I read Jackie got one million in cash from her father in law to not divorce John Kennedy because of his womanizing ,and to pay for her shopping sprees! Smart lady!
yes that is true Jackie wanted to divorce JFK and she took the million dollars to stay. Joe Kennedy offered her a million dollars to stay in the marriage because he thought divorce would harm Jack's chances for the presidency. When she married Onassis, she made him pay something like a million dollars each for John John and Caroline as well as money for herself plus $150,000 per annum for life. Christina Onassis referred to Jackie as "the tanker" because her father had to pay out to Jackie as much as one of his shipping tankers. When Onassis died, Christina paid Jackie $25 million to go away and not contest his will.
Jackie was a hypocrite. Jack’s many affairs bothered her, to the point of telling Joe that she was going to divorce Jack, especially for all the STDs she got from him. And, being a woman who’s husband two-timed on her, she did not hesitate to have affairs with Bobby, who had 11 children with Ethel and the very married Maurice Tempelsman as well Paul Newman, Marlon Brando and Roswell Gilpatric……What’s good for the goose is good for the gander in Jackie’s case.
Jackie did not come from a powerful family! Merely a fairly well-off one. There were many, many richer and more powerful families into which JFK might have married. But they would have found Joe Kennedy and his Irish mob rather too raffish.
And Jackie, if memory serves, didn't cut her sister out of her Will. As I understood it she had already helped Lee at earlier points in her life, so considered that to have been her contribution to her sister's needs. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I heard Jackie was doing her thing as well with actors such as william holden etc so without that info u are being one-sided making her out to be a saint when she wasnt
As a teenager in the 1960's, I believed in the "happy family" myth of the Kennedy's Camelot. Jackie advanced American fashion. Her mother was descended from a successful Irish American businessman, not an aristocrat, Jackie's mother believed in marrying for money. Of course, Jackie knew about the infidelities. Back in the day, the press did not delve into the private life of presidents. The affair between JFK and Monroe did not bother Jackie at an emotional level because she knew no Kennedy would marry someone scandalous. As for Onassis, he was hypocritical about Jackie's spending. If he wanted to be married to a celebrity, he should have been willing to tolerate her extravagances. After his son's death, Onassis was never the same and regarded Jackie as a symbol of bad luck. Only his death prevented a divorce. Jackie was expedient, vain, and sometimes pretentious. She was, however, a devoted mother and standard for other First Ladies.
Is it something special to be a devoted mother? Aren't most of us devoted mothers? Hi from a mom of four, not recognized as a devoted mother in the media. 🤣😅😂😉

