Granted this town is not the lap of luxury, but it has clean desert air and lots of sunshine, and it is only an hour from Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage/Palm Desert, and 3 hours from Las Vegas!!
@@tednguyen7258have you been to any major city? This entire country is in a drug and homeless crises. Years of not taking care of our own has finally hit the fan. The desert looks great, to me. Depends on perspective, I guess.
The first two weeks of the pandemic of 2020, when everything went on lockdown, we just had a new born baby that week. We couldn’t go anywhere. We were getting cabin fever. Finally we decided to rent a house for the entire initial two week lockdown in 29 palms. It was so bizarre; in the middle of nowhere. The house has no TV, so we missed all of the initial coronavirus panic and 24 hour news coverage.
And, living up to its name, those graceful, stately Washingtonia palms are EVERYWHERE. They're my favorite of all the palms, and also among palms, one of the hardiest.
Damn. doesn't look like a whole lot. did i miss the downtown scene??? and where the hell are all the people. i thought it would be vibrant since the military base is there somewhere?
clearly you don’t live in a massive city- some of us want isolation part-time. The cities are crime ridden full of homeless zombies. Ever hike? Ever go to a relaxed lunch? Try it.
Part of my alternate route when returning home from Vegas. *95 south> 40 West> Kelbaker Rd> National Trails Hwy> Amboy Rd> 62 West* I'm in no hurry to get back to L.A. 😎
It has been 45 for me. I was remembering it as the Alamo Market. I only remember one gas station. Ford's Food and Fuel, and one fast food A&W! Both near the only light in town, and it was a flashing red at four corners.
I drive through there on my trips to SoCal from Texas, and one year the roads were so hot ppls tires were literally melting off on the pavement. It's the most boring stretch of my trip and the kids always fall asleep until we get to "civilization" lol. Everytime I pass through there I think how miserable it must be to live there.
29 palms hasn't changed much over the years, I was born there in 1956 and it's been about 10 years since I've been back, if you can deal with the heat it's a nice place to visit.
Hi we want to visit Joshua Tree N P Is Twentynine Palms a good ares to stay with family or is it like Oakland California were you get robbed Please Advise Thank You
My husband and I were stationed there in 29 palms from 1986-1996. Lived on smoke tree in downtown. Al' s swingers bar on Main street, that sounds familiar and never went to that bar, but know that there was a lot of bars in that town during being stationed there. We could hear a lot of music coming from the beer joint next to a pizza place. The homes we live in on Smoke tree still exist today, but the lot across from the homes, the bar and pizza place, that lot is completely been bulldozed and cleaned up. Downtown 29 palms has changed quite a lot since 1997. We moved from there to New Mexico. I didn't like being stationed in 29 palms. We were stationed there for 10 years. The last four years from 1993-1996 I decided to go to work for Benton Bros. as an sales assistant. It was the only biggest discount sales store to shop at in that town at the time. They had all young dependent marine wifes that only work at that store. And the only young adolescent young teen boys that worked were the Benton bros. family kids. I was ecstatic to get out of that town when my husband ended his career from the marine corps and retired 24 years. We have lived in New Mexico since then. Been happier ever since. And have nice weather here. We moved for the nice weather here. Do get a couple of snow days but it goes away in a day. Have had many years of drought but still get rain when we need it, but could still need more rain here. We're In a drought as like a lot of other states in the west side of the U.S. eerily I for some reason miss hearing about this place. I Must have had some kind of good memories? 😂
@Soldier4JesusChrist I’ve lived in both. Born in a city of over 8 million and have moved around a lot from east coast to west coast to north to south. This place is a no . Can’t wait to leave
@Soldier4JesusChrist depends on your finances and what type of weather you like. If I could I’d go bicoastal. Go back to NYC ( born), stay in Miami during winters ( 1/2 raised) and NorCal area - about 6 years. Definitely don’t recommend New Jersey- hated every minute of the years we lived there . Now, I’d be happy with LA area or a nice area in San Bernardino- Redlands, Beaumont, riverside, corona
@Soldier4JesusChrist Texas has a lot of beautiful cheap homes new builds gorgeous, catch is , most are border towns, hardly anything around. Florida’s muggy heat , mosquitoes I don’t miss . Texas , Nevada if you can brave the heat , passed through snowy Nevada once . Forget the area . Utah - I think of snow , ice . Just do your research and visit. I didn’t do this before buying from 8 hours away. Waiting to gain equity and to avoid capital gains taxes. Once took a cross country Amtrak train 3 days. Lots of stop overs to explore different states . Also on layovers if there’s time, we leave the airport. I’m not even certain if I want to buy again. I don’t stay in one place too long. Not sure why . England is one goal of mine to move to
I grew up in this town 89-95 i still have family there i visit often. When you want to get away from the world 🌎 this is the perfect place it is. It’s very peaceful and relaxing. Don’t expect to much and you will love it.
man fr me and my family use to live out there but we moved back down to LA but rent getting so high now we have to move back but to be honest i can say im Glad because this is truly the place close to peace like you said💯
Jacksonville NC isn’t much to look at but it seemed so much more vibrant than this place. I only came through once to ITX and slept most of the bus ride but I don’t remember it looking this desolate 😆.
Some people panic at first arrival in the Stumps. Like a punishment. Others crack slowly via years of the Stump isolation marathon. But the Stumps is certainly a place where the homesick need not apply. But don't give up too quickly. You've got millions of new gophers and lizards to meet!
Looks like south Morocco..
Nice music bro
Very nice video , and the music is super awesome, what kind of music is that
Thanks! The music style is called dub reggae.

I'm suicidal after watching this.

Ditto, but its changed. Was here as a child in the early 90s
Where's the "Downtown"?? Was it the Mexican Restaurant?
Beautiful Landscape :D

Nice soundtrack :-)

haha I feel like im literally driving down adobe for the millionth time in my life dueces 40 yrs strong love my 29
i am thinking of going to palm desert but this looks ok probly cheaper
It’s cheaper in 29. I’d go to palm desert. You’d have access to more stores and much bigger city . Much closer to civilization

Explain why. Don’t just say that
