    Hey everyone, this is a remake of the same video from a while back (which I unlisted.) I wasn't happy with the quality of that video and missed a lot. So yes this video might look familiar but a lot of it is new, I hope you guys enjoy. I also want to give a HUGE shoutout to PJiggles who looked over the script and pointed out some smaller details like the soul.
    As a small side note, a lot of the skins are also based off Splat 1 promo images as well.

    inkling in smash honestly feels like they rep splat 1 more than 2 which is strange but makes sense because ultimate started development right before 2 was revealed. do wish we got octolings as echo fighters or dlc somehow though

      It seems Nintendo favors splat 1 as a whole, almost all the splatoon stuff outsude of splatoon but in other games is based around splatoon 1.

      Yeah no, inklings we’re already in development before splatoon 2. So being splatoon 1 based makes sense here, since that’s all they had to work with at the time

    One thing I wish they kept was the whole victory theme that plays after you win, it only plays the jingle instead of the full theme which is a bit of a missed opportunity since characters like Cloud and Joker get to keep their full victory themes.

      Cloud and Joker were both DLC characters (Cloud was added as DLC in Smash 4). Because of the way the development cycle works for these games, DLC characters are definitely given more individual time and attention to their creation. Long standing characters have been tweaked over several games. Thus it's newcomers that were not DLC like Inkling that tend to have the least polish to them.

      Personally I also think what we did get for the victory theme was horribly butchered compared to the original. I hate the blaring horns that make the whole thing sound like a discordant cacophony when they could've just imported the actual victory theme, maybe give it a slight backing track, and called it good. Instead we get "Big Band goes to die"

      Speaking about the victory screen, the inklings clapping when they lose is *so* out-of-character for them. They should be definitely be sulking, like they do in Splatoon.

    If you look at the first gameplay revealed for Inkling, all ink attacks would spread ink, but in the final game only the roller kept this feature. My guess is that this feature would either lag or break 8-Player Smash on select stages, so the developers scrapped the idea.

    It's still odd to me that Inklings don't change ink color based on their team when the default colors they picked all correlate to the color of each player slot in verses matches

    I feel like base Ultimate's newcomers generally could've been given a bit more love, but I could see why they didn't, as they were bringing every character back, and that was really the main focus of this game until the DLC dropped. I mean, look at Ridley as well! I never played a Metroid game before, but from what I've seen, Smash's adaptation could've been a LOT better. Personally, I'm just glad that we have what we have and Inkling didn't become another Sonic in Smash situation

      as someone who has played every Metroid game, Ridley isn’t perfect but i truly think they adapted Ridley really well into smash. i do really think the newcomers got a lot of love in ultimate, i feel like there’s always going to be some liberties taken for every character, so they can be balanced and so that the team can not overwork themselves

      @@GravityBouncer I’m saying that I’d love it if they got the same, or even, remotely close to the DLC characters. Incineroar has so much personality, and so does K Rool. But imo those are the outliers. They honestly feel like base Sm4sh characters

    For my balance mod for Ult, I originally tried to rework Inkling to implement a lot of the changes you had in mind:
    - Neutral B was still Splattershot, but it spread ink on the ground and stopping and starting shots took less time, but in exchange I think I gave it less range. This change was never really finished since the game's "spread ink" code is still somewhat of a mystery to me and I had to settle for creating ink particle effects on the ground
    - Inklings wouldn't go into squid form when dashing normally, and they'd have a worse hurtbox. However, when dashing while in ink you went into squid form and were faster (run still went into squid form no matter what).
    - Your ink recovery was slightly slower normally, but it was doubled while in ink
    - Inked opponents would move up to a maximum of 10% slower than usual on the ground, but afaik not in the air. In exchange, they didn't take more damage.
    I didn't continue the project, but the state Inkling was left in struggled to kill, so my next plans were going to be changing Bair to use Blaster (the hitbox wouldn't be that much better than it is run since the move is already ridiculously disjointed) along with Dair, possibly changing the other weapons to also spread ink, etc.
    All of this was before we were able to add files so at that time I wasn't considering new weapons, but if I were to revisit the project now I would probably swap out Ink Brush for Octobrush but keep Ink Brush as a dash attack. Not sure where I would put chargers given that Neutral B already got reworked, but maybe I would've replaced ground Side B with charger while leaving air Side B as-is (since I already removed the bury and made that move more of a combo tool).