I seriously doubt that the Bouvier-Kennedy wedding was the talk of the country. I am sure that almost everyone could care less about two spoiled rich kids getting married. People had better things to do and think about.
That wasn't what the times were like in that era, people were invested and enthralled, you clearly weren't alive at that time nor have delved into it as a historical vignette in time
@@bethewalt7385oh I was absolutely alive in that era plus my parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles, and friends were alive then. Only one aunt liked the Kennedys and was impressed with the Kennedys. That aunt and another aunt voted for JFK and LBJ in 1960. Everybody else voted for Nixon and Lodge. I have also read about the Kennedys and seen movies and TV shows about the Kennedys so I know for a fact that Americans were not as impressed with the Kennedys as this pro-Kennedy propaganda claims.
@@Sleeper2345678 at the time of jfks death he was under investigation by republicans in congress. He was sharing a mistress with the mafia, he was involved with an East German spy at the height of the Cold War, and it at least looked suspicious that Marilyn Monroe died soon after a Kennedy affair. Had he lived the investigation would have continued. If he were not forced to leave office, he most certainly could not have run for reelection. Years later bill Clinton wondered why jfk “got away with it “ and he didn’t. No he didn’t. He didn’t live long enough
After their son died, John and Jackie had a closeness they hadn’t had previously. John went to their baby and stayed with him until he passed. Jackie was unable to do so as she was in no shape after the birth to do so. The loss of Patrick, John acting as a husband should, then Jackie traveling to stay on Onassis’ yacht being treated like a Princess which caused John to suffer horrible jealousy brought them incredibly close. Jackie hadn’t planned on campaigning with her husband for his second run for President but agreed to travel to Texas with him. I guess she was suppose to make that trip with him as then they were so happy together and she got to spend his last moments of life with him. You skipped what I feel was important to Jackie’s story, her relationship with Robert Kennedy after her husband’s assassination. Then her reaction to Bobby’s murder with her saying if they were killing Kennedys her children especially John could be next. That’s when Jackie agreed to marry Onassis as she knew her children could be safe with Onassis’ island and vast security detail. Their marriage had nothing to do with retribution for Lee’s supposed affair with John. If Robert hadn’t been killed, I seriously doubt she would have married the creepy man. That marriage was about protecting her children for as she pointed out the Secret Service had failed to protect her husband, and Bobby’s private security failed to protect him. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful perspective on their relationship. It’s fascinating and heartbreaking to consider the impact of these events on their lives.
Their son's death, the result of lung problems likely due to Jackie's heavy smoking and drinking, all her babies were small, came early, she additionally had miscarriages, she refused to quit smoking or drinking, for any reason to include her unborn babies
It's not a 'Kennedy curse', it's a mix of Karma & really bad luck. Jackie though, is lucky that Onassis died when he did or she wouldn't have gotten anything from his estate. Before she died, she would invite old friends, one at a time, they'd go over old letters, then she'd burn them in her fireplace to to keep so many secrets private.
Jacqueline was much smarter than Lee! Jacqueline graduated George Washington University ( in Washington DC). Lee dropped out of college after only one year. Herbert Ross ( Film Director) only wanted her because she was the little sister of Jacqueline Onassis!
Being married to or dating a Kennedy was no easy life for any woman and often ended in a disaster for the woman as shown in the lives and deaths of many Kennedy wives and girlfriends. Makes you wonder why women don't run the other way when they meet a Kennedy. Jack was actually still legally married to another woman at the time he married Jackie. He had previously married Durie Malcolm in 1947 in a Justice of the Peace ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida after a night of heavy drinking and partying with a group of his friends and Durie.. Old Joe Kennedy after finding out became enraged and sent one of his Mafia contacts into the Public Records Office to find and destroy the Marriage Certificate, thinking that that would end the matter. Details of this episode and subsequent efforts to suppress this information can be found in a variety of books and memoires of people who witnessed and were involved in the event. "The Other Mrs. Kennedy" and "The Dark Side of Camelot" , as well the memoires of Frank Rogano "Mafia Lawyer" give interesting details about this and other Kennedy shenanigans. Durie went on to marry others as well. She listed Jack on her family tree as one of her husbands. Happy reading !
It’s true-the Kennedys’ relationships are filled with so much history and complexity. Thank you for adding such a thoughtful perspective to the conversation!

Thank you for a wonderful tribute to a captivating woman. I loved Jackie's style, her elegance, her poise, her intelligence and beauty. She was a polyglot and spoke French, Spanish and Italian and was deeply interested in American history. She worked to preserve the nation's cultural heritage by establishing a committee of experts to locate and restore furniture and artwork that had been owned by presidents or had been part of the White House collection thus restoring it to reflect its architectural and artistic history, its original elegance and to protect its holdings. @@ElizzzaB but I’m pretty sure the entire time that Lee was seeing Aristotle she was married to someone else. Lee had dozens of affairs. Joe Kennedy Sr. picked out Jackie’s wedding gown, which she hated. Try reading some books on the Kennedy’s, so you have a better idea of that about which you are speaking.
MANY of these photos are from the weekly (and later monthly) LIFE magazine, which met her high standards and was a winning combination for her, the public, and LIFE.
I have read a lot about Jackie Kennedy. There were a couple of incidents in this documentary that I had never heard before. One, that Marilyn Monroe called Jackie Kennedy. I have never read that, nor do I believe it. The second was that Aristotle Onassis was behind the pictures of Jackie's nude sunbathing. As time progresses there will be many more rumors of things that supposedly happened. Everything else seemed factual with what I have read. Jacks father wanting Jackie as a daughter-in-law, offering her money to stay with Jack. Her reluctance to marry Jack. His being on a cruise when she delivered a still born child, and not rushing to her side. Her reasons for marrying Onassis, and her reasons for marrying him. I am old enough to remember the Kennedys and their time in the White House. The one thing I really disagree with is that rumors swirled all through the country about his affairs. Absolutely not true. No one knew for years, the press knew, but back then the press shielded these facts from the public.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It’s always fascinating to hear how new details resonate with viewers. I appreciate your perspective and hope you found the documentary insightful!
She was elegant , educated and a role model and a fabulous mother…..and her own parents weren’t so great. One of my heroes! 😂and now we have sunken to the depths of a Melania who hates being in Washington?
It would be customary to leave her only sister something. Maybe not money, but a cherished piece of jewelry or a painting. Lee was wealthy in her own right, so she didn’t need Jackie’s money, but to leave nothing at all was a huge snub.

