Amen.
The solemnity of this hymn combined with the angelic voice of Helene is truly something special. Seeing the flags of our Nordic brother countries flying together in these troubling times and being reminded that only in the heavenly realm we will find true security and an eternal home, gives this song such a special end time vibe!
Mor mi sang denne sangen til meg kvar kveld i heile barndomen min... E heilt utrulig sterkt å høyra den no seinare i livet... Utrulig vakker versjon...
I'm in the choir (Oslo Philharmonic Choir) and we performed this in May 2008. It's from the Norwegian Military Tattoo. Please be welcome to NMT in May 2010, Also this time at Oslo Spektrum.
here's what I found on wikipedia: I know of a heavenly stronghold shining as bright as the sun; there are neither sin nor sorrow and never a tear is shed. I am a weary traveller; may my path lead me from here to the land of my father; God, protect me on my way. We thank you for eternity God the Father, one in three. For you are gentle and mild to us in Jesus Christ! Amen.
I love Lotr but as Tolkien would agree, they are singing about something way more epic and powerful than that :) Here is some of the lyrics translated: I know of a heavenly stronghold shining as bright as the sun; there are neither sin nor sorrow and never a tear is shed. I am a weary traveller; may my path lead me from here to the land of my father; God, protect me on my way. We thank you for eternity God the Father, one in three. For you are gentle and mild to us in Jesus Christ! Amen.
@kristicuk This event is called The Norwegian Military Tattoo, and is held in Oslo every year. Several miltary companies from different countries are invited to join. Why Helene Bøksle was there, I don't know. But I'm glad she was :-)
I haven't looked at wikipedia, but it seems that some of the lyrics are incorrect translated, as far as I can see. But here are the Norwegian lyrics (credits to aconchobhar): Sissel Kyrkjebø, Eg Veit I Himmerik Ei Borg (Castle In The Sky) from the album Deep Within My Soul.
Noe mer følelsesladd må man lete lenge etter.
Fantstisk.
I as well am a US fan and i first heard her heavenly voice in a game age of conan when i hear the song It puts me into tears because her voice is so beautiful and has so much soul you can find the song on my channel please enjoy it

I've watched this video dozens of times. I can't understand a single word of it but that doesn't make it any less beautiful.
Her voice is absolutely beautiful! I have never heard such a brilliant voice before...
Sissel Kyrkjebo did some excellent covers of this (TH-cam)

Nydelig versjon, flinke Helene!
It sounds like a soundtrack of an epic movie like "the lord of the rings". Her voice, the melody and the chorus uplift your spirit. Thanks for posting

God nynorsk for "applaus".
Ich weiss ein ewiges Himmelreich

Hvem er bedre, hun eller Sissel? Det lyder godt ud! Kjempebra :)
Begge er gode på sin måte.

Music is not the basic thing in religion, man.

Det er nydelig!
