  • This was an amazing, if not a tad challenging, hike in North Wales, Snowdonia country. Starting in the rather beautiful Betws-Y-Coed (pronounced dreadfully and for that I apologise). I hiked uphill, quite a constant and calf burning incline, for around 1.5 - 2 miles to the impressive Llyn Elsi.
A rather unexpected huge lake on top of the hills. Many seagulls have made this their home, but also quite a few wild geese.
Then a rather challenging hike over to Swallow Falls. The chance you take when you follow the path less travelled. Washed out paths.. Paths that have turned into bogs. Or paths taken out by huge trees, led to either unplanned diversions or leg sapping climbs up hills.
Still, it was all worth it, despite the little reality moan lol, as I eventually arrived at Swallow Falls... Does what it say on the tin.... £2 entry to the wonderful falls and the numerous viewing platfroms. Just remember though...after almost 7 miles hiking, you'll have to walk back up the steps to get out!!!!
Then back along the river into Betws-Y-Coed - a tad over 4 hours... Was it worth it??? Yes it was, regardless of how I felt the next day. If your legs don't work properly the next day, did you even have a hike lol???

@richarddoyle1878 ohhhh this one broke me 😁. Knee sunk, I went one way, knee went the other. It's not healed properly since. Enjoyed the views though 👌

Another area that's been on my yo fo list, but you wouldn't have gotten me across that hobbit bridge. My first walking and YHA journey was just a hop and a skip down the road at Pont Y Pant, staying at Lledr House. It was the first time I saw a sky slathered in stars, no light pollution. Sent me down memory lane. Such a lovely area to walk. ❤

Lol, I really have no sense of balance with the one eye. One of my challenges then 🙂