    After playing Octo Expansion, it really made me wish we would have gotten Octolings as a bonus echo fighter or something. Was also hoping they would have had more of the missing weaponry like Dualies and Chargers. Oh well, maybe for the next game.

    I like what they did for victory poses. They sorta mashed up Splatoon 1 and 2's together. Even their victory theme is a remix of the S1 victory jingle as well

    I feel like Inkling could benefit a lot if they bring back custom moves in a future Smash game. That way they could include more weapons without cluttering the basic moveset so that every move is them pulling out a different prop. Just for some examples, you could have a charger as an alternate neutral special or the disruptor as an alternate down special.

    Missed opportunities I could think of:
    - Have them turn into squid form when crawling
    - Have one of their taunts be squidbagging or at least have one of their taunts have them do something in squid form (I know squidbagging was made by the fans, I just thought it’d be funny. And plus, it’d be a similar case to Steve with some of his taunts)
    - Have Calamari Inkantation turn the stage into Splatfest mode (I just think it would fit the look more and that song plays in the trailer for Splatfests)

    Same as with Samus and morph ball, I'm disappointed that Inkling doesn't get squid form as the crouch and crawl.
    They could've even given it a gimmick where you crawl faster on your ink, and replaced the dash with the inkbrush run, with maybe even a small no-knockback hitbox if you run into something

      My only problem with this is that the low-profiling would be ridonkculous. Sure, Game & Watch can crouch under some projectiles but, if Inkling could duck completely into the floor, you could avoid every non-gravity affected projectile in the game without sacrificing some your shield and then be able to immediately counterattack.

      I feel like that isn't really the case in Splatoon either, like you seem to have a somewhat elevated hitbox when swimming, otherwise you'd be super difficult to snipe.

      @@samufinland5765 in splatoon yeah, hiding in ink doesn't really lower your height all that much and you can easily be shot at still. But in smash that's not the case, you can actually already low-profile a ton of projectiles by just dashing through them. It's a lot harder since you have to time it properly, but it's pretty good and I could see it being silly if crouch and crawl did the same

    I always thought the jab and forward tilt should have been the splattershot similar to Mega man, with the neutral special being the charger instead.
    I also always imagined and Octoling echo fighter being more of a "heavy" version of the Inkling, opting to use weapons like the .52 gal, Dynamo Roller, and suction bombs.

    Some small detail on inkling's final smash, besides the multicolor aura, inkling's have like a special glow going on their head, just like in every splatoon game when you have the special ready

    Generally looking forward to how Inkling would play in future Smash titles. I’m also pretty sure Octoling will be included too as a sort of Olimar/Alf situation.

      Best case scenario octoling becomes an entirely different character than Inkling. It keeps the old moveset, for the people who like it, meanwhile adding new weapons and subweapons through octoling.
      Midcase they become a skin for Inkling
      Worstcase they become an echo fighter with no difference whatsoever

    there’s one more main aspect i’d like to see added to inkling that i didn’t see you touch on, and that’s giving them more stage control aspects
    inking turf is the main thing that makes splatoon so unique, even though turf war isn’t played competitively, it’s the main mode people are familiar with, and i would’ve liked to see more emphasis on controlling the space around the opponent. if they go this route in smash 6, i hope splat bomb in particular gets overhauled to work closer to how it does in splatoon, especially since that would represent how it’s used competitively too.
    i agree with the majority of points you made in this video, as an inkling main and splatoon player myself, though i’m personally not too bothered by the lack of weapon representation. weapon types could definitely be improved, like making neutral special a charger, and making the dodge animation closer to the dualies, but in terms of different weapons of the same type, i think it would be interesting if they were incorporated into octoling as an echo fighter. as octoling tech is generally seen as better than inkling tech, i think it would be cool if they represented more unique weapons. like for down smash, instead of being a quick attack with the slosher, it would be a slower attack with the explosher, but it kills better and has more range to combat the slowness, or side special could be the dynamo roller, a lot slower, but has an initial swing which kills much earlier, or even down special could be a different sub weapon, there’s a lot of potential ideas for an octoling echo fighter, and i think taking inspiration from different weapons is a good starting point.

