    for anyone looking for a nice quick n dirty solution, i got you covered: create a curve as path object (create directly a curve or a mesh like in the vid and convert to curve), then model a door element, give it an array and curve modifier and just animate the location property of the door element.

      It’s been a while since I attempted this, but I like your solution, and I may have to give it a try. Thank you so much!

      @@NathanWAdams i think your solution gives more technical control, however in my opinion that's not needed for most designs and animations. The approach i suggested can also be used to just animate objects along a curve, e.g. for a video intro or product presentation. Especially with the curve draw tool you can get a lot of dynamic in such videos :D
      However you have to be careful with transformations of the objects, as it may create an unwanted offset on the curves deformation axis

      I attempted this but the mesh actually bends and deforms going over the radius of the track. if you know a solution to keep the panels from deforming pls let me know!

      Watch Ryder Thank you so much! I try to keep these simple but get the detail that I feel is necessary to communicate the idea.

    Anyway to get this principal to work with bones? I.e. a rigged and animated setup that can be imported into unreal?

    • @NathanWAdams
      @NathanWAdams  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question. I haven't tried it yet with bones yet, but I do believe that yes, you can do that with bones. It would be achieved through either a track to constraint or possibly an IK constraint on the bones. I'll look into this one and get something for you.

    I can't seem to get this driver to work. I'd REALLY like to figure this out. Any chance you could remake this tutorial using the current version of Blender?

      Thank you for letting me know about this. I think that doing an updated version would be good. I'll make time to do something like that.

      @@NathanWAdams not sure and at the moment I have stuff on old pc so would have to dig them up, and copy them over, but I tried several ways in blender, seems that when they are all parented they all seemed to use the same origin point, I am super new compared to some and i learn slower and have less time to study, I run a paint company. I will work on getting the files and checking that
      Appreciate the help

      I’m going to do an update to this video that’ll work with Blender 4.2. I’ve seen enough comments that are telling me it’s time to do an update, and I feel we could all use it.

    Warning: This tutorial is outdated and no longer applies to new versions of Blender.
    Plus:
    - Squealing audio in the background is enough to drive a person mad.
    - Video quality is very poor.
    - Tutorial is very long and poorly prepared. Constantly making u-turns, making it impossible to follow along.
    - Too much incoherent mumbling.
    You're welcome!

    Maybe because im on blender 4.0 but Im having issues when duplicating my emptys. The duplicates all follow the first empty. So when the first empty goes around the radius, all the other emptys raise up as if they are all in a straight line connected to the top empty. If anyone has a solution to this please let me know!

      I’ll have a look at this and see what’s going on. It’s been quite a while since I’ve done this video, but I’m going to go through and watch my video and try this again and update it to Blender 4,2.

    • @NathanWAdams
      @NathanWAdams  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I know what you’re talking about. That was some awful noise. You’re talking about the screeching in the background, right? I don’t like it either, and I’m seriously thinking of doing an update to this video by making a rig with updated methods using Blender 4.2. This one’s been up for a few years and it’s gotten some negative comments, and I can understand why, so I think it’s time for an update.
