You can also copy stone roads! I haven't be able to find a stone road block, but the stone path that leads to your initial starting base, you can use the rake and basically extend it as far as you'd like.
I mistakenly found this out when I first used the rake, but I didn't know about being able to hold down the button to continuously rake away. Very nice!
This definitely upped the value of the rake in my eyes. The glider is huge in Enshrouded, and being able to make a high point to jump from for free is pretty huge. Great video, thank you for making it!
Not gonna lie, I laughed at "gimme your bus money" both in this video and the live stream... 😂 Having not made the rake yet myself, this is extremely helpful! Keep up the good work and I shall continue to spread the gospel! 🙏
Also. In early game places like the Salt mine in the shroud can be quite tedious to get in, mine salt and make it out alive. But with a well placed flame altar you can just pickaxe and rake your way down from the cliff above for a more comfortable salt mine experience :D
@@sirflimflam Thanks. The best part is, If you place the level 1 altar on the top of the hill, mine down to the bottom of your altars build height, you can place down another just above the shroud and remove the first altar. That you can see the upper limit of the new altars build area poking barely through the ground, which means the tunnels you dug never reset as long as your Flame altar is still there. and you can reach well down into the shroud with your build limit. But you can still be away enough so that the salt mine itself can reset. And when you get further into the game and don't need to worry about salt anymore you can do the same thing in pretty much any hill above shroud if you happen to find a good spot for mining or farming any Shroud material you might need. Right now salt is the only one that was a bit of a headache mostly because you need it so early but it might be a nice thing to remember when new areas and resources open up after the full game is released as I imagine we can't always just rely on our shroud timer getting longer and longer when we get to even higher level areas
There's a ruined small castle structure in a small hill north east of the initial base (very close, in gliding distance) that is absolutely full of salt, and you get there in 1 minute literally from starting base, and easy to get out.
As someone who has spent hours axe-ing away at the ground and replacing it all with blocks (like a true minecraft player) I was already impressed after you explained the first function. Fair. In the interest of transparency I do mostly super-long playthrough type stuff and speedruns. I made this guide because I saw it was needed and I "cracked the code" on the rake. I'm not going to force out other vids of this nature if it's something that's obvious or on super saturated topics like Level 25 Loot Farm(!!!) If I've got another good idea, then I will make another good tutorial like this. Those things don't grow on trees though. Until then I'm gonna have fun and be chill and play games.
I just got into the farming and wasn't sure about the purpose of the rake, this video cleared up a lot and I am now a believer. Wish I knew this before planting my garden. Thanks for the video!
I think you can also use the rake to tunnel, as it flattens the terrain only up to a certain altitude above it and leaves any terrain outside of its effected area. So as long as it's in your build area I think you can just tunnel through the earth with it as well.
I tried it out to make my growing area look better, wildly deformed my front yard in seconds. Set that demon relic down in the corner and never touch it again. Definitely gonna go try that out now, thanks alot for the info dude that was awesome 👌
Holy cow I've been using the rake wrong, I didn't even think to hold the mouse button down I have been clicking thinking it was terrible, that trick with the soil is awesome and i will be using it.
My eyes have been opened! Praise the Shroud, for I can see the light! I mean, I can basically see nothing BUT light because of the insane bloom in the shroud... But this video was amazing!
Wow I have been using the building hammer did not know the rake was for leveling lol. Thought it was for farming. Haha I’m dumb. Also your humor and editing is on point. Really like your video.
Even without the rake, I think a lot of the terrain types give more back than the 1 it costs to put down. I found this out when trying to light an underground area with the blue glowy stuff with the terrain type (not the crafted block type) and I was getting more back than I had used to place down the chunk. But the rake method is definitely faster and more guaranteed.
I'm still mostly unfamiliar with this game, and from the thumbnail I thought I was going to see some insane combat tips using a rake, which would have been amazing. Still happy to have these tips for when I finally get to purchase the game.
S'pose I clickbaited a little bit but what I was seeing a lot of was people who would craft a rake, mess up their yard while attempting its basic functions and put it away forever. But really it's good for its obvious functions and then for so much more! When you contrast putting an unwanted hole in your yard with what it's actually capable of it does start to seem really powerful (for a gardening tool lol)
Super useful, just the guide I needed for this. The rake's behavior in the game feels unpredictable without a coherent explanation of what it's doing. Thank you. It seems to me that by changing the angle of the circles we could use the rake to carve climbable chutes up mountainsides. Anyone tried this? Edit: just checked, can't use the rake outside of a flame altar building area.
The manure type soil right near by is the best source of dirt. You get like 3-8 per swing. I'm betting you can use the terrain multiplication of the rake to make this an infinite resource as long as you lower the area you are spreading the manure to. Great for the forge and such
I found a tiny patch of luminescent growth under my house while expanding my basement. I was able to spread that patch to cover the walls of a secret room. Thanks, rake! Now i wonder what other materials you can spread.... it would be nuts if you could literally "farm" ore in your base 😅
Rake is also ace at quickening excavation by carving huge swathes lower.. and I wonder if you can use the rake to spread around say an iron or copper vein for a mining exploit.
It is! Can't spread veins around, no, but it can be quite useful for isolating clay and sulfur so you're not hitting stone as well, just the exposed deposit!
Neat to know. The default of vertical blue circles makes for a quick hole digger, and if you have your parry timing down, you can rake someone into a hole as they approach (if not a flyer)
Oh mate, I wish I'd found this video 2 days ago when I was trying to set up my farming for food and everything else. That rake would have saved me HOURS of frustration and grief trying to level the ground and get the dirt ready for planting. And being able to make unlimited soils if you only have one to begin with is genius! ! ! Thanks for posting this video. You definitely ROCK! ! ! Just one question. You need to have a basic rake before you can craft the Scrappy Rake. How/where do you get the basic rake to begin with? Thanks
It's a workbench item but I guess some players are experiencing a bug where the recipe doesn't appear there, or disappears later. There is some discussion of the bug (and overcoming it) in the pinned comment. Since I learned about the bug I've created two fresh characters/worlds and leveled the fresh characters to lvl 5 and the rake unlocked immediately at 5 both times. If you don't have it in your world you could try that, craft one, then pop in with your advanced character and lift it from a box