    I am personally surprised that you didn’t mention how Inkling cannot jump or move right and left when using the Splattershot in their neutral special. As you stated movement is incredibly important to Splatoon and should be emphasized for Inkling’s move set. Personally I think they should be able to move when using it and having the ink shot from it being both very weak (around 0.5 to 1 percent per ink blob shot put at most) and have no hitstun to prevent it from being completely overpowered. With the emphasis on the ink gimmick (they could also be able to ink and swim up walls; to compensate they can’t climb up inked walls when already in the air and Inkling needs to bump into the wall, as in dashing into the wall, in order to climb to begin with) the Splattershot could be used to focus on inking the stages first and foremost with their normal attacks being “get off of me tools” and the Splat Roller being more like what you suggested.
    I completely agree about your qualms about Inkling not being an incredibly light but hard hitting character asking with the strange changes to the Ink Brush and Splat Bomb. Inkling in my eyes fits much better as a character that needs to set up, set traps and get out of the way of bad situations and thus should be punished hard for bad decision making just like in the Splatoon series.

      Granted, because of the fact that Inklings were developed after Corrin and Bayonetta was released, it was still Splatoon 1 era. That's the primary reason why they don't have more weapons.

    I’ve hoped for a long time that eventually Nintendo would add some way to coordinate Smash alts and games you have on your Switch (i.e. your Inkling/Octoling’s outfit, your outfit in Mario Odyssey)

    One note: Inkling has a fairly high kill % to balance out the fact that they deal absolutely RIDICULOUS damage on every short string they do because of ink

    I think one of The biggest missed potential that inkling had was the overall lack of specials. I think if inkling does return for another smash game if there is one. Something like inkstorm or tacticooler would be nice additions.

    My main complaint is the utterly ghastly lack of Salmon Run content. Only one song, and absolutely no spirits whatsoever. Ghastly. Salmonid for Smash or else.

    Bomb Rush Blush was done by Tomoya Ohtani (the lead sonic composer) so it was destined to be great. Looking at his Twitter is pretty funny, he basically just talks about composing for sonic and playing splatoon

    Bro Imagine Inkling with Byleth Down air but using a vertical Roller. That would be pretty sick, but it wouldn’t make sense with the quickness of inkling’s other moves.

    There was something you missed, although obscure because of how smash is made, there are much more songs! One of them is acid hues, and when you play it the stage goes splatfest mode!
    Another thing is that when you get a kill, depending on what player you are (P1 P2 P3 ect) jud and lil jud will jump up and throw out your color flag. (only works when you start on 3 stocks, then once both people are on 2 stocks it will work.) Also if a game is tight and both people have killed eachother twice, they will put out both flags!

    Idk if this was in Splatoon 1 or 2, but when playing online in Splat3, the victory emotes for some weapons are actually just Down Tilt and Neutral Air. Might be a case of Smash influencing a Series, or Smash being very faithful, either way, very dope.

    One interesting idea could be that in a potential future Smash game could be this kit turning into Agent 3 as another Splat rep, and the “new” inkling/octoling could have a revamped kit more weapon-focused. Would be cool to see!

    If anything, the missing weapon types leaves the door open for Octoling in the next Smash game. That said, you can kinda feel that Sakurai was more obligated to include Inkling (& Isabelle) rather than it being a true labor of love like with many of the DLC characters. Not that Sakurai hates Splatoon or anything, but it didn't feel like it was a top priority to nail them.

    Yeah, they felt fine to me as well. Not one of the characters I feel really needs a rework to make actually feel like their game (Hi Ganondorf. No, actually getting to use your swords in your smash attacks isn't enough to make you not feel like the Captain Falcon clone you started life as in Melee to me), but also not one of the characters who feels like a perfect translation. They fit my Smash playstyle well enough so I'm ok with them.
    For a second Splatoon character - Let's say Octoling and keep the stats identical but change up a bunch of the attacks - Do you make the Brella an aesthetic for the shield similar to how Yoshi has that egg aesthetic (but, presumably, actually working like every other shield in Smash unlike Yoshi's egg) or do you make it a counter and/or reflecter with a shotgun blast attached as the Down B?

