dude you deserve a medal for sharing the art of rake
You can also copy stone roads!
I haven't be able to find a stone road block, but the stone path that leads to your initial starting base, you can use the rake and basically extend it as far as you'd like.
I mistakenly found this out when I first used the rake, but I didn't know about being able to hold down the button to continuously rake away. Very nice!
Nice! Kinda by accident for me too!
Thank you for educating us about the power of the rake, and how to wield it! Blessed be thy soul!
As a longtime Valheim player, I can say those are some darn handy functions!
did not expect youtube to hit me with a free Master of Rake class ... am really thankful for your infos!
Also. In early game places like the Salt mine in the shroud can be quite tedious to get in, mine salt and make it out alive. But with a well placed flame altar you can just pickaxe and rake your way down from the cliff above for a more comfortable salt mine experience :D
You're doing god's work, friend.
@@sirflimflam Thanks. The best part is, If you place the level 1 altar on the top of the hill, mine down to the bottom of your altars build height, you can place down another just above the shroud and remove the first altar. That you can see the upper limit of the new altars build area poking barely through the ground, which means the tunnels you dug never reset as long as your Flame altar is still there. and you can reach well down into the shroud with your build limit. But you can still be away enough so that the salt mine itself can reset. And when you get further into the game and don't need to worry about salt anymore you can do the same thing in pretty much any hill above shroud if you happen to find a good spot for mining or farming any Shroud material you might need.
Right now salt is the only one that was a bit of a headache mostly because you need it so early but it might be a nice thing to remember when new areas and resources open up after the full game is released as I imagine we can't always just rely on our shroud timer getting longer and longer when we get to even higher level areas
There's a ruined small castle structure in a small hill north east of the initial base (very close, in gliding distance) that is absolutely full of salt, and you get there in 1 minute literally from starting base, and easy to get out.
just showed this to all my friends, this is awesome man. thank you for this
This definitely upped the value of the rake in my eyes. The glider is huge in Enshrouded, and being able to make a high point to jump from for free is pretty huge. Great video, thank you for making it!
Not gonna lie, I laughed at "gimme your bus money" both in this video and the live stream... 😂
Having not made the rake yet myself, this is extremely helpful! Keep up the good work and I shall continue to spread the gospel! 🙏
😂 Thanks dawg!
Thank you, this tutorial was immensely helpful, informative and spoiler free! You got yourself a sub !
Reached the end game without ever having the rake. Sucks to see how nice the rake would have been for base builds.
Dude im level 22 and still have base tier glider, let alone a rake lol
I have barely explored man, I found the rake early and built a custom cliff side 😂
This is why I don't rush every game I play.
I never really used it cuz of being able to build and delate building to reshape terrain
@@Mad_Catter_ especially a game like enshrouded, who seems like the type of game that should not be rushed cause youre gonna miss half the game.
In that case, this game already has strong Dark Souls Vibes.
I've struggled with the rake a lot until this secret knowledge was revealed. Thank you for enlightening us!
Excellent tutorial Thread, looking forward to more
this is amazing. the rake spreading different terrains is amazing and incredibly useful
Nicely done sir. I'm just in awe at how in depth this game is.
As someone who has spent hours axe-ing away at the ground and replacing it all with blocks (like a true minecraft player) I was already impressed after you explained the first function. When you said "Okay the next useful thing is..." my mind was blown, literally thinking "THERES MOREE???"
Thank you
the give me your bus money dry humor made me crack up out of nowhere and def got me to hit the subscribe button. lol
Thanks and welcome aboard!
Ugh I wish I knew this yesterday, lol! But so glad I know it now. THANK YOU!!
At the beginning of yesterday I thought the rake sucked lol
I was just about to start farming. 😂
I have watched a lot of videos on this game and this one has been the most informative. Love it!!
Heck yeah, thanks!
cant wait till game release, im trully hyped for it, loved the early access. Thanks for sharing how to use the rake, i had no idea
Wow! Theses tips are unbelievable! I never knew! Thank you for this!
I think you can also use the rake to tunnel, as it flattens the terrain only up to a certain altitude above it and leaves any terrain outside of its effected area. So as long as it's in your build area I think you can just tunnel through the earth with it as well.
