  • "You only get an 'OO' with TYPHOO"
Here is a perfect 'blend' of lifts from the long-time derelict Typhoo Tea factory.
See link at bottom for MRPHILL100's video.
PART TWO IS HERE (motor rooms):
    • Derelict TYPHOO tea fa...
    ABANDONED BUILDING STORY
There were other people in here, some were teenagers, some were taking the remains of whatever electrical cable they could find. The guys taking the wiring were not pleasant, but with all these environments you just hope that people are there to 'do their thing' and leave.
The fact is, even I do not enjoy places like this. I've seen stories where other explorers have gone on a rampage smashing windows and starting fires, then they leg it when the police arrive leaving people that were only taking pictures to take the blame.
Other stories tell of people that have been trapped inside a building when the entrance point was closed or sealed by others on purpose when they left, because they thought it was clever... Yes, explorers trapping other explorers in a building.
There was an old hotel where they knocked out the ground and first floors to try and stop people getting in the tower block. People still entered, but one guy FELL TO HIS DEATH trying to get out afterwards by using a rope which presumably came detached. This wasn't that long ago.
Some of the external walkways featured in this building I would never walk on, injury or even death is a real risk here and you really have to watch what you're walking towards. I've seen lots of instances where the floor would have given way if stepped on, due to years of decay.
There is a car park in Bracknell with a trap-door in the motor room that's covered by about 2cm of pigeon poo, invisible, unless you noticed it when climbing up a separate ladder (which was not attached at the top!). No doubt about it, a fall of about 10 metres onto concrete - you're dead.
With all this in mind, don't copy - STAY OUT OF ABANDONED BUILDINGS. When things go wrong, they can go very wrong.

Obviously, I liked it already. Whenever a mrmattandmrchay video comes out, you know its going to be good.

These are the vids I love !!!. Mix of urban exploring with lifts. Always is sad to see plants and factories trashed. This place most have been full of life and activity long ago.

Is it me or do lift shafts in old factories often have windows in them? I’ve noticed this with other old factories as well eventhough having a window in the shaft is not much benifit if the cab is completely enclosed with walls.

In Singapore they would never allow it though. If a building is abandoned they would have to demolish it. Presumably due to safety reasons and limited land supply in Singapore.

I'm watching elevators videos again to distract myself from the fact there's a paper on my building's front door saying they're going to modernize my weird elevator. That means i won't get to hear the motor noise, nor the sound of the compensation chain or any of the clanging and banging noise this creepy old boi makes anymore. And they're doing it next week too. I just hope they will at least let me have a peek in the motor room.

Derelict means abandoned, empty, forgotten. Therefore, a derelict building is an abandoned building.

@@beedslolkuntus2070 I like all lifts 70s and older. I also like Otis Gen2s, Kone EcoDiscs and Schindler 3300s. Pretty much all lifts that aren't generic.

I think of it this way, they might also be thinking the same about us! I just acknowledge they are there by a thumbs up, then we do what we're doing and we leave the others alone to do what they do. Not had a problem "yet"!

This plant closed in 1978 and they moved to a new factory on the Wirral. Apparently last month they announced the Wirral plant is closing and production will be outsourced…
