    Awards is the best place to live in Onitsha. The running water issue has to do with the state in general. When water used to run in the state, we always enjoy running water. Fetching borehole water and carry it to climb the stairs to our flat on the fourth floor was a great exercise lol. I hated it but I love Awada to death. I can't live anywhere else in Onitsha except Awada. GRA is like a cemetery lol. I went to GTC Onitsha and I used to visit my classmates who live in GRA. That place is depressing lol. Iba pope Awada was my parish. Thanks for the video. Brings back memories.

      No. The borehole doesn't get connected to the building like you will see in a supposedly high end (or at least relatively high-end area). You climb down from say 6th floor for a bucket of water in the ground floor. It is hell. I left Onitsha nearly 20 years ago and I am shocked to hear that Awada is still that way. People do 6-7 floors without a water connection. Hell.

Not until they failed..... Landlords started creating their own boreholes.....No New building in Awada that doesn't have their own borehole....And they are comfortably enjoying their running water.......Then If their be any building that its water has problems that should be a different case.......

    • @chukschuks5069
      @chukschuks5069 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Onitsha doesn't need to be demolished as it's already planned....that's the new areas like Awada and Woliwo. The Ime-Ogbe are peoples villages and are more than a century old. all Onitsha needs is a massive clean-up, massive planting of trees and open green spaces for good aesthetics and to suck up the carbon-dioxide, water reticulation to all the streets, relocating all those unsightly telephone cables to underground, and strict noise pollution control measures in the neighbourhoods at night. do all this and Onitsha would be unbeatable.
      the problem is that the people running things in their local gov'ts and Awka are usually people that haven't got a clue what it means to manage and create a mega-city....they're a bit to 'local' and unexposed.

    • @okorojnr
      @okorojnr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chukschuks5069 Onitsha Planned you said?Maybe on paper, no implementation. What you just described will entail demolishing a lot. Why? Underground sewer, waste water, and pipe-borne water will have to be laid.
      Of course, the problem with Nigerian cities is that they have no Mayors or City Managers. Instead, governors usurp all the powers and let the so called touts share money calling themselves LGA chair.
      Onitsha has the potential to be our own Lagos in Igboland if only we can get city planners to do real urban renewal. The money is there and commerce thrives there too.
