  • When the Apostle Paul and Barnabas performed a miracle in the city of Iconium, the crowds mistook them for Olympian gods and began to offer sacrifices. It would be easy for us to dismiss the people’s response as nothing more than ancient superstition, but in this sermon, R.C. Sproul argues that the impulse toward idolatry is a result of our sinful nature and continues to manifest itself today.
This sermon was preached by R.C. Sproul at Saint Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, FL. Hear more from his series in the book of Acts: • The Book of Acts: Serm...

“17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
    You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
    Says the Lord.”
    Isaiah 54

The blindness that fell on Elymas caused the proconsul to believe.
The same weapon formed against you the Lord will use it to be your deliverance.
God bless you saints of God

    Amen preacher
But as we see in the case of Sergius Paulus an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the Word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer ( for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. Then Paul filled with the Holy Spirit looked intently at him and said, O full of all deceit and all fraud, you Don of the devil you enemy of. All righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? “
    Acts 12:7-12
    Then blindness fell on Elymas