Damn i never would have thought of this, nice video my man!
Thanks for that. I didn't realise that the placed terrain only overwrites existing terrain if it is higher! Very useful to know.
I liked and sub'd because this video was direct, to the point, & very informative. Kudos.
Good to see you getting more views! Quality content as always!
Newly subscribed. Purely due to how you deliver your content. Subtle humour. Love it.
Thanks and welcome! Tomorrow I plan on becoming an arrogant jerk due to the success of this video but you got in just in time to be able to say, "You used to be funny, maaan! You've CHANGED maaan!"
Very helpful man! Keep it up!
Thanks for sharing. This is gold! I usually use pickaxe to go up a mountain by digging my rock ladder. Seems like Rake can be useful in there too.
I did not think about that last tip. Truly a strat only speedrunners would come up with.
This is great thank you! Now I am going to spread pretty flower soil around across the map.
Exactly my first thought!
Thanks for a great informative video. Was really helpful for a new player like me.
I just got into the farming and wasn't sure about the purpose of the rake, this video cleared up a lot and I am now a believer. Wish I knew this before planting my garden. Thanks for the video!
great info! Awesome video!
thank you so much I've been trying to figure out what it was good for
This is amazing, thank you!! I love the rake now.
Look at you! Making a how to video that's awesome! Great job and it looks very well received. Since I'm not playing, except vicariously through you, nice find!
Haha, thanks! I suspected it would do pretty well but I really didn't think it would pop like it has!
@@ThreadMenace First on the scene sure has its perks! I see TacoGXP now has a "rake" video LOL too funny. Good for you for getting the jump on it.
Oh, a Valheim brother that found out how amazing Enshrouded is. This two games are a must have, I got both on release day.
Thank You for the tip on the flower soil, that's a terrain type block I had not found yet.
Thank you very much for explaining this!!
Thanks for "spreading the peace and love" haha. A few hours in, I had no idea about any of this. Fantastic, thanks!
This is so nice!! I was really confused on what the rake did but dang this is nice
Very good video!! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for sayin' so!
My eyes have been opened! Praise the Shroud, for I can see the light!
I mean, I can basically see nothing BUT light because of the insane bloom in the shroud... But this video was amazing!
😂thanks!
Holy frik, the spreading of the terrain type after placing it is a game changer.
From a guy that just wanted to fix some holes made by some explosives mishaps in the base, I thank you very much.
Great video, I was single-clicking the rake and couldn't understand why it looked so messed up.
Thanks! Great name! 😄
Very cool video, thanks for the handy tips! 👍
I'm still mostly unfamiliar with this game, and from the thumbnail I thought I was going to see some insane combat tips using a rake, which would have been amazing. Still happy to have these tips for when I finally get to purchase the game.
S'pose I clickbaited a little bit but what I was seeing a lot of was people who would craft a rake, mess up their yard while attempting its basic functions and put it away forever. But really it's good for its obvious functions and then for so much more! When you contrast putting an unwanted hole in your yard with what it's actually capable of it does start to seem really powerful (for a gardening tool lol)
this just blowed my mind. thank you. giving you a sub because of this
Very helpful video. This is gonna help me build my forest village.
Thank you, great stuff!
Very useful tips, thanks 👍
Even without the rake, I think a lot of the terrain types give more back than the 1 it costs to put down. I found this out when trying to light an underground area with the blue glowy stuff with the terrain type (not the crafted block type) and I was getting more back than I had used to place down the chunk. But the rake method is definitely faster and more guaranteed.
Thank you... I was making a mess with that darn rake!
I tried it out to make my growing area look better, wildly deformed my front yard in seconds. Set that demon relic down in the corner and never touch it again. Definitely gonna go try that out now, thanks alot for the info dude that was awesome 👌
I almost fell victim to this exact process but decided "no way, I must be doin' it wrong" haha
Why am I actually excited to use the rake now 😂. Great tips!
Excellent vid, thanks.
Lol.. I made a whole basement under my house with rake.. love that things xD... but you taught me new things with the soil so glad i watched. Always something to learn.
Nice did not know this thanks man!✌🏼
I think Valheim players get extra confused about the way the rake works. Thanks for explaining it. It makes a lot more sense now.
