I can't believe "John Wick-ing" became a verb. 😆😂
I don't speak Russian but I love when you evaluate Russian in the movies you watch. And I can relate to your feelings, my mother tongue is Spanish and in US movies you can see tons of speaking and writing mistakes 😂😂 Love you girl, great video!
I agree with this entirely, even though I only speak English. She does an excellent job of pointing out the errors American movies often make (Red October was another example) when using Russian (or as you said, Spanish and I imagine others as well) dialogue, spelling, etc. and it really makes no sense given what they spend to make movies like this and how easily it can be checked. My theory is they are just playing the odds of most Americans not knowing the difference, which, while likely true is still not an excuse. Playing to the stupid may make you rich, but it's not a virtue. Great channel.
same for german, always interesting to have a native's point of view!
Same here but for me It's the swedish lines in english movies, usually awful 😂
@@pete3610 Yes, it's disappointing that given the amounts they spend they don't give more importance to this. I agree, they are playing their odds, but they forget that many people outside and inside US are multilingual. One exception I remember is "Frozen", they asked for Dr. Jackson Crawford's help about the runic inscriptions on a book there. My best regards from Chile!
@@cesarvidelacit's because it's not important. It's a movie, you can suspend your disbelief enough to make up for the non perfect dialect
I love that the movie shows Robert going out of his way to help other people in so many different ways: emotional support, inspiration, personal training, cleaning and construction, etc., and I really appreciate how much Fuqua cares about the minor characters like Ralphie and Jenny. The people Robert helps don't feel like props to give him the appearance of altruism; they feel like real people, people you would recognise if you met them on the street.
I used to watch the 1980s TV show The Equalizer, which this movie is based on. I never did watch the new Equalizer TV show though. This movie is another great one by Denzel Washington👍
Imagine John wick, nobody, taken, peppermint, reacher, rambo and the equalizer had a crossover 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Add the guy from NOBODY
And Brian from Taken.
And Jennifer Garner in Peppermint.
Don't forget REACHER.
As John Wick says.... Yeah
You might like Man on Fire it’s also with Denzel but tissues are a must with that movie
By far my favorite Denzel movie.
Is it true that Denzel & Dakota Fanning are teaming up again for Equalizer 3?
Agreed!
Well, now I want Dasha to watch "Nobody" (2021) to see a real Russian actor playing a Russian bad guy in an American movie as well as some great action and humor.
not to mention my by far favorite fight scene....
The bs scene imo was the claymore scene.....
Nobody (2021)
Somebody (2024)
Everybody (2027)
@@luxurybuzz3681 That too good!
5:07 Now _this_ is a bad sign. It's _never_ a good sign when a prostitute is wearing sunglasses, indoors, at night. She's hiding bruises.
And this is the main reason I've long held that prostitution needs to be legal _everywhere._ It _happens_ everywhere, legal or not, but where it's legal, a prostitute has the option to go to the _police_ when she's assaulted by her client. She has the option to press _charges._ Where it's _not_ legal, she just has to _live_ with it, because she's a criminal, _too._
In the 80's TV series Edward Woodward played Robert McCall and he was a retired British agent
If you have a job and no one else will help... Edward Woodward would😁
I thought he was ex-CIA, hence living in NY.
I used to love the original show ( yes, I'm that old. He used the classifieds and a wired telephone with an answering machine Yes, THAT old.
Edward Woodward had the best guest role in The Lone Gunmen episode.
Another good Denzel Washington movie that is worth watching is The Book Of Eli. I love the scene when Robert and Teddy meet for the first time. Nice reaction as always.
Yep! TBOEli is must-see! Man On Fire and Equalizer and book of Eli are on my personal Mt Rushmore of Denzel movies.
Woord but „the mighty quinn“
Missing? 😂🤣😂🤣👍👍👍
Yes to The Book of Eli. 👍 Denzel is great! Great characters by Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis too!
This is the first time I have heard John Wick used as a verb. Loved it!
"He's working for Justice," Dasha. hahaha! that was a good one
FYI, this film was released 1 month before John Wick in late 2014.
Denzel has made many good movies but I believe his best is MAN ON FIRE.
“He’s about to paint his masterpiece.”
This movie doesn't get enough attention imo, not with movies like John Wick and the more flashy type ones. Thank you for doing this one, it's one of my favorites.
Turf means grass and the surface layer of earth held together by its roots. It is used as slang to mean territory. Turf war is gangs fighting over territory.
"Turf" is also used for the natural or artificial grass surface of an American football field. I think that's why the word gained its secondary meaning: because much of that sport is about capturing territory from the other team (i.e. "driving the ball down the field").
