I think everyone misses the idea when Sans talks to Papyrus. When someone dies, chemicals are released that cause hallucinations and euphoria. Sans knew Papyrus was dead, but while Sans was on the brink of death, what always meant most to him was caring for his brother, so that's what his brain created.

I have a theory sans never died the cut was his ketchup but he got hurt from the slice to 0.5 health and teleported to a stable place where ghaster got to so his health would not go down

Farel Craft Tale the dust sounds plays if you spare or kill the monsters, and in this sense if they flee from us. Your kill count stays the same before and after the battle so that states that sans doesn’t die at all. You level up cause well you still technically won. One last thing to add to as why Sans is still alive is because whenever you sleep in undertale your health goes up, it doesn’t add to your max health so you could have 30/20 health. Who knows how many naps sans has taken since him and papyrus has shown up. I don’t know if that’s blood or ketchup but how does Sans even sweat in the first place?
Farel Craft Tale literally look up a video of a pacifist route and that noise is heard after sparing a monster and finishing the fight. Plus why wouldn’t you be leveling up??? Again you technically won the so all are you are missing is some exp cause you didn’t actually kill him.
Farel Craft Tale since you didn’t hurt them in any shape way or form. LV stands for level of violence so it makes sense that the only way to level up is to inflict pain onto a monster during a fight

@@delta4663 because blood isn't a thing monsters have, when they die they turn into dust, determination also isn't a thing monsters have(unless if a monster is somehow born with it or it's artificial determination like Undyne and Sans respectively), red itself represents determination, like Frisk's soul, and everytime they reach a save point they say that they're filled with determination and what determination does is resurrects a human, appearing at the save point, in undertale, monsters can revive as well, the bad thing is that they don't have enough physical matter to handle determination, so in return, they start melting like the amalgamates and Undyne.