    Ehhh, I just, don't feel like inkling needed to be one of those characters that pulls out every single thing from their game to fit all their attacks, honestly if they just put in charger I'd be completely satisfied with the moveset otherwise

    Yeah, I always had a problem with the lack of versatility. I think the skins should have had used like actual characters and focused on their weapon preference while slightly altering their kits for the skin. A Marina skin could use a Brella for slow fire but high damage and slightly heavier character, a Marie skin could have focused on the use of the Charger for a light, ranged, and high damage character, etc... Would have had more variety for people's preferences while also still being able to be memorized instead of having near infinite combos like picking and choosing and the complexity of just using more variety within the og kit.

    I think they chose not to go in depth as they could have with Inkling because for a casual, they're already among the more complex fighters in the game, with having to refill your ink and optimal movement and whatnot, though this is definitely where an Octoling fighter would've helped. An Octoling could have also included more things from Splatoon 2, seeing as Ultimate's dev time mostly happened while Splat 1 was the current game an echo fighter could've at least showcased some more stuff from Splatoon 2.

    While I agree with a lot of your points about missed opportunities, I think that the way things were done was far more in line with how smash works. When you talk about all the weapons that other attacks could have used I think Link is a good point of comparison. His kit is likewise only using a small number of iconic items, namely bow, bomb, boomerang, and hookshot. While sword fighting is obviously part of his games as well plenty of his moves don't map to anything from the games and just exist to fill out a fighting game character. The devs obviously don't want to make characters too complex and including too many different weapons does that. That's a lot more modeling that needs to be done for the character and most smash fighters have a bunch of melee moves even if this doesn't make as much sense for their origins.
    The same holds true for a lot of the more minor details you discuss to make the weapons more accurate. They add unnecessary complication to the character. You bring up Steve a few times but remember that Inkling wasn't a DLC character. The DLC characters in ultimate got stranger and stranger mechanics wise and many Smash fans think they went too far from the norm with many of them. There is a clear difference in design principles used for characters throughout the franchise and even between characters within just this game thanks to the time between the main roster being made and the DLC characters being added. They definitely put a lot more emphasis on being accurate to the character than they did in the past, just look at Gannondorf who's entire move set was just slightly modified Captain Falcon for no real reason.

      The link comparison is fair but to me the diffrence is link has certain weapons that are more iconic, while inklings are known for an insane variety of choices, so I think its more tied to their identity here. I def think Ganon is jus straight up not ok in his current state.

      @@ProChara It is a shooter... they only need 2-3 guns and you cover most at base. Most choices anyways are a weapon, sub, and special combo you don't get to choose.
      Most of the choices come from slots for small boosts.

      @@Buglin_Burger7878 Splatoon has 11 weapon classes in the game. even in the campaign, in S2 u get 9 weapons, and 2 dlc and 3 has over 40 weapons to pick, if that doesn't show the importance of variety, idk what will. Even Splatoon 1 only had 7 weapon classes, 2 of which are lacking even a single rep (charger/splatling)

    I agree that the neutral special could have been a sniper and that there should be a variety of bombs for the down B, being a sort of weaker glass cannon,and the splatbrush being a multi hit forward smash is a great idea,with you mashing the button to do maximum damage. The low kill power makes sense, since an average opponent won’t be hurt that badly by being hit by a large paintbrush or had ink shot at them.

    i personally think that the other things you said were weird (such as the normal attacks) fit the inkling in smash. in splatoon, they use weapons and don't have physical punches or other attacks, because ranked modes and turf wars are sports in universe, while in smash it's a fight to the death. it makes sense that they would use different attacks.

    There isn't really any telling when they were working on Inkling in Ult. Being the first game came out in 2015 it makes sense there was no S2 related stuff besides music. I feel there was lots of missed opportunities like Agent 3 color not getting the Hero Shot and there really should had been a Charger for Neutral B cause Splattershot was basically just nearly the same as Jab. The FSmash Change would had been cool I'm not gonna lie. Hopefully in the next Smash this stuff will be corrected. Espcially if they add a Octoling Echo Fighter or something.

    Honestly a small detail I would have loved is maybe grim range style got well, the grim range blaster as it's up smash instead of what looks to be a regular range blaster.
    And I'd have to agree w how much weapon diversity and such splatoon has it is so much lost potential compared to what's in the game (especially octolings not being added as an echo fighter w the octo weapons from octo expansion/hero mode of s2) but hey I'm just glad they're in the game.