"The UGLY Truth" about some of the negative comments here about the late beautiful inside and out Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, one of the most beautiful First Ladies ever who went through such severe tragedies in her life! Remember, after a miscarriage and stillborn birth, a daughter, she had just lost her third child and newborn son just three months before she lost her beloved husband with his head shot off right before her very eyes! I dare anyone to go through something that horrific in life, no surprise that she had C-PTSD after that and had suicidal ideation briefly and became a near alcoholic herself as was brought out in a very in-depth book about her in recent years! Only to lose a beloved brother-in-law five years later and another near tragedy with his younger brother in a plane crash which was also a prevalent tragedy in that family, plane crashes and why she didn't want her beloved son, JFK Jr. to ever fly a plane! Unfortunately, too many on social media want to dwell on the salacious gossip and rumors that abound! Negative news always sells, big time! Jackie was a great attribute to JFK, spoke fluent French and Spanish, was a real intellect, had creative artistic talents, was cultured, elegant, the epitome of real class and more fashionable than most previous First Ladies in the 20th century and helped JFK with his speeches, helped to restore the White House, the first to have a televised tour of the WH, saved Lafayette Park in Washington DC. and Grand Central Station in NYC, was a member of the NYC Historical Society, a senior book editor at Doubleday, while raising her two remaining children. "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"....old saying, still true! May she rest in peace~💜💜💜💜
This is outright poorly done. The videos didn’t match the voiceover points. A sibling is not required to receive death benefits. Gifts, given in love. And that’s not a requirement.
Since i was a kid, i had been totally fascinated by Jacqueline Kennedy...as a matter or fact, our household were at the time pro Kennedys all the way. But Jacqueline was really the woman of the time....beautiful, serene, classic and sophisticated...she was and will always remained my number one lady and the First Lady of the USA. Rest in Peace.
Chanel Haute Couture jacket, F/W 1961. Kennedy's suit was a line-to-line copy made by Chez Ninon in New York based on the original design. This is an original haute couture jacket in the same raspberry pink but with black silk trim made by Coco Chanel in Paris.
Too bad the pictures don't match what's being discussed overall here. And, "Jackie O" is a very out of date name/referral, as Aristotle died 50 years ago, Jackie Kennedy, 30.
So,the truth was out there for anybody who wanted it.... at the same time it stayed hidden from the rest of us who would have simply been depressed by it. lol How crazy it must be to live in two separate worlds AT THE SAME TIME.

Beautiful? One of the best first ladies? Certainly an intelligent human being and lucky in her circumstances of birth. Managed to marry a man clearly likely to be a future POTUS. But frankly, I would never have given this person a second look if I saw her on the street, and despite her intelligence very shallow in many ways and always out for "number 1". Quite a few celebrities who are supposed to be beautiful are in fact no better or worse than the average gal you see around town. Some, only very few, do have what the French call "that certain I don't know what", and I can see why some people might apply that phrase to Grace Kelly. But not Jackie. Not in the slightest.

In my ENTIRE life, even as a small child, there were ONLY two women I ABSOLUTELY loved, admired & respected, other than my own family members, were The Late Queen Elizabeth II & the Late Jacqueline Kennedy. Now, there is ONLY one. The Late HRMQEII, herself. This is because I read how UTTERLY rude & petty Jackie had been to HRMQEII, during she & President Kennedy's visit, in June 1961, to the U.K. I will NEVER buy ANY book about JBK again. At the moment, I must have about ten books, if not more, about her. JBK described Buckingham Palace as "second-rate, dilapidated & sad, like a neglected provincial and sad, like a neglected provincial hotel". Ironically, JBK used almost the same words in describing the White House, when she went on her first Pre-Inaugural visit, with Mamie Eisenhower in Dec 1960. JBK, then described HRMQEII as "A middle-aged woman, so incurious, unintelligent and unremarkable that Britain's new reduced place in the world, was not a surprise but an inevitability." That SIMPLY was behavior that The Late Queen Elizabeth, would NEVER have indulged in. She was a TRUE lady in EVERY sense of the word. I'm American, but a Royalist, in my heart & soul. Finally, JBK had even flirted with Prince Philip. Both HRMQEII & JBK were married to men who were HUGE flirts. Knowing this would hurt the Queen, she did it anyway. WOW !!
Why do AIs allway can't Pronounce ,said something over and over. I can't stand that .2nd Jackie new what he was, she thought she could win miss back over and he will see ,he can't ever leave

