Hello was wondering about the tool you used in the beginning of the video. Also thank you for teaching about making a Pittsburgh seam. would also love to see more videos about making more seams please.
Is it possible that the part as you show it at 1:33 is just as it leaves the brake at 1:27? To me, it looks like the opening that receives the small angle from the mating piece is not open when the first piece leaves the brake. With the help of this video and other sources, I now know what a Pittsburgh seam is, where it is used and how to make it.
Chris, what device do you have for the Pittsburgh lock that isn’t a brake? I’m working on a vintage camper, and the metal is outrageous to ship. I have two siding brakes but they struggle with really tight bends like these, especially on a long piece, like 12’ long? Any help appreciated
Nice! The only guy on TH-cam who does this correctly. I love watching people who know what they're doing. Well done, sir!
Thanks
Awesome work man... Made it look too easy.
This video came so clutch when my putts machine went down. Thanks.
Hey,
thanks for watching
Glad to help
The only thing I haven’t seen mentioned on these videos is your first bend is out not in, makes a difference on a fitting.
I used to make ductwork for my own shop. you've been doing this for awhile. 👍
Thank you for your time and knowledge. That will help me out.
Great video, clear and concise! Thanks for sharing!
No problem, it was fun
How many people are here because their Pittsburgh machine just broke and you got 3 installs scheduled tomorrow?
I'm doing one install for my home. Not buying a Pittsburgh machine OR a break. Just gonna try this with a hand former and duct folding tool. lol

Matthew Mau that is a scribe. Malco tools makes that exact one
Thank you
You don't need to buy a fancy scribe, you can cut your own out of a scrap of sheet metal.
Duct work artwork.
Thanks for sharing
Very cool!
How did you modify that brake?
Its quick and easy the way you do it. However id like to see it done with a five foot seam
I have done many long seams. Working from the right side of the break, the seam will squeeze down easiest if you get it started on the left first.

It's the same piece, I didn't do anything to modify it .
Could be a different piece ,but it was made the same way
How can I modify that brake?

Good job
Thank you!

Isn’t this snap lock not a Pittsburgh
No, you still have the 1/4" lip to beat over with your hammer.
