this show's characters and plot are very creative. genius idea-mostly improv comedians...shaky yet still animation...going to a therapist to make fun of life like the way it is. miss this show. great show to watch in the winter idk why.
I wish every guest engaged with the show like Steven, Dom, Conan, and some other guests. Steven was great because he just felt like a character instead of a comedian
psychiatrist: do you have intrusive thoughts? patient: impossible psychiatrist: so you have no thoughts that interfere with your ability to function? patient: oh yes! I thought you meant thoughts that come from outside my head
I like how he's the only actually crazy person and isn't just spitting bad standup bits but actually discussing his (obsurd) issues with dr. katz like he's actually at a psychiatrist. Which makes it actually funny.
I love it! All the other comedians are loud and act like they're on stage in Dr. Katz skits, but Steven's skit sounds real like he's having an honest appointment.
@lukepurse9042 I mean, when you go to a therapist you talk about yourself and your views and experiences in life. That's also basic standup. Steven here just does it with the right energy for the show, like a tired guy who is just done with everything.
The dry humor of Dr. Katz is in such short supply now..literally like nothing in media or comedy now are both clever and silly like this it sucks not to be able to find anything like this anymore
And it's hard to get the show too nowadays. Looked it up, it's like over $200 on Amazon. I'm grateful I got it like $100 when it first came out on DVD, the entire series.
I never had the slightest idea that "Intrusive Thoughts" was a thing in the 90s, thought it was coined in late 2010s, if only I would've known. It plagued me.
Dr Katz: Do you have intrusive thoughts? Steven Wright: Impossible. Dr Katz: Thoughts that intrude on your ability to function. Steven Wright: Yes but they're created by me, they're not brought in from outside. I misinterpreted the question. Dr Katz: All of your thoughts are created by you. Steven Wright: Yep Dr Katz: That's the nature of thoughts.
My headcanon is that his issues stem from the deep-seated suspicion that the man who raised him is not his real father. His real father, of course is Space Ghost. This was finally admitted to him at the beginning of an episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
to hell with that dislike! Long live Dr Katz and thank you for posting this! p.s. I'm Jonathan Katz's and Tom Snyder's new animated show "Explosion Bus!" Made from the same offices (house) as Dr. Katz, I hope you all enjoy it!
Stephen Wrights was definitely one of the best interviews/sessions He and Katz, the way they work off each other, how Katz is more involved: it’s quite engaging Though I’m biased: wright was a big influence on me
This Steven Wright sounds like he has a lot of legitimate mental struggles. I have only seen him in a handful of small roles. He seems like a relatable guy.
I caught that too. Good eye hindue. He also changes shoes while in the waiting room, from sandals to loafers (I guess)...same clothes, but maybe his 2 right feet get cold. .

also the facial expressions 😂
The animators called this “Squigglevision”. Seriously.
Because winter is depressing and this guy is depression an winter can’t compete so it becomes abearable

psychiatrist: do you have intrusive thoughts?

Yes, that was a brilliant take on intrusive thoughts!
"...except there's only one guy and there's nothing out there"
ughhhh that's my life haha
Whenever I watch a Steven Wright video on TH-cam and scroll through the comments, I always read them in my mind with Steven Wright's voice.
yeah I remember this show and this one with Steven wright classic
how many were guest stars in this show?
I do remember this show and this one he he he!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😂😂😂😃😄😅😆
@@marioiacolucci It was a cast of hundreds 😁
I read them in the voice of the cop who writes the menus.

"How many cups of coffee do you usually have?"
uhm , usually about 3 - 12
I love it! All the other comedians are loud and act like they're on stage in Dr. Katz skits, but Steven's skit sounds real like he's having an honest appointment.
He’s perfect for this show. Should be a whole series of just Steven Wright and Dr Katz

>:(
@@knuclear200x It fell off the ceiling or something, I wasn't paying attention.
(This guy is nuts).
Steven Wright should have been on the show way more often. Definitley my favorite patient on the show.
Fun fact: he's a USAF veteran. 🛩
I never had the slightest idea that "Intrusive Thoughts" was a thing in the 90s, thought it was coined in late 2010s, if only I would've known. It plagued me.
3:07 S.W. "How abstract are you gunnah get here"
Dr K "...Blue..."
That cracks me up for some reason
Love that Wigglevision. I remember watching this late at night on Comedy Central, back when I was a teacher. Kept me sane.
This needs to return as a podcast.
It actually is, called "Hey we're Back
"I don't know, if you want to notify him or just tell him..."
this is great, so many of the comics just do their routine, this is more organic and original for the show
This is one of my favorite relics from the 90's.
I liked how simple & low key the animated series was. It was around 8yr before Adult Swim.
Damn! Look at all of these ancient comments! From 8 yrs ago!
Steven is the only relevant human there!

I really like the part were Wright asks Katz how abstract he's going to get. It's as if Wrights met his match or something..
My headcanon is that his issues stem from the deep-seated suspicion that the man who raised him is not his real father.
His real father, of course is Space Ghost. This was finally admitted to him at the beginning of an episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
Dammit. What happened to the 90's?
They ended. As all things do.
You can go back to the 90s if you decide to count from 89 onwards

thank you!!! Oh Dr. Katz, how you spoil me with your golden comedy. and of course steven wright xD (and many others). long live good comedy!
I absolutely love Steven wright in Canadian Bacon as Mounty 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Does anyone else hear faint laughter when Steven says that Katz might be involved in his special mission
Yeah because they recorded the show in someone’s pantry in the kitchen. True story
6:34 At thy end of his sentence you can hear someone busting up laughing in the background.
I’ve got a map of the United States… it’s life size. Floating in the Gulf of Mexico it says ‘one mile equals one mile.’ 😏

He said he was born 8 and a half months premature.

If only Steve Wright was on every episode of this show. Priceless
A comedy icon without compare.
That clock with a blinking-eye. Doing my head in.
Do you have intrusive thoughts?
Impossible
This guy gets me.
I can tell by Dr katz questions that he thinks steve is schizophrenic. He even used the word hyper vigilance and intrusive thoughts
He doesn’t know what hyper vigilant means himself.
Also symptoms of PTSD.
The tv 📺 control's your thoughts
The guy on the couch from half baked

Dr. Katz's secretary is a hot cartoon chick

He's a brilliant stand-up.
Michael Shannon sounds alot like Steven
"I love sprouts"
Good call Mr. Wright xXx
Steven Wright at his worst is still better than a lot of other comedians at their best.
Love the David Hume ref 3 minutes in.
Do you think I have a divers body or a swimmers body ?
"I bet you do a really good cannonball."
Wow, this is really genius.
Is it bad that this is both really funny and directly taken from my life? Don't answer that.
Yes and no.
we’ll come back to that one too, ok?
He's just a really good dancer xXx
when he's sitting with the secretary, does he have two right feet?
