How do you get it move side to side? Is it like a floor buffer that moves side to side by changing up and down pressure on the handle

You just push it or pull it in whichever direction you choose.

@@ParaBellum2024 thanks for the information. I have a swampy area in my backyard that I can't mow with a mower because it sinks into the mud so maybe this is what I need for that. I have been cutting it with a string trimmer but that is not satisfactory.

@@ParaBellum2024 i don't want a wet area because it makes my basement wet and humid so no pond in the yard. There was a swail there when the houses were new but that is mostly filled in.

What they don't mention here is that you usually need to tilt the mower a little, to start the cushion of air flowing. Then you can swing it around like a weed whacker if you want to. Just mind the cord, or, even better, stay away from electricity altogether by the wet area and get a petrol flymo.
