Your videos have inspired me to not only tdi swap my jeep comanche but to also flat deck the truck. Great build looking forward to seeing further projects.
They sell splice point trailer boxes. That's what I use on all of my flat bed wiring jobs. All connections go to one spot. So inside your factory harness would have your turns, running, reverse, trailer wiring, ground. All of your wires will go directly into a sealed box instead of having so many splice points that could end up corroding. Your trailer connector could also tie into it. Much cleaner install.
Love how this thing turned out. I literally copied your flatbed idea. It’s the nicest design I’ve found on the web. Building it for a 93 Cummins doolie. Just started sheeting it tonight. Your a man of many talents. Best of luck on your channel and everything else you do. Thanks for gracing us with your videos!!
That's one of the nicest flatbeds I've seen....you've given me some inspiration for my 49 Ford build...I think I'm going to make mine dump though....maybe some tool boxes on the sides. Good job.
This is what I'm trying to do my bed is not that nice but it's a flatbed I'm just trying to fix a few things that I need new tail lights thanks for the help you made it look easy
You could hang mudflaps on some of those chain links that are threaded. Hang on a bracket, & easy to take off!! Just an idea... Love the videos!! Keep up the good work, it's appreciated 💯👊🏻
Well I've decided that I'll just ship my truck out to you along with my credit card and pay you to put a tricked out bed on it. Because the one you have is awesome and definitely built to last. Great job 👍👍👍👍👍
Hey Austin love the bed you've built I think you need to support the tow hitch to the chassis with a y brace as it is only held on with the 4 small bed mount studs which won't pull much load just a thought mate beautiful build really enjoying the transformation of your truck
Make some carbon fiber/fiberglass mold to cover the frame, a lot of work but would look the cleanest. And if you make a mold you wont have a one off part in case you damage it
I have to admit , I wasn't liking the gap under the rear tie down loops , ( i'm a bit finicky about details) but now that its coated , I like the look ! Damm that looks nice , great work and fore thought with all the wiring and plugs .
So i have the same converter for mine and everything works correctly except the hazards. They do not work unless you put your foot on the brake. Is it possible i have a bad converter?
So that 4 way to 5 way adapter thing I don’t have. Is that why when mine are wired the indicator animation and break animation cut off halfway through?
I have a 87 toyota pickup and used this converter to wire in a 3 wire LED tail light but the turn signals only work when the brakes are applied. Any idea what would cause this. All grounds are good and everything is hooked up like you have it. Just figured maybe you could give your thoughts. Starting to get frustrated to say the least.
@@austinniemela I completely understand, but when the time comes PLEASE consider me when you want to sell. I wouldn't be surprised if you never want to. You definitely put a lot of time and high quality work into that truck. It reminds me of a Toyota I built about 20 years ago or so. Same color too. Love the work you do and the videos
AWESOME WORK LOVE IT...but the tail lights seems to be on the wrong sides they seem to need swapping but who really cares a quick fix for the fast blinker is to wire a normal bulb in the indicator wiring then tape it off...
Really like the flatbed. Great design and overall look for the truck. Since this was about the lights. Curious that you didn't install like a third brake light and cargo/work lights into the headache rack ? Even some side marker lights ?
.. sorry didn't catch who did the flat bed... just a humble welder here... did you list who made this drop dead gorgeous flatbed??? Or who makes it... ? 😎🤓
Nice Build man! Can you shed some light on this issue that I'm dealing with? you have no idea how many times I have watched your video to go over the wiring part for the tail lights. Everything perfectly fine except the hazards, They do not work unless depress the brake pedal.
Did you have to weld on patch plates on your frame before you repainted it? I have a 1994 sitting in my backyard It still runs and drives fine, but the bed and frame has rot issues.
I have 98 Tacoma I built a flat bed for. I bought the Hopkins converter and have similar tail lights I am trying to wire up. For the life of me I can’t get them to work. I watched this video probably 50 times but I can’t see how everything clearly. Is there any possible you draw a diagram explaining this. I’m at my wits end it’s one of the last things I have to do before it’s finished. Thanks 🤘🏼🇺🇸
You never explained the wiring the plug is a 6 prong plug with even more wires going into it. You only talked about taking a 5 to a 4 but how does the 4 go to the 6 prong plu
I have a Volkswagen Taro. Looks in the original . At us, your car would be called-THE dream of the POLICE. Not because they like jeeps, but they like these homemade things to put on the impound lot, due to the fact that it is not possible to legalize them in our country.
Why not just tap the pods into your reverse lights? Most harnesses aren’t long enough to run from the front to the back of the truck. Save a lot of unnecessary wiring IMO. Unless you want to be able to flash some POS tailgating you then I understand. Great video series BTW! I look forward to binge watching the rest of your build thus far since I only found your channel when you started the flatbed project
Ive got square holes in my frame that go all the way through and accept a 1" square tube for my flaps and just have a bungee between both to hold them under the bed, that way i can remove them quick and easy. imgur.com/6w3U83f
I was with you until you cut off your trailer brake plug. Next time get an adapter for your 4 pin instead of running that designated power piece of junk.
Never has any issues with that piece i used in the past. And the previous owner had it wired in very crappy and didnt even have a brake signal to it. So id say i fixed it and it actually works now!!
These videos are very underrated. I’ve really enjoyed watching the whole building series. I’d really love to do something like this to my ranger
Your videos have inspired me to not only tdi swap my jeep comanche but to also flat deck the truck. Great build looking forward to seeing further projects.
What year, I got a 91