    You know I feel like down special should've been burst bomb and splat bomb
    Like when you hold the down b then you get splat bombs but if you just press down b then you get burst bomb
    So splat bombs would be super powerful does huge shield damage but it takes awhile to set off so they have time to shield or run also takes more ink
    While burst bomb instantly set off and doesn't take a lot of ink but it's very weak and it's shield damage sucks
    (One best for on stage and the other is best for off stage)

    Inkling in Smash is team player that truly shines in 2vs2 format. Lowering defence with inking your opponent benefits both members of a pair and you can cover the lack of kill power with another player.

    i think, considering the limitations of smash, this was one of the best movesets we could have gotten. Going too overboard on the weapon variety would only confuse those outside the splatoon community and lead to a potential assumption that players get an entire armory worth of weapons in every match, and the kicks emphasize the effort of the match. Yes, you get a weapon, but you are not a one-man army (outside of splat 1 specials). You need to know the limitations of your weapon just as much as its strengths. All of the main weapon categories (from 1) are covered except for chargers and splatlings, but both would be much harder to fit into the moveset in a balanced way. A faithful charger has too much range for the rest of the kit which focuses on close range, not to mention start and end lag or the trail of ink left behind, and a faithful splatling provides too much pressure. Both could be implemented, but it comes at the cost of reworking the final smash into a weapon showcase instead of using the killer wail special. Said rework would also come with the same "one man army" assumption problem, if not overhyping certain weapon classes over others.

    As a competitive Smash player, trust me, Inkling doesn’t need much else to be a monster, on the stage. A few move changes might’ve made them more faithful, but they certainly don’t struggle to kill, especially for Inkling mains who know how to use their kill confirms
    Also, while I agree that Splattershot and Inkling’s rapid jab have a lot in common, there’s one thing that Splattershot does far better than the rapid jab: shield pressure. By just holding down the B button, Inkling can lock their opponent in their shield from a safe distance away, which can lead to shield breaks, which should not be ignored

    6:01 they were probably thinking about Stamina Battles, and yet they never balanced the game around them so it doesn't matter for competitive. Casually, yes, Inklings can be though of as perfect but competitive-wise? There's more they could've done, and they did so with characters like Hero, Banjo and Kazooie, Sora, Sephiroth and Joker.

    The one complaint I would have for Inkling is that the ink tank doesn’t auto refill like in the games. If the player runs out of ink in smash, then they would be vulnerable in terms of refilling manually or standing idling by. In the games. When inkling runs out of ink. The ink tank slowly generates ink for you so even in the middle of battle. It’s like the move “struggle” in Pokémon but at least your giving your opponent damage and you have a chance of survival. This is why I will always and forever be a Greninja Main. There’s no limits for a Frog Ninja Pokémon.

    I've always hated how inconsistent Splat Bomb works in Smash. Sometimes it bounces off people, sometimes it explodes on contact; sometimes it sends in, sometimes it sends out. It's really frustrating coming from a tournament-goer
    Also I love how Nintendo choose to give Splatoon a stage fit for 8-player Smash since, y'know

    I always thought it could be cool to have inkling use more shorter ranged weapons while a potential octoling could use long ranged weapons.
    Since there are both long and short versions of the same weapon class you can show the difference without having to add new weapons or tech to smash. Have a dynamo roller vs a carbon roller, a range blaster vs a clash blaster etc…

    I know nobody asked, but here's what I would've changed Inkling.
    First is the ink mechanic. I know it would've been difficult to implement, but I seriously think that they should've had Inkling's movement speed be significantly increased while in ink. Seeing them move in solid ground like it's ink is pretty cursed to me. So weapons that use ink will cover the ground in ink which allows Inkling to move as fast as they already do, while running on solid ground is just a little faster than walking. (While we're at it, grounded ink won't have an effect on opponents, to make Inkling more fun to play against. Best I can think of is just letting it do small chip damage like it does in Splatoon.)
    The ink would be on a timer though, so it doesn't just stay on the ground for the whole game. The way I'd make this work is the time that the ink stays out depends on the thickness of the ink (how much the ink reaches into the foreground/background). If you coat an already inked spot in more ink, it'll cover more of the 3d space and extend the lifetime of that ink. The ink will also deplete faster if Inkling doesn't land any hits for a while.
    I'd also change the Inkbrush to be their jab instead, make it like Villager's jab from Smash 4. Also if you hold the A button, you can put the brush on the ground and slide along the ground, and you can play bumper cars with your opponent of course.
    Forward smash will be the Charger instead. This just feels like an obvious pick to me, given that the Charger is the trademark one-shot weapon in Splatoon. The more you charge the attack, the longer the shot reaches, and you can aim up or down too, much like how some characters can tilt their smash attacks.
    I would've loved to see Inkling fling the Splat Roller vertically like in Splatoon 2/3 when they're in midair. Their recovery is already really good so I don't see why not give them this option at the expense of horizontal recovery.