10:54 he apologized to himself because he promises wife he that he would never go back to that life again
Speaking of Denzel Washington being older, Dasha should watch "Unstoppable" (2010) based on the real-life CSX 8888 incident in which Denzel plays a veteran railroad engineer being forced into retirement who risks his life to stop a runaway freight train full of toxic chemicals from crashing.
When Robert has the guy locked in his car with exhaust fumes coming in, the cars engine is on so he could just put the window down himself.
I just wanna hear Dasha speaking full Russian one day, for like a solid 5 minutes; by now I'm so used to how she sounds in English, I'd be mind-blown to hear her just perfectly " serenade" in beautiful Mother Russia toungue!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Let's face it, here in America we don't even use English properly. Always love your reactions Dasha.
Dasha: Regarding your reaction to The Equalizer: Sometimes companies misspell words on purpose so people will know who it is when people see those misspelled words or so they will fit on a sign better. The bad guy didn't "break the glass for unluckiness." He was shooting the mirrors so that Denzel's character, Robert, couldn't see him in the mirrors.
Dasha, it's a very special thing to have you watching and translating some of the Russian that is spoken. Thank you for your insights! They make your reactions even better.
I feel similar frustration when they use incorrect spelling or grammar in movies when using Spanish, even though there are more Spanish Speaking people in the US than Russian speaking people, it seems like they don't want to put any effort in finding someone who makes a correct check.
Thanks for your review, for providing more feedback on what they say in Russian and as always, for a wonderful reaction.
If you're liking being on the Denzel train, I'd recommend both Remember the Titans and Glory. Denzel won an academy award for Glory for best supporting actor.
I had to see your reaction to this, not just cause it's a great Denzel movie (they all are) but because, obviously, I knew you would catch and evaluate the Russian dialogue.
0:25 i like the popups
Agreed 😊
Buck 90 does indeed mean 190 pounds. Well done
Another great movie about Russian gangsters is Eastern Promises (2007) with Viggo Mortensen.
David Harbour, the man who plays the dirty cop, also plays Jim Hopper in Stranger Things. I believe he’s very underrated as an actor
He also played Alexei, the Red Guardian, in Black Widow. And Santa Claus in Violent Night.
Discipline when trained properly. He is a very motivational man many speeches on college campus. The misspelling is most likely by design to avoid legal consequence.
People would love to see a crossover movie between John Wick Jason Bourne in The Equalizer
I like watching you watch a movie with Russian. Your critiques are great. If you liked this and John Wick, I recommend the movie “The Accountant”.
31:53 that wasn’t a harpoon, that was a pruning saw on a pole for pruning high branches
Hey Dasha, I wanted to give you some background info on the Equalizer movie. Its based on the 1980s series - The Equalizer. A British actor named Edward Woodward played Robery McCall. He was an Ex-intelligent agent, wears suits & He drives a Now-classic 80's Jaguar. The TV series also had a cool theme song as well. A music channel by the name of Enzomusic - He does very Cool remixes of 80's movies & TV series. The Equalizer, Robocop movie, Airwolf, and The Delta Force are really cool Remixes & some of my favs. 80's sinth and keyboard are some of my All-time favs & I also grew up in the 80;s. Cheers.....
Being ex hardcore Army, I knew a couple guys like this. And got a offer to do something like this. But I wanted a normal life. I realize most people, and those like u, don't think there are people out there, like this. But we are out there. Either by pay, by beliefs, or by choice and random.
hello young lady dasha, i do enjoy watching your movie reactions. one of your remarks surprised me tonight. during one of the action scenes you said "he's john wicking him". haha i thought that was priceless and cute. i will remember that comment forever :) have a great night dasha.
"...and this wraps up my 'who is older and who is younger in which movie' observation."
thank you for putting a smile on my face!!! :)))
Yes they should get the Russian spelling right , THANKS for educating us Dasha , i always enjoy tour reactions.
Robert McCall as The Equalizer is one of my three favorite action character, along side with Bryan Mills from Taken and John Wick. Those three together in one movie would be awesome.
Great reaction as usuall Dasha. 👍
I ❤ it that you are letting us know what they are saying and what they got wrong or what they are trying to say 👏👏👏👏👏😁😁😁
Thanks for posting Ryan. Me too. 👍 I am learning Russian. Спасибо. Я учу русский язык.
"He's John Wickin them" Lmao, Dasha, you have the best quotes
One of my favourite action movies. Love your reactions
Thank you Dasha for the Russian translations it’s actually makes the movie better knowing what they say. Plus it sounds good when you say it haha. 👍👌
Turf is piece of land, so when they have a turf war it’s rivals fighting over a certain location kinda
Thank you Dasha! I have been waiting for you to react to this movie. Like others who have commented, I love to hear your comments about Russian dialog, but I enjoy the entire reaction. You are a sweetheart!
