As a writer, it is vital that we all join together to stand up to AMPTP ~ very few writers and actors make a livable wage. It is a very small percentage who make volumes of money. GO FRAN!!!!! i had massive respect for fran, she's been through A LOT in her life and remained graceful, loving and fearless. a natural born leader, resilient and powerful. we need more people like her in the world.
As someone that admittedly only knew Fran from The Nanny and 'the voice' it's incredible to see her give this highly articulate, passionate, reasonable, honest, clear, empathy-enducing speech. Well done.
Wrong! It’s called reality TV, which costs a fraction to produce compared to the scripted PC garbage coming out of Hollywood the last 5 years. Reality TV can easily carry the studios until AI takes over. Lastly, only people from the left think it is ok to demand a raise when there is less revenue being made year after year by the major producers.
It was the best political speech which I heard from the long time. I did not expect that from Fran Drescher, nor from any other actress or actor to be honest. I loved Fran but now I really respect her and her voice in this community.
She’s amazing. Go Fran!!! Her speech is so honest and well spoken. It’s speaking truth to power about what’s going on in our world today. Everyone should get on board with this.
Amen!! Thank you Fran Drescher I am in a different industry but these same problems are affecting labor all across the country and world. The priority of corporations is greed, to keep the most money possible, not to share an appropriate amount of their wealth with workers. This has to change - people need to start being vocal about this and following their words up with actions: strengthening unions, spreading awareness, and striking. We can no longer be bullied, dishonored, disrespected, and taken advantage of. It’s ridiculous. Workers are partners in wealth creation so we should be treated as partners!
Wow! That is one of the most powerful speeches I have heard in a very long time! I wasn't aware of how much was at stake at this pivotal moment, not just for SAG, but for everyone who AI will affect inevitably . The line in the sand we draw today on every ground will reverberate for the future of our species. Profit should never usurp the right of living beings to thrive and survive. Are there not enough challenges already for individuals to make a living? Fran should go down as one of the more effective orators of our modern era. Very moving.
Yes it is a very difficult realization that those at the top believe that they can disrespect the labor that gives them the top seat. No more giving of life for the heartless and soulless owners of all their wealth. It is not theirs to take. I hope we can end this selfish irresponsible resistance to accepting that they are NOTHING without the laborers.
Been binge watching The Nanny for 3 months now. Was always one of my favourite shows because of Frans voice & fashion. She's still got it. Glad she's using that powerful voice for good.
She moved me to passionate tears. She’s right. I think a lot of people see this strike as a bunch of whining , privileged actors and writers, but the huge majority of writers and actors that belong to the unions are not wealthy, do a ton of work that yields major profits for producers/CEOs, and rely on their small residuals and guarantees to pay their rent or mortgage, and buy food to feed their families. This IS a labor issue. And she’s right about everyone watching, because if workers do not stand together, people that capitalize on the workers will continue to push back, while workers will lose rights.
Sad thing is- I call b.s. Once hollywood exposed their activism and pushed their ideology down everybody's throats while Trump was potus- Including nonstop attacks on him and his family- they ruined and lost all credibility. I don't care who they prop up there, and it won't work to cry out- "it's for the little people" either. R.i.p. hollywood.
Well said, I’d also like to say that, for anyone who thinks these people don’t deserve proper pay for their work, all of us, or at least most of us, watch them, or entertained by them, and our lives are in Riched by their contributions. This is real work even though a lot of people think it’s a game and frivolous. Actors singers musicians all kinds of performers have been with us since we crawled out of the primordial ooze. They deserve to be compensated just like everyone else for their work.
Her voice is like home. This is truly beautiful, and just for the naysayers this is not just for the actors you see on the screen and immediately recognize this is also (and mainly for) those who are in the background getting paid fractions of what the big shots make. It’s for the writers who put in years of their time to shows that we enjoy and the movies we watch and love. My mother and I always get told we sound like this lady and we get taken less serious because of it but it’s inspiring to see her in such a powerful movement and using her voice for good.
This is a voice of reason! Stand for what is right....and Fran voices this fact! Yes, bravo and support to this movement and powerful stance for labor unions all around the world as she has indicated 👏👏👏🎬

@@turdferguson82 Found the corporate shill
This is the f****ing truth!! I hope all labor unions hear this and get inspired. Demand what you deserve for the work you put in and profit *you* create! Power to SAG, WGA and all labor movements. Strike if your demands aren’t met!
Just like every other worker at the end of the day.
Studio executives are clearly TRUMP SUPPORTERS!!! Good on writers and actors for striking!
@@ReverendSnedley Says the anonymous coward without a photo.
The one thing that this country has never been able to do is call for a general strike. A total work stoppage is the only thing that will make certain people understand that there IS a limit to greed. There IS such a thing as having too much. I’m impressed with Frans speech. Let it be the beginning!
Unfortunately nothing will come of that. These companies are willing to let everything fail and/or die, they don't care anymore. On paper, a country wide strike would work, but in reality we would all suffer from it and it would just get worse.