    One thing I'd change is using side-B in the air should have Inkling flick the roller doing big damage and knockback with a pretty big hitbox along with heavily coating your opponent in ink as one of Inkling's biggest weaknesses in Smash Ultimate is getting KO's due to most of their attacks being kinda weak

    while the video isnt saying this, but many people want that the ink can stay much longer, but I think it would constraint the processing unit in this case because of how complex it is, especially if two inkling fights, then the ram would need to remember so many detail in just one battle. I agree with prochara that the only miss opportunity is how the fight style isnt referencing how we fight in splatoon, unlike so many character in smash

    I can see why the Inklings only use basic weapons, as it helps keep their moveset more understandable. Splatoon simply has too great of a weapon variety to make it easily understandable.
    One thing I will say though is whenever (if ever) the next smash bros game comes out, I can totally see Octolings making it in as an Echo fighter, likely using newer and different weapons like the Dualies, Brellas, Charger, and Splatana, maybe a splatling idk, and likely Torpedo and Reefslider or splashdown if we want some Special representation. I mean this is a fighting game, and one of the simpler ones at that. One can't have everything.

    If Nintendo did make an Octoling character for smash 6 (pls do that Nintendo), heres what I would want the moveset to be:
    Jab: Same as current one but it has Octo Shot. This asthetic change will replace every existing splattershot move.
    Forward Tilt: A single slice forward with the Splatana Wiper. A little ink beam will be shot forward, not nearly as much as the one in Splatoon 3 though.
    Up Tilt: A single swing upwards with the Inkbrush.
    Down Tilt: Downwards swing with the Inkbrush.
    Dash Attack: Same as the current one.
    Forward Smash: Same as current one but uses a Splatana Stamper instead. Just an aesthetic except for the fact that it can actually kill people now and is a bit slower because I hate Inklings current Forward Smash.
    Up Smash: Fires a Rapid Blaster Pro upwards. The shot is slightly smaller, has the gimmick you were talking about with the regular blaster and goes much higher. It would be much harder to use in close range but would be very good to hit those far above you.
    Down Smash: Octoling faces forward and activates a Tenta Brella Shield. This move is very slow but is very strong (rivals Pyra's forward smash) and allows you to defend up to 5 hits or 1 Meteor Smash attack. If shield breaks, then you get stunned for 3 seconds. A very risk reward move.
    Forward Air: A very fast carbon roller vertical flick. Isn't the strongest but there is a very tight window where you can Meteor Smash them.
    Up Air: Same as up tilt but slightly faster and slightly weaker.
    Down Air: Same as the current one but it's with a Clash Blaster instead. The Meteor Smash is also nearer to the end of the move with a downwards clash blast shot. Only the direct activates the Meteor Smash.
    Back Air: Backward Tri-Stringer shot.
    Grab: Zipcaster onto an enemy to start a grab.
    Grab Jab: Same as current one.
    Teather: Zipcaster onto a ledge using the grab button.
    Forward Throw: Lightly throws the opponent forward and then kicks a torpedo bomb at them. The little explosions at the end in the Splatoon games are there for aesthetics but don't do any damage.
    Up Throw: Lightly throws them upwards and then chucks a Burst Bomb at them.
    Down Throw: Throw's enemy on the ground and then an Inkmine explodes, sending them upwards.
    Back Throw: Lightly throws them backwards and then chucks a Fizzy Bomb at them.
    Neutral Special: Same as the current one but with Dapple Dualies instead. Much shorter range but has the ability to do 2 very quick dodge rolls which do deal damage.
    Side Special: Same as the current one. (The smash community would hate a Roller buff.)
    Up Special: Slowly rise in an inkjet before exploding the inkjet and getting shot high up in the air. The ink the comes from the inkjet could pull enemies up it so that they get hit by the explosion. The explosion is very strong. One last thing, instead of staying in human form like in the regular games after the Inkjet ejects you, you instead turn into the Octopus form as if you were super jumping.