Do you have any preference the box you use? How would you hook up your trailer wiring to it as well???

Awesome!! Thank you!!
Insulated crimp connectors are a pet peeve with me, uninsulated with marine shrink tubing. Really great job.
That's one of the nicest flatbeds I've seen....you've given me some inspiration for my 49 Ford build...I think I'm going to make mine dump though....maybe some tool boxes on the sides. Good job.
coming along nicely. can't wait to see how the truck looks once you finish it completely
I gotta say this build is looking absolutely amazing!!!!
This is what I'm trying to do my bed is not that nice but it's a flatbed I'm just trying to fix a few things that I need new tail lights thanks for the help you made it look easy
You did an amazing custom bed! Great job!
Damn. What a badass truck. Makes me wish I had skills
This is awesome! Great job ... can’t wait till you get it finished.
Turned out amazing you're good brother
That thing is looking sick man, can’t wait for the next video!!!
That’s a very nice bed brother great work.
Danggg dude congrats on 10k! Channel is growing quickly and you are getting insane views thanks to your amazing build! Your truck is looking so good
Looks sweet!! Definitely worth the time and money you put into it
Looking good!!! Definitely need something to hide some over the underside of the bed. That would make it like sharp
Beautiful build man great job
I think some tool boxes for the fenders would be sweet
You could hang mudflaps on some of those chain links that are threaded. Hang on a bracket, & easy to take off!! Just an idea... Love the videos!! Keep up the good work, it's appreciated 💯👊🏻
Looks great!!
The truck looks bad ass bro!!!! 😍😍😍😍
heck yeah bro! you killed it
Well I've decided that I'll just ship my truck out to you along with my credit card and pay you to put a tricked out bed on it. Because the one you have is awesome and definitely built to last.

Just4fun69 haha might be a large bill 😉

And for everyone else that asks if they can buy fiberglass frame covers 😅
First! Congratulations! You deserve to be proud of the growth of your channel.
Nice setup!
it's work's fast here!! good job
Looking real good bro !
Badass build! Curious on how to wire 3 wire led lights to the factory tail light wires.
I have to admit , I wasn't liking the gap under the rear tie down loops , ( i'm a bit finicky about details) but now that its coated , I like the look !
Damm that looks nice , great work and fore thought with all the wiring and plugs .
You could run some sheet of poly styrene or ABS plastic from the frame rails vertically up to the flatbed to use as an inner fender liner
So i have the same converter for mine and everything works correctly except the hazards. They do not work unless you put your foot on the brake. Is it possible i have a bad converter?
I'm in the same boat right now and I cannot seem to figure it out! Did you ever figure out this issue???
Looks mad, how come you decided to have the turn signals in that direction, I would have thought the biggest flashing part would be on the outside.
Looks awesome..
That is a very nice looking bed
Nice work!
Nice job brother 😎👊
Very good job 👍
I’ve seen everything from rubber floor mats to UHMW for inner liners.
So that 4 way to 5 way adapter thing I don’t have. Is that why when mine are wired the indicator animation and break animation cut off halfway through?
this thing is so beautiful
I ended up putting a separate led light for the turn signals on my 04 Tacoma, i tried to use the trailer harness, but couldn't get it to work right
Nailed it bro..beautiful track..cant wait to see more project build..congrats to ur channel..keep it up..
You didn’t need any resistors for led tail lights?
I like how those taillights look not a fan of the brake and indicators being the same colour.