3 of the 4 were unknown to me, thanks for the tips!
Thank you for the rake tips.
I hate subscribing to too many accounts out of fear of creating a huge mess. I’m really enjoying this game and I found your video very helpful. I shall subscribe for now in hopes to find more useful content :) thanks
Fair. In the interest of transparency I do mostly super-long playthrough type stuff and speedruns. I made this guide because I saw it was needed and I "cracked the code" on the rake. I'm not going to force out other vids of this nature if it's something that's obvious or on super saturated topics like Level 25 Loot Farm(!!!) If I've got another good idea, then I will make another good tutorial like this. Those things don't grow on trees though. Until then I'm gonna have fun and be chill and play games.
Straight to the point and funny. All hail the rake
This video is gold! Thank you
Wow, clever design, thanks for this!
Sub earned just for the bus money line. You can also rake vertically to create huge pillars of terrain
as a valheim player who had a hard time leveling the ground. this is an absolute win
Holy cow I've been using the rake wrong, I didn't even think to hold the mouse button down I have been clicking thinking it was terrible, that trick with the soil is awesome and i will be using it.
This is awesome thanks. Instant sub. Gonna head to twitch next.
Thanks! I've been streaming here, actually! Got an Enshrouded playthrough in the live tab, and might upload a permadeath playthrough
you are a saint!! thanks for sharing these tips!!!
Spreading out the terrain type is actually really cool. Easily make roads and farms in your base
I never crafted one because I thought it was intended for farming, this is amazing!
The manure type soil right near by is the best source of dirt. You get like 3-8 per swing. I'm betting you can use the terrain multiplication of the rake to make this an infinite resource as long as you lower the area you are spreading the manure to. Great for the forge and such
This is insane information. I hope the Valheim devs consider this!
I'm going to make a rake now.
Wow I have been using the building hammer did not know the rake was for leveling lol. Thought it was for farming. Haha I’m dumb.
Also your humor and editing is on point. Really like your video.
Thanks!
Thread is the best and his speedruns are funny and enjoyable. No cussing basically ever. Family friendly
I found a tiny patch of luminescent growth under my house while expanding my basement. I was able to spread that patch to cover the walls of a secret room. Thanks, rake!
Now i wonder what other materials you can spread.... it would be nuts if you could literally "farm" ore in your base 😅
awesome tips will use it right now
My guy! Thank you for this video.
Great stuff! Thnx
Thanks for this video!
Super useful, just the guide I needed for this. The rake's behavior in the game feels unpredictable without a coherent explanation of what it's doing. Thank you.
It seems to me that by changing the angle of the circles we could use the rake to carve climbable chutes up mountainsides. Anyone tried this? Edit: just checked, can't use the rake outside of a flame altar building area.
The best terraforming tool in the game is the hammer. Go all the way to the bottom and selecting what you’re doing and pick the biggest triangle shape there is if you’re trying to create an underground area.
Informative, witty, and in a rather short video. You check all the boxes mate. We'll done.
Ready for the Ballet of Enshrouded. Doing awesome Thread.
My man you definitely deserve my like👍🏽
Neat to know. The default of vertical blue circles makes for a quick hole digger, and if you have your parry timing down, you can rake someone into a hole as they approach (if not a flyer)
Haha nice!
few caveats- has to be within build area, and wolves usually hop out anyway
Astroneer flattening, loved it instantly
You are my hero, Thread! Your depths are being revealed. 😮
Now that I've emerged from my hoe phase anything is possible!
excellent video :) funny and informative
Love it, you can also go straight at a cliff face and "dig" a hole through a mountain with the rake. Glory to the rake!
All hail the mighty rake. I was hoping you stream on Twitch too, now that they allow multi-stream simultaneously. Cheers!
Thanks! TH-cam will be better quality but I'm definitely going to explore multi-streaming in the future. I've only done a handful of youtube streams and just want to make sure I've got everything sorted before I get fancier. If you prefer twitch definitely give me a follow over there, link on my YT page and I'll see ya there at some point! :D
20 hours played and I haven't even crafted the thing yet 🤣
I think I should, a very smart dude just told me it's OP.
Wowww! That's awesome!
Great video
