  • Fade Meraki ventures into the jungle of Siberut Island, West Sumatra to meet the tattooed indigenous Shaman of the Mentawai tribes. She crosses oceans, rivers, swamps and jungles to the remote wooden Uma where this tribe live an original traditional lifestyle. She learnt to speak Bahasa Indonesian in order to translate the interviews and be able to travel in this remote location.
Fade Meraki learns about tattoo culture, traditions and Shamanic practices with the tribal elders. Fade Meraki makes tattoo tools with the Shaman and ink from ash. She gets tattooed in the jungle and reunites with her adoptive Mentawai tribal mother and Aman Lau Lau, the chief of the village.

Thank you so much for this video Fade. Ive always wanted to see more of the family and a follow up from Lars Krutak video and time with them from his travels. This means alot to me. I smiled so much in this video and was happy for you seeing your friend and It was so great to see aman lepon grown up and tattooing! Hope his dad pulled through..... Thanks for sharing this. Hopefully you can make a trip to india for the godna ink. Thats on my bucket list someday. I love tattoo anthropology. Wished the world saw more on godna and the beautiful scarification patterns of the ethiopian tribes.

It's good to see your own body is also well-equipped and ornamented with tattoos and symbolism. It shows you are living what you preach. Also note that in their traditional religion keeping the bod attractive and beautiful is supposed to make the Soul delight in living in it. That is how it SHOULD be 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥

I believe there are ancient bodies dating back 5000 years with tattoos. It blows my mind that we've nearly always done it.
