DESCRIPTION
This is a posable, high-grade or better injection-plastic kit of an item from the Gundam universe.
Moon Gundam, as seen in the manga "Mobile Suit Moon Gundam," gets an HG kit release from Bandai! Its distinctive form is fully represented, and its moon-shaped Psycho Plate can be unfurled by unfolding the backpack arm; it can also separate and recombine. The Moon's arms and legs are highly flexible for a range of motion beyond most HG kits, and it's fully armed with its Beam Tomahawk, Beam Rifle, and a display base. Order it now!
[Includes]:
Psycho Plate
Beam Tomahawk
Beam Rifle
Butterfly Edge (x2)
Display base
I think the reason the Moon Gundam is smaller than the Sazabi is because it lacks layers upon layers of armor and Psycoframe.
Sazabi only have psychoframe on cockpit same as standard Zeon tech.Only the unicorn utilizes full frame.
@@ariwardanakusuma2 unicorn gundam series*
But it looks like Narrative gundam has almost full psychoframe also in its equipment
moon gundams head has a psychoframe i think
Conversely, it's just smaller
You can split the moon plates in half and attach 1 half to each arm. In a wing like formation. Those plates are essentially funnels.
If all HGs start looking like this, I'd stop caring for RGs.
RG is RG...but if all HG like this, well im stop buying MG.
Until recently RGs have been a pain in the butt anyway.
Talk about RG,
*Sinanju & Zeta flashback*
@@HeadCannonPrime Not really. Stuff like the Exia and the Astray were awesome.
Jarmo Verriet I agree
The HG Moon Gundam can be described as the RG Sazabi's child from a secret affair.
Lol
Actualy , the moon gundam is More of a parent to sazabi
lore wise, yes, but aesthetically its a sazabi x gundam mega mashup
Or even worse, .........a RETCON!!!!
I guess you can call it Sazabi's Deleted Affair.
Me: I bought it...
My wallet: What did it cost?
Me: ...everything.
Hahaha Infinity War reference!

@@ocelot_the_dragon me @ the three people in this comments section who try to be know it alls about this suit just because they read the manga, but just ended up getting everything wrong
So... We have the Moon Gundam which is the Prototype Sazabi, and at the same time we have the Narrative Gundam who is the Prototype Nu Gundam? It would be nice to have a battle between both
I hope to see it in the Gundam Narrative anime.
@@rapzalsos6237 (Sad face)
@@rapzalsos6237 I'm already watch the anime movies in theather.
I believe the winner will be the RX 9 Narrative, the Moon Gundam will be defeat because in Mobile Suite Gundam Narrative the movie when the RX 9 NT Glow they're Phsyco Frame (the C-Packs) they beat the Sinanju Stein With Mega Neo Zeong 999 easily, so the Moon Gundam is not a match for the RX 9 NT (C-Packs).
@@matthunter9562 depend on the pilot tho
Actually the price isn't as expensive as we expect, because the action base 5 itself is 600 yen, so the gundam alone is about 2400 yen, it's a standart price for an hguc
2400 yen is almost the standard price of real grade , most standard hguc kits cost below 1500 yen, but since this is a 14 runners big kit , the price tag is totally worth it
Shun Zhang yeah no, you do see HGUC kits at 1500 but 2000 is a lot more common. It's why I don't own many UC kits at all.
you guys think we might get a new grade? like HIgher grade, or re144? I think this would qualify as above high grade, altough it sure is no real grade. maybe it will set the bar for all new releases and people in those gunpla beginner guide videos will discourage buying kit earlier than 2018 as their first build? all jokes aside newer kits have benn amazing, I just cant wait to see what is going to make them obsolete
Why complain it's expensive? You're a hobbyist, c'mon.
its not expensive. You want expensive, try taking up a Games Workshop hobby.
Bought this kit after seeing this video & stumbling upon it at my local gundam shop, which I took as a sign. Gotta say it deserves every bit of praise people have been singing about it.
Though I must add; my kit's Psycho plate seems to be loose and its individual parts tend to come apart often. Same goes for the Butterfly Edges. Also a big warning to everyone who likes moving their kits around and checking out the articulation from different angles. D22, the junction piece that connects the legs to the lower torso, is flimsy & easily prone to warping because of how the part was designed. Take extra care when moving the legs around, especially when you're trying to make use of the D22 articulation gimmick.
What do you mean by warping? Does it break off?
In order to have something so good, you have to sacrifice something of the same value...

