Great video and nice work bringing your R100 RS back to life with a nice service. I haven't any videos about the Krauser 4 Valve system so far, but it's really cool to see it on your bike! This is a setup I'd love to find (or even an engine kit)...but they are getting harder to find by the day. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the kind words. Agreed, the kits are getting really hard to find, might be easier to find a bike with the conversion already installed.

The Krauser heads are rare because they were very expensive when they were being made. The other issue with them was that four valve springs exert more pressure than two so they wore out or damaged the cam lobes and cam followers

Wish you did more videos on this bike. What do you get out of the 4v conversion? is it just more revs? was there a high compression piston installed?

I can promise there'll be more videos on this bike, but I can't promise when I'll get around to it.
I bought the bike with the conversion installed, so some of my information is a bit secondhand.
You don't get any more revs out of the engine as the bottom end is the same, the main changes are the heads and the pistons - the latter mostly to accommodate the additional valves.
These heads flow a lot better than the stock ones, and the result is a noticeable bump in mid- to upper midrange power, and some more top end power. The previous owner who did the conversion opted to keep the Bing carbs, which does limit the amount of top end power gain. Usually if one wanted to ensure that one get all the benefits from this conversion, the carbs would be replaced with Dell'Ortos which would result in a nice top end power bump as well.
Oh, and you also get a lot of extra drive train noise - those heads are not quiet, even when compared to a regular 2V head.

My R100 RS is smoke red. 1980 model. It's been parked up and neglected in my garage for 22 years I'm ashamed to say. I got side-tracked by a couple of K bikes. The calipers seized, the petrol turned into a horrible brown goo, and of course the battery rotted away. Something made me kick my ass into gear and sort her. I cleaned out the tank and carb bowls and replaced the rotted fuel lines. I connected a battery and was amazed that it started straight away after all those years. I didn't keep her running too long because of the old oil (although it was still a nice golden colour) I'm sourcing a 20/50 mineral oil with an essential additive called ZDDP, essential for these bikes. I don't know if it applies to your 4 v head conversion model? Is synthetic recommended? Anyway, next job is the calipers and brake overhaul. I want that flat twin back on the road!!!

Good luck getting your RS back on the road! I hear you on getting distracted, that's pretty much what tends to happen to me on a regular basis, too!