    Down Special: The same as the current one except with a suction bomb. No longer does it explode in the air unless it touches an enemy, however it now has a really fast explode time when it touches any surface. A little faster to get to full charge and won't roll on the ground anymore, instead being able to stick to walls and surfaces. Use's much more ink though.
    Final Smash: Super Jumps to the top of the screen onto the floating spawn pad from Splatoon 3 multiplayer. The octoling proceeds to pull out a Tri-Zooka is able to shoot 3 shots that each deal 80 damage and can easily kill people. However, they are quite hard to land due to their size. The fire rate of this Tri-Zooka is also a bit faster.
    For the costumes we have:
    Costume 1: Agent 8 outfit (Girl Hair 1 from Splatoon 2)
    Costume 2: Broken Agent 3 outfit from Splatoon 3 (Boy Hair 1 Splatoon 2)
    Costume 3: Hydra Splatling Outfit from Splatoon 3 reveal Trailer and Promotional Material.
    Costume 4: Range Blaster Outfit in Promotional Material and Splat 3 Reveal.
    Costume 5: Marina Amiibo Outfit (Girl Hair 2 Splatoon 2)
    Costume 6: Team Octopus Splatfest Tee (Boy Hair 2 Splatoon 2)
    Costume 7: Fresh Fish Amiibo Outift
    Costume 8: Sanitized Ocotling
    Stage:
    Museum D'Alfonsino (I could do one based of Splatoon 3/Splatoon 2 locations but this one seems much cooler.)
    Everything in the middle of the map is flooded except for the middle rotating platform. Every 20 seconds, it will rotate 90 degrees. This will make the platform smaller although 2 much smaller platforms will spawn on each side of mid when the platform is small. When the platform is big, an inkling/octoling in a random outfit will throw Tri-Strikes onto the middle of the map if people have been there on the ground for a total of 3 seconds. The Tri-Strike launches people upwards and deals up to 40 damage. Hazards off stops the rotating and removes the Tri-Strike.
    Spinal Phase
    Same platform as the one in the Mega Man stage except the background is themed on the spinal phase from Splatoon 2. Sanitized Agent 3 will ride on the UFO from that fight and fire sting rays across the stage as a stage hazard. On the final stock/one minute remaining on the timer, the elevator will get ink jet thrusters and fly out of the Spinal Phase area into the final boss area of the NHLS Statue. Agent 3 will still fire at you but the final fight will be in the background. In the last 20 seconds of a match/both players on last stock Pearl will fire her Killer Whale. When the match ends, the NHLS Statue gets destroyed by Pearls Killer Whale. If a Splatfest Song is being played, in the last minute/last stock, the stage will instead circle around the MC. Princess Stories stage as a reference to the final fest.
    The splatfest song thing that moray towers had would also stay.

    An Agent 3 is fighting a squirtle and greninja on a white platform with the rest being very dark. As agent 3 is about to die due to a Water Gun attack from squirtle and a Water Shuriken attack from Greninja, a suction bomb gets thrown between agent 3 and the water attacks and protects agent 3 from the water attacks. Both sides of the fight proceed to look up at the direction of where the bomb was thrown. They see a octoling shaped shadow and a flying spawn pad shaped shadow. The octoling clicks a button on their CQ Phone thing and all the lights turn on. The splash screen then pops up saying "Octoling Splats the Cast" (because you cast a fishing rod and cast is also smash roster. ok, it was a pretty bad pun.)
    Gameplay then proceeds (Music: Najesty Majesty - Smash Remix)
    Later on in the trailer after some gameplay, Agent 3 and Octoling successfully knockdown squirtle and greninja but then an electro ball comes from behind and splats agent 3. Agent 8 looks behind them and sees an Army of Pikachu and Pichu. She then stumbles back but pulls out a tri-zooka and shoots them all down (with the shots being shown in the CGI but then the actual hits being in gameplay.)
    Smash X Splatoon screen Appears.
    (A more slower and distorted version of the Thang Jingle Theme plays)
    Finally, we then have a close up shot of the Octoling out of breath on the NHLS statue and then a text box with Marina saying, "Don't give, Eight! Smash is waiting for you!" The screen then shows a glitchy effect with a very faint image of Museum and then fades to black.