Speak for yourself
My firstborn child for this gundam kit? Yeah done deal!
That is the law of equivalent exchange
Yeah..agree
The plates in the moon gundam are usually for defensive purpose. But also in the manga, they conjoined them and throw them like a spear ( with the psycommu system activated)
5:02 oh moon really steal, no dignity
Crescent moon? Do you mean Mikazuki *har har har*
Plot twist this Gundam is secretly a tribute to him LOL
Albert Franco Bigger plot twist, the mid season upgrade is called the Sun Gundam and has big hands
har har har :) hu hu hu :( wahhhhhhhhhhhh ToT
I don't get it
@@rebeccaluis1223 mikazuki means crescent moon
This model is absolute gold. Beats almost every HG I’ve seen.
From what I have seen from other reviews of this gumpla, those parts are for angling the psycho pieces so that you could somewhat clock the figure with or use them as sudo wings
Its gunpla
Im surprised how i bought this kit a day before the unboxing vid came out and that it is rated as Gundarium tier. Thanks GameStop
Can we just call the giggity giggity joint the Quagmire joint?
Lol
or the Blackstreet joint. cuz i like the way you work it, no giggity
I've been calling the Moon Gundam an RG lite for a while and I think that holds up pretty well...
the legs and arms have near full inner frames
Imagine rg moon gundam
I won't miss the eye stickers at all, I always paint the eye pieces with glow in the dark paint anyway.
hot damn where do you get those
ariq45 in Jo-Ann’s or Micheals they sell glow in the dark paint
I still need eye stickers. The new sticker bandai put simply shine better in light. Not complaining but well
@@ariq45
You can get green glow in the dark paint basically anywhere that sells spray paint, such as Walmart. Other colors you typically have to look online though. You can also get fluorescent paints or inks that'll just light up in various bright colors under a blacklight.
how long glow in the dark paint last?
The head kind of reminds me of the Gundam Astaroth
That would be because it was designed by Ippei Gyoubu, who also did a lot of suits from IBO and G-Reco.
Right bro
The Head is from the Psycho Gundam Mk IV "Doors" so is the psycho plate
while the body is from the Varguil
Didn’t research much about this. I bought it impulsively when I went to pick up another MG. And I gotta say this is my favorite HG I’ve ever built.
I bought this a while ago, not realizing it was an HG. Then I got a good look at the box and felt disappointed, thinking I’d overpaid.
Then I built it. 😮😁😍
Regret that u just buy it is better than not buying it
I regret not buying it at a decent price.
@kingarcainia2235 hobby lobby is goated
@@brodofraggins4688 Definitely is
Plot twist: All the Gundam Frames in IBO were based on this Mobile Suit when it was [discovered] and it then served as a Template, but the developers could not replicate its Psycho-Technology or Beam Sabers.
(based on the fact that the Mechanical designer for the Moon Gundam is the same guy who worked on the IBO Gundam Frames [Ippei Gyoubu])
Huh, Turn A gundam world reset vision by Amuro Ray.
I'm not agree with that new canon.
And whats with the price complaints? It comes with more stuff than the standard HGUC Nu Gundam and HGUC Sazabi, including the base...and it costs less than either of those older kits. If you think that 23 to 30 USD is expensive then Im not sure how you've bought any other HG kits. Hell, the Delta Kai is almost 40. The HGBF Ez-SR is 28. The HGBF A to Z is 30. The Hyaku Shiki is 25. The MK-II Revive is about 22. The new Blue Destiny Unit 3 is 25. Seriously, the Moon at that price is a steal. Especially considering it comes with a nice, new model base.
I am just getting into Gunpla and picked up an RX78-2 HG along with this HG Moon Gundam from my local Hobby Lobby. I am very pleased to see it is an amazing kit! Glad this kit caught my eye. :)
The moving parts in the psycho plate is for attaching them in different ways. There are pegs that fold out and slots for those pegs. My moon gundam has 2 big shield plates on each arm. Have fun playing with the different way to make the plate.