You could build some custom side boxes, for chains, straps, jack, spare tire, tools..............
SWEET!!!👍
Awesome
Great job man are you gonna our a toolbox on the flatbed
Just great quality very talented! I'm serious PLEASE get a hold of me when your interested in selling your truck
James Robine shoot you’ll have to out bid me...😂
Someday but not for a while! I need to enjoy this thing for a bit!!

Awesome job on the truck bed build! Have you consider adding a backup camera?
My dude that is sweet, just subscribed.
Congrats over 10k...
Jason 328D thank you!!!
AWESOME WORK LOVE IT...but the tail lights seems to be on the wrong sides they seem to need swapping but who really cares a quick fix for the fast blinker is to wire a normal bulb in the indicator wiring then tape it off...
Did you leave the wiring so that when you take the bed off you use quick connections
imogen telfer yes i did
Really like the flatbed. Great design and overall look for the truck. Since this was about the lights. Curious that you didn't install like a third brake light and cargo/work lights into the headache rack ? Even some side marker lights ?
The TDI Taco 🌮

Price of one of these beds to be built?
Nice Build man!
Can you shed some light on this issue that I'm dealing with?
you have no idea how many times I have watched your video to go over the wiring part for the tail lights.

Dude got the same problem. You ever figure it out
@@yuribuscaglia4201 Sadly I never did :(
Were did you get the trailer light converter I need it for my flatbed to
Links are in the description!
Did you have to weld on patch plates on your frame before you repainted it? I have a 1994 sitting in my backyard It still runs and drives fine, but the bed and frame has rot issues.
No my frame is nearly rust free!
How much does the bed weigh
I have 98 Tacoma I built a flat bed for. I bought the Hopkins converter and have similar tail lights I am trying to wire up. For the life of me I can’t get them to work. You should weld up any holes in the frame and box it were ever you can box it.
I can send you some pics of the frame on mine its not pretty and i had to fix a big crack in mine.
Молодец!
i love it
Gabriel Boucher thank you!

If you dont mind me asking. What color is the truck going to be?
Stock toyota color!
10:54 Was that a spider? Did you defend yourself?
HeadshotOpotamus just a pansy ass stink bug lol
Firstttt boyss
Ohhh shiieeettt!!!!
Really enjoying the build
But DOOD 6:45
ADD much lol
Ничего не понял. Но видос интересный...
I would love to show you a picture of my flat bed Tacoma how can I reach out to you!

Who built this bed?
I did!
The wiring is so simple he says

What state you in ?
WA
Want to build one for my truck
Nick Escujuri I wish I could! They just take way too much time to build
Need red reflectors. Other than that looks good.
You should do a video on how much the flat bed cost. I wanna build a flatbed like this. 😂
No side marker lights? Some highway patrol officer will likely go to town on your truck.
Ive got square holes in my frame that go all the way through and accept a 1" square tube for my flaps and just have a bungee between both to hold them under the bed, that way i can remove them quick and easy. imgur.com/6w3U83f
I’d rather looking into clear mud flaps so it won’t take away from the truck
now you have to take the bed back off to paint the truck
You have 9 thumbs down. What kind of hater would press dislike? Lol
Is your brother older or younger than you
Are you ever going to put some real wheels and tires on it?
dont you think you should paint the back of the cab first
Say what, no camera?
Please... dont install the mud flaps... let the truck like it is