Helllouu Dasha🖖😎
Hey that was funny or not?? I can’t wait to see part2 👍😂✌️
Greets and cheers 🇭🇷
MIK
PS.:Spasibo za tvoy vremya …right?😉
More good Denzel Washington:
"The Equalizer 2" (2018) w/ Pedro Pascal
"Man On Fire" (2004 remake) w/ Dakota Fanning
"Fallen" (1998) w/ John Goodman
"The Taking of Pelham 123" (2009 remake) w/ John Travolta, Luis Guzman, James Gandolfini
"Glory" (1989) w/ Matthew Broderick, Morgan Freeman, Andre Braugher, Cary Elwes. Based on true events
"The Pelican Brief" (1993) w/ Julia Roberts based on a book by John Grisham
Equalizer 2 is great as well! #3 is supposed to come out later this year.
1:35 One point they're illustrating, here, is that our hero, Robert knew _exactly_ how long it took to get something done, and one thing they're establishing is that Robert _monitors_ this kind of detail.
2:35 There he is again.
Combined with the intro, especially how he cleans up immediately after meals and stuff - I know that when I first watched this, my initial thought was 'oh, someone has some spicy neurology going on', but with the reveal it just shows how ingrained his training is, even though he's supposed to be retired.
My Favourite Scene will always be that Final Speech at The Restaurant. ESPECIALLY His Words.
"Your heart is Bleeding fast because you're losing too much Blood. That Girl You beat half to Death? Her life is gonna go on.. yours is goin' to End, right here; on This Funky Floor. Over $9800. You should've taken The Money." 😒
I also love your input on The "Mistakes" that they make.. and sadly, it's kind of a common theme/trope in Hollywood Movies. 😅🤷 I would take to hazard a guess that someone, ALMOST put a Dude in a Track-Suit in The Movie.. before someone stepped in and cut the scene out. 🤦
Which is strange to me.. because if they have The Money to Make such a Big Movie. Why not just hire a Russian to look at some of The Stuff? To see if it's Realistically Passable? Anyways, Great Video Dasha. ☺️
I don’t speak Russian but hearing you speak it makes me want to it seems like a good language to learn and it sounds beautiful to my ears my mother tongue is English and I’m American and from watching your videos Russia looks like it has very beautiful women your reactions are very entertaining ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
As others have said please watch Man on Fire. I'd recommend having tissues ready for every movie you watch. You never know when you're going to need them.
Great reacted Dasha, as expected, now I just hope you liked the movie enough to react to the sequel in future.
The sequel is almost as good! :)
Very nice reaction. I think You should watch another Denzel movie - Deja vu. There is typical Denzel, very good acting, sci-fi elements and an interesting story.
10:25 "He's John wicking them"😂👍
The Equalizer movies are based off of a US TV series from the 1980s where a former / retired British SAS operative living in the US helps people who have nowhere else to turn.
" he works for JUSTICE !!"
Denzel,,, you need to hire Dasha . She catches all the misspelled russian words in your film. Whoever is supposed to be in charge of that is not doing their job. I know you wont see this but hire Dasha.
Why would Denzel hire her? He’s not going through TH-cam comment sections dude, he has a family and a successful career. You say this like he made The Equalizer movies lol. Plus its done on purpose, its not that “the person in charge isn’t doing their job” 😂
Great Reaction 🎉
Makes you wonder what the person in your favorite cafe knows ...
lol ... The next time you are shopping in a hardware store ... items may look different.
Again ... Thanks for reacting to this movie 😊
I was in a hotel lounge in Montreal like ……20 years ago …….sitting next to a Russian couple and listening to them talk …….thinking ….damn that’s a cool language……I should learn it someday …………of course I did not lol……..and now when I hear Dasha talk it’s like ….DAMN !!! I should not have been lazy lol . Because it really is a beautiful language.
14:46 comment, the protector helps maintain a balance when people exert power to make things unequal,, A protector is an equalizer.-Ernie Moore Jr.
I finally learn what "Dedushka" means lol Equalizer 2 is very good as well. Can't wait for Equalizer 3 this year!
I love this movie; thank you for another delightful reaction. And the russian language insights.
For an english language insight, "turf" battles refers to "territory", a common concern for gangs.
A shame they couldn't get the spelling right.
Have a great day, Dasha.
11:35 comment guess, you are right..turf is ground with grass. Gangs are possessive of the land they claim as theirs. Violate their area of land or try to take it is a war over land--a turf war.-Ernie Moore Jr.