Crazy that as of 11/30/22, this kit is going for $10.19 at Hobby Lobby.
5:02 I don’t know if it was on purpose but you posed it just like kenshiro’s fighting stance and either way I love this kit even more

I got this for my daughter at hobby lobby for like 15$ cause of there 40% off plastic model sale they do every other week. Was her 3rd build and i was super impressed with the detail, i only do mg so hopefully this accually comes out as a mg and that wasnt just an april fools joke cause i want one

Moon gundam, if not one of my favorites, IS my favorite gundam.
Bandai, PLEEEEASE more of this design.
Can't wait to see how detailed the RG version of this kit
I thought Bandai would never ever made a kit that has no stickers a long time ago, but now i know.
This was my first gundam ever. Got it for Christmas this year.
Enjoy it! Its an excellent HG
I bought the long rifle equipped version of the hg moon gundam and I never have any regrets. A masterpiece highgrade definitely!
alright better start selling both my kidneys!
This is my first Gundam I made made first time getting into Gundam and it's amazing
if anyone is still looking for these, i just got one from Hobby Lobby for $22 dollars on a 40% discount sale. they apparently have them all the time currently, so good luck. got to the store and looked up a review (this video) when i saw it on the shelves.
also found the old HG Leo's, got 1 for like 8 dollars haha
I just got this earlier today. I cant wait to start putting this together
I just picked one up for 40% off and I’m extremely excited to put it together
I am getting some IBO vibe from the plastic used for Moon Gundam.
Holy shit. $35 dollars is considered expensive?? What are people doi kn g with their lives. i paid 31.50 today with a 10 percent off. This will be my third build after i finish my second tomorrow.

