Coming when called is the most important thing ever! My golden got out and was staring down a deer and wanted to chase it. He was about to when I called him and he came right back. He got a bit of my hot dog for that because he was amazing.

My fiancé has a very deep voice and after watching Zak’s videos, he goes helium now too - our puppy responds so much better to the high pitch. Hilarious but effective.
I have a two-year-old lab who is super great, but this series has come at the right time- it's reminded me to brush up on the things she learnt when she was a puppy, and come when called is one of them. Because of the virus, we haven't been in public places as much, so recall in public is being retrained all over again. Also, I echo the suggestion of others- it would be super cool for you to do this with an older rescue dog.

Can you do a video going over dog body language? Trainers always talk about how important it is to understand dog body language but never go over everything you need to know about it. Either way, your videos are super helpful!!!

Come is the most important thing your dog should know. We live in the country and a deer was in our yard. My adult labs were in a stay next to me but my 6 month old red lab didn’t listen and began chasing the deer. I said “COME” and he came right back! He is getting much better at stay now too.

My dog was a rescue and he came to me as SUCH an obedient dog! He’d come when I called, he’s come to his name, he wouldn’t bark or be territorial. I followed Zak’s training and it was great! He did so well that I started slacking and now he’s DEgressed 😫😭 He’s learned bad habits from my roommates’ dogs (and from me, too, honestly). I’m so happy for this video so that I can re-focus with my dog and keep up the training for a YEAR rather than a short amount of time. Thanks Zak!!

A game of chase literally saved my dogs life. Nova got startled and got out of her collar in a parking lot along a busy street. I got her to chase me right into the back seat of my car before she could get hurt

This is a great series. Training a puppy from the beginning, including failures is so helpful. One thing that I added to Zak' s method was hand signals so whenever I said come I would beckon him too. For stay I would add an open palm aimed at his face. It really comes in handy when you're distracted speaking to someone or you don't want to yell.

Can"t wait to start traning my new pup next week. I new some of these basics but have gotten very rusty at how to implument them. I have not had a dog for 4 years and have not trained one in over 11 years. So all of this will come in very handy starting next week. Thanks for the refresher course.

Another great video! Need to brush up on the skill with my one and a half year old dog as it's been awhile. With Covid, we've been home and there haven't been too many distractions. I've noticed his social skills have regressed a bit too, as have mine LOL. Can't believe how much Kona grows with each episode.

Every time he teaches a dog something in 5minutes I feel like such a failure
Zak is a pro; he has a lot of experience, & it helps with seeing what one maybe needs to try a slightly different way, etc. Also, every dog is an individual, which makes a difference in how, & how quickly, they may learn any given thing. Which is just to say, to anyone reading this, please don't be discouraged. Your dog will have the moments when the light bulb goes on over their head. And, it's really satisfying.