Thanks, I know practically everything about the late beautiful inside and out Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis since I've followed her iconic life ever since the early 1960s when I was in my teens and lived not far from her in NYC and summered on the Cape as well not far from the Kennedy compound. Another iconic beauty and famous woman whose life paralleled Jackie's though they also had vastly different lives was the late beautiful inside and out Hollywood actress, humanitarian Audrey Hepburn! Both were also born in 1929 like the late beautiful inside and out, humanitarian and former Hollywood actress Grace Kelly aka Princess Grace, and both Audrey and Jackie came from parents who had both divorced and had strained relationships with their fathers though Jackie was worshiped and adored by her alcoholic father than Audrey's father who disappeared until she tracked him down in Dublin, Ireland, though they ended up never really close. Both Audrey and Jackie suffered miscarriages and had stillborn children because both had been lifelong smokers i.e. nicotene addicts that also contributed to their cancers that they both died from in their early 60s. They also shared a love for famous French fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy and wore his fashions though many of Jackie's fashions were knock offs of Givenchy designed by American designer Oleg Cassini who was of noble Italian lineage who was once engaged to marry Grace! I'm a retired former NYC fashion illustrator who was around when the three of them were at the pinnacle of their lives, the three top classy, elegant fashion icons back then who led very fascinating lives! I have most of the books written and published about them! All three literally had grace under fire and passed away before their time, may they rest in peace~💜💜💜

Yes, her mother taught her well.
Good for Jackie.

Onassis suffered from myasthenia gravis, a debilitating neurological disease that affected his heart, and he ultimately died of respiratory failure, which was a complication of this condition.
Your information is very helpful to me
No comparison whatsover ! Day and night as far of beauty and personality. Grace Kelly is the epitoma of beauty and refinement in a woman. Jackie is a good looking woman hard as nail with intelligence.
I have noticed that in All your documentaries the pictures displayed don’t line up with the narrative. Why is that? it’s like watching a dubbed film where the words don’t line up with the mouth. Makes it hard to watch.
I will try to do better. Thank you for your very positive feedback. Stay tuned for my upcoming videos; they will be much better than the ones I'm making now.
Good!
Because they're lazy.
Exactly!
Jackie was intelligent elegant and dignified
I am convinced her heavy smoking affected the health of her children.
It has harmed her health. I also have a friend who smoked, and I successfully convinced her to quit. Her health is now very good
@@HollywoodQuest They blamed Kennedy's sexual encounters for Jackie's gyno problems, but it is quite likely the smoking did not help.
Mine also Same time.
She died of a lymphoma at age 64, likely unrelated to smoking, although it doubtless lowered her immune system.

Jacqueline was much smarter than Lee! Jacqueline graduated George Washington University ( in Washington DC).
Lee dropped out of college after only one year. Herbert Ross ( Film Director) only wanted her because she was the little sister of Jacqueline Onassis!
"Yer sister's purdy" 😂

You are clueless as a rock. Jacqueline helped raise the children of Lee. This was found out after Jacqueline died! Jacqueline had also loaned,Lee money for years!
Jacqueline paid for the expensive schools of Anthony and Caroline.. Those kids were the kids of Lee and a high status but financially distressed Polish Exile ( the husband of Lee- Stas Radziwill)!
Lee had financial problems before her last marriage to the Millionaire Director ( Herbert Ross).
Thank you for a wonderful tribute to a captivating woman. I loved Jackie's style, her elegance, her poise, her intelligence and beauty. She was a polyglot and spoke French, Spanish and Italian and was deeply interested in American history. She worked to preserve the nation's cultural heritage by
establishing a committee of experts to locate and restore furniture and artwork that had been owned by presidents or had been part of the White House collection thus restoring it to reflect its architectural and artistic history, its original elegance and to protect its holdings. I thought I knew pretty much everything about Jackie, but I didn't know Lee had an affair with Jack before his marriage, so I have learned something else about this fascinating story of the Kennedys.
And Jackie married Ari who was clove to Lee. They hurt each other?
@@ElizzzaB but I’m pretty sure the entire time that Lee was seeing Aristotle she was married to someone else. Lee had dozens of affairs. At least Jackie was single while she was having her affairs with different men between JFK and marrying Aristotle. Lee on the other hand was having several marriages and several affairs all overlapping. But I’m pretty sure she was married while still seeing Aristotle. There is a podcast called Trashy Divorces and they did a whole series on Aristotle Onassis. It was 13 episodes long and it is a fantastic listen I highly recommend it!

Wealthy people not only leave to their children but also to relatives, friends, for example as well as to charities of course.

Ironically, JBK used almost the same words in describing the
White House, when she went on her first Pre-Inaugural visit, with Mamie Eisenhower in Dec 1960.
JBK, then described HRMQEII as "A middle-aged woman, so incurious, unintelligent and unremarkable that Britain's new reduced place in the world, was not a surprise but an inevitability."
That SIMPLY was behavior that The Late Queen Elizabeth, would NEVER have indulged in.
WOW !!