@@MechaGaikotsu to be fair it’s a very limited selection, but they do go on sale for 40% off
I've just built my moon gundam, typical hollow feeling gundam but the detail is incredible I can't wait to panel line it.
Not to mention it's bigger than I expected, haven't built the crescent moon or the backpack or weapons, bit I'm halfway through another great build, my Rg Rx-178 aeug though I love, great detail and it's a solid build.
Nice review! That's a sweet looking kit!
I bought the moon Gundam because of this review, and I don’t regret it.
I'm about to press the buy button just after I watch this gunpla review
A note for anyone interested in this kit: the no-polycap build might seem nice, but this thing loosens up way too fast. Even after tightening them, the leg/hip joints on mine are agonizingly loose. It can't stand up, and it can't hold a mid-air pose in the air. It's beautifully molded, but by God, just pick a pose and never touch it again. This isn't a kit for people who like to change their kits' poses around.
The second arm for the plate can be used to have the plates in a wing like orientation, with half of the moon on one arm, and the other half on the other.
I got a copy of this and the feet are very articulated. As they say any kit’s articulation (at times) will depend on the builder. I pretty much did what the instructions said, and maybe that one rocking pegged joint thingamabob is on upside down. I had to disassemble the Moon Gundam’s right foot to confirm it since its left foot was very articulate. You might wanna check it out.
Also yeah the sideskirts can’t really go that far. It’s pretty to look at though. 😝
I found a concept design for a "psycho gundam G doors" which had a full psycho plate moon
in a magazine called "moon gundam mechanical works", so maybe there will be a p-bandai kit of that?
This was my 1st gunpla I put together. I really enjoyed putting it together.
I use to separate in half that plate and use them as a pair of wing, for me its awesome, giving the moon gundam very cool looking :)
That knee armor separation is lit!!
Color me impressed!!! No stickers, accessories, articulation... Well now, I think I'll add this kit to my "Toys to buy" list of mine!!!👍👍👍😎
I was lucky enough to come across this in a mall in Vegas.
You bet I picked this up.
I got the HG Moon Gundam from Hobby Lobby during their sale week a few years ago for a great price.
I've never bought a kit before, but with the complete lack of stickers this is the kit I would start with.
If u want to buy this kit u can buy it at hobby lobby and u can get that 40 percent off so it will be 20 dollars
I know I'm late to the party but, I think the plates extra linking parts are to form swords that attach to the arms.
I straight built this kit and for some reason or another the psycho plate “hinge joints” are rly loose (basically it couldn’t curve inwards without falling over) so i had to do some tightening with super glue. Later on the waist joint was also being too floppy so another dab of super glue and we’re good right? 👎. That day was incredibly hot (and i was also putting my the kit next to the window so sunlight) so the glue inside of the plastic started melting and stuck on the waist joint when i was leaving. Aaaand now it snapped off because it was too damn tight! Tried putting it in the freezer like some other people did but it didn’t work, tried scraping off the glue but i felt that it was gonna destroy the ball joint inside. I’ll just have to live with it i guess. Still, an 8/10 in my book.
I found one for $25 at a local hobby shop. Bought it just because it was cheap, and I ended up loving it so much I bought the P-Bandai clear version
Caught me way off guard w that ‘gigidy gigidy’
Best. Kit. EVVVVVVERRRRRRRRRRRRR
Oh and the little tabs on the psycho plates are for customizing the moon section. You can attach them in different ways, and if you have two of the kit, you can make a full moon, or something like that. That is my guess anyway...
The reason it has 2 antenna in the manga is because the ones in the back are the psycho frame receiver I think.
Just love how gunpla is getting better with age
Just ordered this after watching this video 2 years ago. I'm finally paying the premium for a hg.
I'm gonna wait for the Varguil personally, but it's good to see that the base kit is so good!
Eh I would recommend you just go ahead and get the moon Gundam because the vargil won't be out for a while, and if you support the release, bandai probably will make more kits for Gundam moon
HG 2.0 like it, can see how it is akin to an RG in terms of detail/colours. Very impressive

still watching this in 2021, one of my fave mecha vids,
In singapore the moon gundam is $35 which is considered cheap as even the hgbf gm gm is $34
I just ordered mine yesterday, took me long enough
The best thing about this kit is the eyes aren’t stickers
So like the Full Metal Panic Kits, these are downscaled RE 1/100 just as RGs are downscaled MGs. The Mazinger ones are also very good and don't need any paint nor stickers.
Rgs are hardly downsized mgs dude, and honestly they have much better color separation, and the mazinger kits still have stickers although they're barely present
Getting one soon and planning to give it a sazabi color scheme. Red comet moon gundam
Bought one after seeing this review and love it
on top of that the front v fin is very loose and the crescent can keep itself together - still a great kit though!
That knee armor separation is what i wanted for the Freedom 2.0 and sadly we didnt have.
I wanna see a HG MRX-013-3 Psycho Gundam Mk-IV G-Doors. Its basically where the Physcoplates and Gundam head comes from in the Gundam Moon manga
Luckily My local hobby lobby had 40% off all their models the other day .. so I was able to get this guy for 21 bucks..I was gonna get it regardless tho lol 😂 Id pay ten dollars more for a stand no stickers and superb detail
Same dude. Building right now
What will be it's villain counterpart, the Sun Gundam?
Noice
Nah, the villain atm is either a Theta Gundam or Neo-zeon.
4 years from the future and I bet U alr found out about this but the tabs in the sides of the psycoplate is to connect the psycoplate to form the "javelins" by connecting em four In a row
Will definitely get this after RG Sazabi
Litteraly a full year later we finally got the high grade varguil
Add this to the list of Mobile suits I want a Master Grade of.
This was my first kit I ever built, if it wasn’t I could see myself not being an actual gunpla addict today. I was about 9, and I though “cool space robot toy you build? Yes please!” 12 and starting to paint lol.
