The only TWSBI that looks like a pen and not like a vaping pipe. The clip is useless and can cause stress cracks or worse around the top of the cap. Mine, purchased August 2023, was not issued with two converters. It has the spring pump/piston installed and a separately packaged large cartridge and a spring. The plastic body scratches easily, especially when posting! Broad nib, writes smoothly, no hard starts or ink starvation as yet.
I really object to being tied in to proprietary cartridges and then having to either refill them or buy a separate converter. I have seven Lamys, even though I hate that ugly clip which looks like huge, repurposed paper clip. All with broad nibs and all write smoothly with no hard starts or ink starvation. They are made with a superior plastic which stands the test of time. Thanks for your review.

I'm considering buying the swipe and out of all of the videos I've watched you are the only one who mentioned that the convertor is able to be disassembled. Thank you for that. I would never have thought to try to as my other converters can't.

I'm so glad I did! They are great to disassemble. Just make sure you don't loose the agitator - I sure did. Did you see they are coming out with a new color on November 30? It's iceblue and it looks amazing!

I really want to get a Swipe, exactly because the converters are so easy to clean. So convenient when you want to switch out inks fairly regularly.

Yes, they come apart so easily and make cleaning so much nicer.

I have a lot of pens that I use, but I use these two pens more often than my Pelikans and other find pens. I ground a Lamy nib into a italic/stub and I use the Swipe with a factory provided stub nib. Both are fantastic to use but the Swipe's push button filler makes trying different inks really easy to do.

I'm not sure why but I haven't used the spring loaded converter, I really want to do that next time I ink it up. Thanks for your comment.

You can just yank out the Safari feed. It doesn't turn and has a guide inside so don't turn, just yank it out straight. It's friction fit and it requires some force. WHen putting back in, just align it so it sits on the guide.

Yes, that is correct. I have not been able to successfully do that with any of the Lamy fountain pens I own. I'm sure it's user error, but before I break it, I'll just not do it.

Thank you for this comparison! I am tempted to add a TWSBI to my collection, and had been wondering about the Swipe.
I really like the fact it comes with TWO converters! My biggest bug-bear is fountain pen manufacturers not including a converter in the box.
FWIW, the Lamy converters can also be disassembled fully for cleaning (although I do have one that refuses to come apart!). Goulet Pens has a video how-to.

Thanks so much for your comment, Emma! I was able to disassemble one of my Lamy converters, but the other one does not come apart. I then found that they are two different models - maybe that's the reason why. - Oh, the more I use all of my other pens the more I gravitate towards my Lamy's, so I highly recommend trying a TWSBI!

Goulet also has a tutorial for removing the feed out of the section of the Lamy Safari in one of their most recent pencasts.

Great comparison video! When my Lamy ink cartridge was empty, I cleaned it out and refilled it with another ink. Is this the poor lady's converter? Pen works fine. Yes, it would be nice if other companies included converters with their fountain pens like TWSBI.

Before I used converters, I always filled my regular cartridges with ink. Usually it was refilling the same "school blue" but it's so easy to do.

Inclusion of a converter in the pens from China is a major factor in their sales.

I'm a lefty overwriter and unfortunately the Safari just doesn't work for my writing angle. But I bought a Swipe when it came out last year and absolutely love it. The clip is too tight and almost useless but otherwise the feel, nib quality and extra ink capacity are fantastic.

Thanks for sharing! That makes a lot of sense. I don't understand what the designer thought when they added that clip to the pen, but luckily the clip isn't anything that would interfere with the writing experience. I'm glad you love your Swipe.

I have 3 TWSBI Swipe fountain pens, all 1.1 stubs and I cannot recommend them highly enough, they are brilliant little pens. They are almost as good as the TWSBI Eco (of which I have 6 or 7)

Mine always goes dry. Even while I’m writing with it. I wanted to like the swipe, but it’s too hard to use.

Are you sure that's a crack on the TWSBI cap? To me, it looks like the groove the clip slides into.

There are crack perpendicular to the groove.