It's really cool getting your Russian background to help with the movie. I loved it.
Dear Dasha. I'd love to see you react to the movie "nobody". I'd love your take on the Russian in this film. Strangely I think it's pretty good.
Fun fact: Alexey Serebryakov who plays the lead bad guy is from Russia, so his Russian is great. However, though, technocally, he speaks English, his English is like the Spanish I learned in elementary school, so he learned his English dialogue for the movie phonetically.
The girl from this is in a great vampire movie called Let Me In - Chloe Grace Moretz - also in Kick Ass
IMHO the best movie he has done so far is "The Book of Eli"... If you haven't seen it you need to
Chloe Moretz plays a vampire in Let Me In. A great movie.
Hey I wanted to recommend that movie too. It's one of my favourite vampire movies.
Thanks for your reaction, great as always. Keep up the great work, you’re the best. I know American movies don’t always paint Russian gangs and characters in the brightest light. But I always appreciate and enjoy your insight on these characters. Thank you.
Marton Csokas = The Lord of the rings elf king Celeborn + many more caracters.
One of my favorite movies... reviewed by my favorite online reviewer/reaction person. Dasha, don't ever change. You're like sunshine. Such a lovely personality and doesn't hurt to be so easy on the eyes too :)
Can I recommend a movie I think you would really like? Apocalypto -directed by Mel Gibson.
Thank you for another cool rection video 😎. On the topic of languages - your American English is so ggod, I think you could teach grammar to American students!🤩
Dear Hollywood, please hire Dasha as a set adviser if you are making films involving Russian characters and language
Glad you finally saw this movie. Its a great movie plus I like seeing you pick apart the inaccuracies of Russian. Robert is very OCD as you saw the details in the movie. The movie is based on a television show from the 80s, The Equalizer. You should watch the second one also. Since you have seen this and the John Wick movies, you should watch Collateral, it stars Tom Cruise and he's in a different type of role from what he usually plays. Love that movie
The other Equalizer movies are equally good 👍👍👍
I love how you set the record straight with the Russian, It becomes a learning experience : ).
I love that Dasha is perfectly happy to let men be men. It does not bother her one bit, in fact she enjoys it. Thank you Dasha.
"He's John Wicking them"... I spat my coffee all over the screen :)
What a good movie. Denzel is great. I like your lashes Dasha.
More strategic than John Wick.
John Wick was know for using a pencil. Robert Mccall used everything in the room as a weapon and wiped out a group in 30 seconds.
The small hammer that resembles the much larger, sledge hammer, is called a "maul".
Just for interest .. I think it was Jason Bourne (Bourne Identity) that was the forerunner to these movies. He certainly was the first one to use a 'pen' so creatively.
Yes, "a buck ninety" means 190 pounds, which is 86 kilograms.
"He's John Wicking them" 😂
One of those “Russian Pimps” played Johnny Crowder in Justified.
“He’s John Wicking them.” Lol
I especially like watching your reaction to movies that have to do with russia good or bad. I like how you explain to us that something is correct and that you translate what is being said in russian. I also like how you become frustrated when they dont spell russian correctly and I dont blame you I would be the same. Keep doing what you are doing and we love you. Steve
my favourite part is when he equalizes everybody
I agree with you that the director should do a better job with the language. I have been teaching myself Russian for 3 years and even I can see the mistakes!
Спасибо. Я учу русский язык. May I ask you a question regarding learning Russian language Hawkmaster 381?
@@johnmguzman7491 Yes
Its amazing how much stuff in movies is wrong when they don't get another language correct. You would think they would get an actual native speaker to double check stuff and make sure things are right but so many movies they don't.
“He’s John Wicking them!” 😀
Dasha, Hollywood needs to use you as a consultant on all matters regarding Russian.
Thank for your Russian perspective on this film and I love this film because this character Macall is very awesome and most coldest killer I ever seen. I can't wait your reaction on sequel in the future 😊
Can you consider some classic British films that cover war and historical events???
Scott of the Antartic.
The Dam Busters
Lawrence of Arabia
The Battle of Britain.
633 squadron ( fiction)
Genevieve ( comedy)
The Italian Job ( 1968)
Educating Rita
Trainspotting
A Hard Days Night ( 1964)
Also epics like,
Dr Zhivago.
Gone with the wind
El Cid
Vladimir kulich does great in portraying Russian and Slavic individuals
“Man on Fire” - Denzel’s best work! Please add it to your list.
Two things I enjoy in your reactions are how quickly you pick up American slang your not as familiar with and you translating/elaborating on Russian stuff. Another deep dive Russian crime film is Eastern Promises although a bit more realistically darker.
You're
