    Learning so much from your videos, I’ve got a knackered old rover V8 ready to be rebuilt.

    Great video as always , having only ever built one engine from Datsun 120 back in the early 80s 😂.
    I now find my self in my mid 50s and have my son of 23yrs with a few mk1/mk2 Fez and now a mk2 Escort running 2L pinto .
    Your help and guidance with intense rebuilding of engines is like Gold dust to us both.
    Please keep up the good work and videos as it’s simple but very informative,
    5 stars guys from this oldie 👍🏻

    Hi Grayham,
    Interest on the rocker mods although not working on those types anymore.
    Kart engine Jetting.
    45Dcoe working well now, just up choking it from 32-40 for next test. 👍

    Great video, thank you. Love the tech info given regarding the rockers. If i am not mistaken, years back, there was off-set rockers on the market. I do speak under correction. I cannot recall the supplier or manufacturer, but what is your opinion regarding those, and have you used them and if so, did they work. Top Man.👍from S.A

    Really interesting video - I'm looking forward to seeing what it will do. I have a Steve Parker Racing 1700 Xflow (234 cam, 40 DCOEs) in my 7 and its a lovely tractable unit with a great torque spread. 3D ignition (Megajolt) made a big difference to that.

    • @tricksmoke

      Any idea of bhp? I've got a similar setup in my 7 but with just illumination ignition.

    • @bobstark184
      @bobstark184 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tricksmoke 138bhp, 122 ftlb . The headline figures aren’t wildly different from the lumenition setup, but the torque spread and the way it drives are transformed.

    I really can't wait to see what this engine does, it's a very interesting build not all out race but a good usable power unit especially going out to 1900cc. I have read in the past these engines going out to 2.2cc how that is achieved I have no idea, think it was wilcox not sure but I imagine it would be based on the Ali bda block modified? maybe wrong.

      They using probably linered block big 90mm bore, 86mm stroke give 2188cc. flat top pistons, but stroke ratio not good, there is problem this set up, piston friction is too hard and difficult get engine balanced. Other option is using pre crossflow head cos is it chamber type and not need big bowl in pistons.

    Hi great job, in my cilinder head the valve seat is flat now, but the smallest spring is not compressed, my springs come with the kent cams 244 kit with the retainers, maybe I have to buy some valve seat with 2 levels?

    • @PenguinMotors
      @PenguinMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      is the fitted length for the outer spring correct? if the inner spring is not compressed at all i suspect the fitted length is too big and you may need to shim the spring platforms

    Twink piston is 385, not 375 isn't it? Not that it matters. Those 85 mm jobs are gorgeous.

    Hiya bud interesting build this, how come you are not using roller rockers etc in the top end when you've built everything else to a high level? I'll be interested to see what it makes on the dyno and the characteristics of the engine

    • @PenguinMotors
      @PenguinMotors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The client supplied almost all of the parts and so dectated the engines spec, but TBH i dont think roller rockers would really add anything, ive seen enough 160-180bhp x/flows on full race cams and standard rockers to know they are not likely to contribute much, if you ask Steve Curson at Vulcan about them his reply is "waste of time" so im not the only one to think they are not needed

    I have an odd question for you. Are there many differences between the crossflow block and internal components found in RWD Fords and the block that was used in the MK3/4 Escort and the MK1/2 Fiesta?
    I am curious to know if the increase in displacement to 1.9 is possible for the FWD X-flow?
    I haven't seen all the videos, so I don't know if a different taller block was used.
    Cheers!!!

    • @PenguinMotors
      @PenguinMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, early fiesta FWD used different block and head casting, along with crankshaft mk3/4 escort block wasn’t x/f it was the similar but different Valencia engine

      Rods are not but pistons are handed, to match valve orientation, pistons also have offset pins

  • @antmk2dreaming614
    @antmk2dreaming614 ปีที่แล้ว

    are those max speeding rods? have you had much experience with them?

    • @PenguinMotors
      @PenguinMotors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they are, ive had a couple of sets through here, i would say they are ok, if you carefully compare them to UK made steel rods you can see they are not made to the same standard, but they are probably at least on par with old standard rods and cheaper than reclaiming, balancing and fitted uprated bolts to standard rods. so for fast road stuff and and some competition id say they are probably fine. Would i use them in a proper full race engine? the answer to that is NO