    I got to agree, they could have used the Inkbrush and the roller for of his Melee attacks, that could have given the inkling a bit of range in his moves and it would respect the gameplay of Inkling because we never see them use their hands of feet to engage in a physical fight. The Blaster maybe could have been better for the forward smash and for grenades, well, everyone might know better the ink bomb, but following what Sakurai tried doing, I feel like the Burst Bomb could have been a better option. Other than that, I don't now what else to add. Maybe the lack of knockback could be dew to the fact that we are fighting organisms who's body's aren't entirely liquid, but I could agree that the weapons may still hurt an average human being.

    A way to incorporate dualies and brellas would be to have Inklings shield be the Splat brella and the dodge rolls are, well the dualies dodge rolls. Add it that if you hold neutral B after a roll, you shoot using the dualies until you let go of neutral B or move in anyway.

    Been playing a lot of Splatoon 3 the last couple of weeks and some of the decisions are really baffling. Inkbrush could've been a perfect rapid jab with the option to slide across the ground like in the original game. They could keep the ink gauge but also make it so that you can ink actual territory instead of opponents so you can have more mobility and terrain control while keeping the ink recharge. Bombs could be altered in the way you say in the video. And while this is more unconventional and way beyond the scope of Ult due to it repping 1 they could have had Splashdown be a Down Smash but altered to use Ink and not do the jump so like Wario's SSF2 down smash

    I love the bomb rush remix, but it also makes me so sad that Tide gous didn't get its own remix.... Who on earth represents only half of a duo?

      Let me explain. Even though Tidal Rush exists, the deal with the music in Ultimate was to lessen the types of songs that were less energetic (for example, The Roost from Animal Crossing). I'm guessing the reason why TGO isn't is was because of how slow, soft, and low-key it is.

    I feel like all of this just shows how great of a semi-echo fighter Octoling could be in the next Smash game. Think about it, you could use Dualies instead of a Splattershot and you can roll directly out of it, instead of Roller side-B you could have a charger (or maybe a Stringer for that solid Splat 3 tie in), you can swap out down-B for a different bomb like Burst or Suction that would make more sense on when they detonate than Splat Bombs do in Ultimate (or just be Snake and add Ink Mine), and even just for more standard moves you could maybe swap Inkbrush out for a Splatana if you want more Splat 3 OR you could theoretically do a Dynamo swing with its ridiculous range (or just do the comparatively lame move and just make it Octobrush), switch Slosher for something else that I can't think of right now, and of course you can switch out Killer Wail for a new Special, maybe something like Reefslider, if you're really annoying you could do Tenta Missiles, or maybe we could even pull a Splat 2 move and straight up give out a Rainmaker or something similar. That's almost a completely new kit with stuff to replace nearly every move that uses ink and each move has a major difference compared to Inkling while still being uniquely Splatoon. Inkling is a pretty solid character in terms of what parts of Splatoon they represent, but there's just so much left that isn't in Smash at all that another Splatoon character would be great.

    I've always felt the Inklings dying so quickly in Splatoon was more due to their physical weakness rather than their weapons' strength. Their guns are primarily shooting liquid and not very far at that, they really don't seem particularly strong. I think it'd be weird for them to be super powerful in Smash from that perspective, though I suppose the basic feel of them being very fast-paced would work, so I guess it depends on whether you're going for feel or logic more.
    There are certainly more weapons they could use, but I'm pretty happy with the amount of weapons they do have honestly. With how quick most of their attacks are it feels like it might be weird for them to pull out weapons for every attack, not to mention being a walking arsenal isn't really something that's part of Splatoon since in those games you have 1 weapon with no way to swap during a match. It's not like, say, Mega Man where having a bunch of weapons you swap to on the fly is a core mechanic.
    If anything the one thing I would have liked to see was maybe down special having multiple bombs to choose from. We got a good number of normal weapons but only 1 sub, and to me that's what lacks more. Let you choose between Splat Bombs, Suction Bombs, and Burst Bomb perhaps.
