It is korean context joke. In korea, they are saying that there are 2 types of people, mint choco lovers and haters. Haters say it takes like toothpaste. Aespa finally found mint choco were good and it gives lots of mint choco loving fans huge relief.
At the beginning of the video, aespa was like mint choco haters. In the animation part, it was shown that they rejected the mint chocolate ice cream that gave life to the monster. So they were fighting the monster and people who liked it. Ultimately, they were given a chance to taste it and liked it. Mint chocolate has been an ongoing debate in Korea (or in other countries).
Koreans usually don’t eat licorice unless it’s in herbal medicine, so I think they chose mint chocolate instead of licorice for korean viewers as its taste is widely polarized in Korea.
You know what else is divisive and acquired taste like Licorice and Mintcho? aespa and their signature "taste of iron" sound. It's a perfect 3-way match. Song seems to be likening someone to licorice, but oh no don't take it the wrong way. Others might not think you're good, but you're perfect to me. Mint icecream is usually artificially colored within a narrow band of colors and the scoop silhouette and the flecks of chocolate chip makes it much more visually recognizable than licorice would be, and more visually appealing. Mintchoc discourse is also pretty much evergreen and more relatable.
The lyrics say you are like licorice, but in Korea, licorice is treated more as a medicine than as a food. Perhaps it was replaced with mint chocolate in the music video due to Korean sentiment. Mint chocolate is notorious in Korea as a highly disliked food because it tastes like toothpaste with cocoa powder added
My top 2 fave song after Bahama 😊❤ As a fan of super sentai and power rangers shows since the 90s...this video is just awesome sauce Haha also #team_mintcho
This and the corn video are truly the strangest things in their videography. Im just here for the fun and looks of it. Don't claim or even attempt to understand what is going on this era

Well, I'm in the U.S. and mint choco chip ice cream has been my favorite for over 30 years. Now I know why I was destined to find Aespa.

I think it means "Don't judge before you taste it!". But I hate mint chocolate.
aespa in Parallel worlds!
한국에서 민트 초콜릿은 호불호(Likes and dislikes)가 가장 확실하게 갈리는 음식으로 호불호의 대표 상징입니다. 아마도 Licorice도 서양에선 비슷한 이미지로 알고있습니다.
This is one of the better songs on the album, very 80s and 90s rock.