She can start with herself.
@@AllRequiredcould you elaborate?!
@@TheMaskedChef7expect he is referring to Miss Drescher's sizable paycheck. He is perhaps unfamiliar with the idea of lifting up people rather than counterproductive vows of poverty.
I expect he is also completely ignorant of the actual core of this conflict. The change in the business model she is referring to is the studio's interest in recording performers likeness in 3D and, with out future recompense or residuals, using that likeness to create content. Without any talent involved whatsoever. Forever. Lacking actual people to support every trade that operates alongside acting then becomes obsolete. Hair, makeup, costume, craft services, grips, roadies, the car service guys.... Poof gone.
SAG is deliberately making this public because, as Madam Chairman herself said, we are at a crossroads in history...
"Greed has to go," is what you say to a room full of executives right before they stop listening to anything you have to say.
Greed? This strike if because of greed. They are paid way better than any profesional out there. But they are complaining for receiving low residuals for shows that don't perform well because they are more interested in ideology than quality.

Her words need to be done across the board in all industries--not only actors. We need to stand up for our right as human beings to say enough is enough and we want more.
We don't just want it, we deserve it. It's the labor of workers in this country that makes this country run on a daily basis. Without us it will collapse.
This is actually about writers and not actors.
As a writer, it is vital that we all join together to stand up to AMPTP ~ very few writers and actors make a livable wage. It is a very small percentage who make volumes of money. However, the executives who pull in millions based upon the hard work of the devoted laborers in IATSE, WGAEast and WGAWest, and SAG-AFTRA, are greedy and clueless about what it means to struggle to make a livable wage. You go, Fran ~ WE ARE WITH YOU! ❤❤❤
How can everyday Americans (or outside the US) show solidarity? Cancel streaming services until there’s a fair contract?
Solidarity! Fraternity! Now to align with other groups in the exploited underclass - retail, restaurants, theme parks, exploited office temp workers, etc etc. We live in an oligarchy and it's time for it to crumble.
And it's the desperation of those exact menial actors and writers ambition for fame and money allowed their greed to thrive.
Hospital workers, also
@@TheEmaile A lot of actors and writers say don't cancel them but support them by joining them at picket lines or just standing with unions in general.
Cheers to Fran Drescher for that moving speech. My husband is a member of SAG-AFTRA, as are many of our friends (singers, songwriters, actors, filmmakers...). Nobody really wants to strike. But nobody wants to work and not be recognized (and fairly compensated) for their work either. Good luck SAG-AFTRA. May the strike be short-lived and the resolution one that makes you smile.
its scary to imagine the greed driving things behind the scenes, and to further enslave mankind. The rich and powerful are tightening the screws and consider it a fait accompli.

“You Share the wealth, because you cannot exist without us!” TRUTH.
With that said, " Why is it so hard for the big Corporations to deal in good faith and humanity?

Amen!! Thank you Fran Drescher
I am in a different industry but these same problems are affecting labor all across the country and world.
I used to be part of a union, which was no better than my bosses, just in it for the Union and never actually made decisions in the interest of labor.
This was incredible. Standing with the strikers!!
Her speech is one to add to the history books.
This was an amazing and impactful speech.RESPECT… Fran
My respect for Fran just went up quite a bit, and I’ve always appreciated her.
Thank you ! Fran Drescher for standing tall, and being a symbol of hope for the labour work
She moved me to passionate tears.
R.i.p. hollywood.
Right you are
Plus it's happening in all industries all around the world, not just entertainment
Im so impressed by people giving speeches from the heart and NOT reading a script!

@@erikm8372 Read the initial comment of Deepestrueblue (if you're able to). My reply has nothing to do with that fact that it's supposedly "not pre-fabricated" (and if you can truly believe that, let me remind you that Fran Drescher is an actress, which enables her to recite lines in a convincing manner without having a text in her hands...). My reply had to do with people considering themselves "little" in comparison to a celebrity.
