Johnny The Greaser Happy to hear that, thank you for using my video as a reference. If you have any further questions please ask. Or video ideas. I'll be more then glad to be of assist.
Hey Marine, I appreciate your video. I’m navy and reported to my ship in dress whites today. Gotta report tomorrow in my NWUs with an 8 point. Haven’t worn one in a year. Didn’t want to look like a shit bag and you helped out even without the starch. Thanks man.
Extra pointers I’ve learned in the Corps: Hairspray works in place for starch (for females that don’t wanna buy starch), and spraying on the INSIDE of the cover and ironing outside like usual has the same effect but also prevents that weird shininess on the outside you don’t want! Oh and a ponytail holder will work instead of a boot band to hold the bill in place
wow I just happened to run across this video not much has changed only with one exception back in the day we didn't have irons we heated up two rocks from the river LOL great video MARINE SEMPER Fi keep them coming great material
back in my day in 1975 and 79 we had to cover block you would dip it and King starch put it on the cover block but it button a bill down with clothes pins in the sumbitch was hard as a rock
Hey man thanx I'm in mcjrotc for heritage high school for lynchburg va and my smi said my cover was the best looking since he got out of the marine corps 10 years ago
Thanks, trying to revitalize my uncles cap from the Korean war, made my own starch from corn starch and water in a spray bottle the old fashioned way. Keep em squared away!!
After I washed my cover I would place it on a 8 pointed metal template while still wet and drench it in starch. The cover would shrink while drying and the result would be a highly squared away cover. "82-'86.
Get a number 10 can. Take your cover and place it on the can. Brush on liquid starch on the cover and let it stand for an hour. No iron. Cover looks great. This is too much like work. Semper Fi 1965..1968
I remember my brother who was in the Marines during Vietnam did almost the same thing to his cover. He even taught me to do a real spit shine to his boots. Not sure if you guys have to do that to your boots anymore.
Thank you for the question. But to answer it no it's not in the Order that states you cannot starch. Where it does say not to is on the washing instructions on the cammies that state not to. You're correct if you get deployed you will be seen by NVD'S but that is why you have inspection cammies and cammies for PFT'S CFT'S DEPLOYMENTS, ETC.
id also like to add that this is a garrison cover that is normally not worn in the field. for the field, we have the boonie cover which you dont starch
@@eduardocaballero2317 Hi! I'd like to see a video on boots, like what boots you are issued at basic and what boots are your favorite for everyday wear

Great history lesson, Marine! Thanks and thankyou for your service!
From an Ole Marine, 74-78, we starched utilities and covers, and we used a cover block that fit the cover to keep it "stiff". Semper Fi
Thank you sir, I been needing this since I am in MCJROTC I want to look squared up for Colonel Brown. Thanks again Marine! OORAH!

Who remembers the cover block and painting liquid starch on your cover with a paintbrush? Those were the good old days!
What a fine young Marine!
Thank you from the Iraqi army, I will do that, I like the idea
Use this for young marines to thank you so much
Anytime, im glad other Marines watch this and learn.
Is starching against USMC regs? I know it is in the Air Force... adding starch makes you stand out under infrared radiation!

My cover is fucked up. Thanks for the video man!
Thanks!
What happened to the white plastic we used in 75 with starch
Are you just using a bar of soap taped up? We used toilet paper rolls in boot, but I found that rarely helped me and I ended up using my hand
lmao no its actually a sewing kit haha, yes the tp is useful.
I used the old field mirror that came in the sewing kits ...92-96...1371

hello eduardo how can i geth one 8 POINT GARRISON USMC COVER in size xl
You can get it on a naval or Marine corps base.
I live in northern Norway
Every service keeps designing combat uniforms that aren't supposed to be starched. Yet everyone starches them so they look decent
I usually drench it in starch and let it dry and den iron it.. that way when it’s done it’s solid as fuck
I will try this method !
"Do not use chlorine bleach or starch"
Yea right
Marines are bound to break some rules 😏
We used starch for the greens as well the hat
I'm a collector. Any suggestions on the type 1 cover?
