I just wish it wasn't an MMO. That style of game does and will fit Dune perfectly, but a single player game where you play as a Fremen would have been awesome. However maybe in this game you get to choose your faction and can go to the different worlds and do stuff. It has insane potential.

Crazy to think Jessica’s refusal to submit to the Bene Gesserit and submit to her husband would be the singular choice to made the prophecy real.
Honestly, I don't trust the story will be good. Adaptations tend to get worse the further away from the source material it is or if the adaptation outpaces the source material. And the whole premise of this, is to change 90% of the source material. Me thinks their fanfic is going to feel weak. But we'll see.
Weak but at least they admit it's outside the timeline. The failing of so many things is to have 'canon fanfics' and trying to pretend like something they did would affect more/less than it would. IE: JJ Abrams Star Trek.
i am honestly scared for that as well. i'm judging largely off of the art, it seemed like a lot of time and work went into the trailer. i absolutely loved the montages to denis villenueve's films combined with the game's own art style established in the previous trailers released. unodos149 you've got a valid point, though at least we haven't seen any signs of overt blasphemy just yet
No kwisatz haderach? That one statement destroys the whole point of this game and the lore of Dune. The Bene Gesserit’s main mission was their 10,000 year breeding program. Paul was supposed to be born “Paula” and marry the Harkonnen, Fayd Rautha. The child that “Paula” and Fayd were to have together was going to be the Kwisatz Haderach. A male version of the Bene Gesserit that can see both male and female ancestral visions. A living god that the sisterhood controlled. The “No kwisatz haderach” statement destroys the whole credibility of this game.😂🎬

I am a rabid novel/canon purists who has read all of Herbert’s books; Dune and all his others novels and short stories, all multiple times over. And I have major problems with Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Part 2. All that is to say: I am still, very, very excited for this game. It seems to me that only this option or making the game a prequel to Dune would have enabled for the player to affect the universe at large in any meaningful ways; without butchering the canon. And this way allows more sense of adventure. And they’ve been completely open about the direction with this trailer. They didn’t just outright change Paul to a female, they’re giving us immersion into one of Paul’s many alternate timelines. I for one, am still terribly excited for this game. Perhaps, even more. So far, it seems to me that the people making this have love and respect for Herbert’s vision. I think the fact they made this story choice actually demonstrates that. I am eagerly awaiting this experience.
The problem with the premise here is that they are mixing up the actions of Leto and Duke Harkonen. Leto makes it clear he isnt looking to exterminate the Fremen. Consistently the Duke is portrayed as honest and a straight shooter. He is not the type that would commit genocide. I dont like that this feels like an assasination of Leto's character even if unintentional. A common recurring theme is that part of the reason the Atreides are so beset with enemies in the first 3 books is because of the atreides code of honor and morality that outs them at a disadvantage against their enemies in the imperium.
Little early to assume Leto killed them. Could have Harkonen, but with Paul narrating, does he somehow still exist? Maybe he'll be a voice in our head.
pretty early to hypothesize anything, but i'll throw my guess out there too. maybe the fremen get exterminated because what happens is an epic drawn-out struggle between the atreides/fremen and the harkonnens/corrinos. no way to guess what they were planning when they wrote that but i feel safe assuming sure plenty of thought went into it
People seem to misunderstand this completely. This is not a gender swap, its what easily could have been based on what we are told in the books. I feel like the people complaining about this non-issue are just salty they didn't get a dune RPG with Paul as the MC.

He said in his vision of himself born as a girl, the fremen are wiped out, he lumped it in with every other vision where atrocities take place. To me he seems to be saying that the vision that leads to us is separate and the only one that gives him hope. No mention of what gender or if he even exists in it.
I hate pandering nonsense and a forced push for more female protagonists as much as the next person, but you seem to know nothing about the franchise you're complaining about. Whoever thought of this game's story is clever, because it's essentially all taking place in Paul's head since it's a vision of an alternate path for the universe.
Have you even read the books? First off Jessica was ordered to produce a girl, but made it sk Paul was male. An alternate timeline where Jessica actually followed the orders of the Bene Gesserit and produced a female offspring isn't that far-fetched or "girl bossy".
This might not be a game made for me but I love that I live in a time where Frank Herbert and Dune are virtually household names
