I learned about the CAGED System very early in my playing and I can say that it unlocked the fretboard and took my soloing to a new level in fact it established the foundations and capability of soloing for me. Great video thank you Mr. Papa!
Great to see a shout out for Keith Scott. One of the most tasteful players of all time in my opinion. Guys like him and Mike Campbell don't get mentioned enough alongside the other greats. I also don't get the embarrassment some people have with saying they like Adams. I grew up on Bryans music and he's one of my absolute favourites. I went to see him and Keith last year and they were phenomenal. Bryans voice is holding up unbelievably well.
i'm self-taught and naturally discovered this early on in my development. seeing chord clusters and triads all over the neck is a game changer and helps play more melodic lines. i don't have naturally dexterous hands and i'll never master it, but this is a GREAT video and help to me. thanks!
I was so nervous about your MacBook getting killed by the head stock tipping the large coffee into the keyboard. (But I powered through for the great content.) Thanks, man!
Thank God for Triads. I just burnt my Pointer finger whilst flipping shish ka bobs on the grill!! For real lol no Bar cords for a few days. Great lesson Papa Thanks.
@@BrettPapa Will do lol. Actually with a double shot mix of Crown peach and Sprite don't really hurt to much anymore!! Seriously though I've been learning guitar from you for 10 + years ! No better teacher and always love your Tone. Big thanks !
Brett you are killing it. That Friedman and guitar sound great but your playing / feel has definitely been raised a notch or two.!! Can you share your ox box settings??
And then there's the notes on the B string, my favorite for starting a solo. It's actually easy to remember the B string notes, because they go in the same order as piano white keys . . . C-1 . . . D-3 . . . E-5, followed by F-6 . . . G-8 . . . A-10 . . . and B-12th fret! That's my mental trick anyway.
So there is a lot of videos about mixing major & minor... but that can only be used over like Dom7 chord vibes (Blues, Country etc). Is that correct? This type of progression is not really for that? Like regular rock type progressions with Major & Minor chords don't seem to work with that. Thanks! That guitar is a beauty!
No depending on the progression you can sneak that stuff in. Check out some of the mixing major and minor videos on the channel or if you want a deep dive I have an entire course breaking it down at brettpapa.com.
I guess the limited time must be up??? I saw a course for $259 ???? But nonetheless you are a good teacher and you do a great job bringing guys like Tom and Guthrie over to your crib just to talk shop and play... Most inspirational...
Yep it's over. However jump on the email list. We have sales frequently. The membership has everything in it plus you will get an extra 25% off the new Guthrie and Tom courses coming out soon! Thanks for watching!
I always played by ear. Im self taught 35yrs now. It has worked fine so far, but I want to go back and learn what it is Ive been doing, why, and how it works, and open up what I can do. I dont regret going the hard way no lessons, hands on, it helped me find my own voice. But. I want to know now.. I learned a lot of what I was doing was relative minor, and using minor and major scale licks as well. But leaning heavy into relative minor. It has worked really well so far. Theres so much to learn. Im shocked how much I always thought I did wrong, but I was doing it right the whole time, and had no idea. Music is never ending… ✌🏻

Sure thing! CAGED is the key for sure.
@@BrettPapa Darn it. I thought I had more time to get the deal. I guess I miss out :(
Exactly what I’ve been working on. Love seeing different peoples views. Great info, thanks!
Thanks for tuning in!

Yep I’m a huge Bryan Adam’s fan. Great tunes great playing. Mike is amazing too. Some of the best guitar parts ever.

I was so nervous about your MacBook getting killed by the head stock tipping the large coffee into the keyboard. (But I powered through for the great content.) Thanks, man!
Lol! Everyone says that. Been doing it for years and never had an incident.
Hey Brett! 1st! Awesome playing and great guitar.
Thanks!
That solo in the intro is so tasteful. Who are Bukovak, Pierce, and Trapp, besides my man Brett
lol! Thanks appreciate that.

Thank ya! 412 Punch cab with a 57 and a 160 and the stereo condenser. Mic levels all to taste.
Thanks for the quick reply. Got the plex and a twin sister in the same week and I am in amp heaven!!
World Most Expensive Lesson! Fantastic lesson, but…. Your tone is sickkkkkk!!! Now I need a Tele with TV Jones pick ups❤❤ Thanks… I think 😂
Yes sir you do! Thanks for watching!
I see a Tele with Filtertrons and, yeah, I wanna hear that guitar!
It's so good!!!!

Good trick! Never even thought of it that way! But it seems like it should be so obvious. I'm gonna steal that trick haha!
Gust of wind, in Texas, that hat...You know the drill.
The intro solo melodies reminded me of “it’s all coming back to me now”
reminded me of "Listen To Your Heart"
@@suedeface yes, I hear the “look into your eyes” line on the beginning
Keith Scott. Very appropriate guitarist.
For sure!
You have a beer by your Laptop or a latte macchiato?
I love your lessons!
Latte. Was up real late haha.
hello Papa, that's a fantastic Tele 😀
Is this a thinline standard? Or a Vintage! I love your Videos🤘🤘
Thanks! It's a custom shop. I forget the name. It's a very strange name haha.
@@BrettPapaWhat pickups are in that Tele?
Now I just need to find a Tele like that one!
They are so good!
@BrettPapa who makes that configuration with filtertrons and semi-hollow?

This is great stuff but I got a little distracted by that fly in your coffee lol
lol they are everywhere right now!
“Idonolian” sir, your work here is done. You can take the rest of the day off. Amazing! 😂😂😂

Ear way doesn’t lie! There are lots of ways to doing it. Some of the very best players I know have no idea what they are doing.
didnt think id hear a reference to Canadian killer Brian Adams
One of my favorites!
@@BrettPapa thanks for the video gave me some idea got for practicing.
nevermind the course - I’ll buy the cap
Haha! A place here in town called Herban Market sells them. You may be able to get one on the website. It’s an awesome hat. Had to have one!
Move it three half steps down and play minor pentatonic? 😅😅
Well something like that haha. People get the concept.
Another good song with vocals on tape ?
Took advantage sale, enjoying the courses.
Awesome! Thanks so much for the support!
Stache or not, still the Papa of the fretboard!
Haha thanks!
Not judging, but you sound a bit drunk sir.
Nope. Not a big drinker.
What a great sounding guitar especially for this style!! Robert Keeley ain't getting that beauty back!! 😂
Thanks! He gave me the guitar yesterday! Wooooohoooooo!
