The drawbacks of electric motorcycles is the perfect excuse to stop and enjoy a coffee! 😂😂

just found this video today as it wasnt coming up for me on a search for livewire for weeks ! fascinating video - well done ! (for some reason you remind me of Paul Rodgers!)

Terrific video... planning my own LiveWire weekend touring trip in the next couple weeks. Appreciate the inspiration! Charging infrastructure (and reliability) IMO is the biggest challenge near term. The bike works if you adapt and understand the limitations.

Totally agree Eric. Let us know how it goes!

What a great video, I just ordered one lifewire, and for me...it's the only way...

Thanks for sharing your experience and perspective! I tour on my Zero, and currently looking at the LiveWire as a second 2 wheels

That was great. Thanks for this. I have been thinking about going electric for my next bike. This is at the top of my list.

Great video and I agree 100%
I bought the LW a year ago and been commuting 100 mi daily (all through the New England winter). I can’t wait to take a tour myself but mine only charges at L1 rn and I can’t get in to the shop for another two months. Stay safe and keep posting great stuff about the LW. Electric is THE way!

Oh man that’s hardcore JJ! I also have a level 3 charging issue. Fortunately it didn’t happen on my touring experiment, but it’s hit and miss. Right now H-D refuses to do anything about it and blames it on the charging stations.

WHAT AN AMAZING VIDEO! Really, thank you for sharing with the community your experience. No doubt people will be looking into the Livewire for touring as the bike becomes more popular. The overall message of decarbonizing your lifestyle for greater change topped it off.

I know it's lame commenting on your own comment. I wrote my initial comment 4 months ago. I finally bought the Livewire last week. Recently, I was thinking about this video since it was the only one that talked about taking it long distance, so I just sought it out! Best bike I have owned.

I am not your dad's age but it sounds like I could tour with him being off the bike early.
This bike is so much fun, it's too bad people won't give it a chance.
I like your jacket but I'm not allowed to have light colors since I'm a slob.
    I enjoyed the scenery, thanks.

Wondering what you’re plugged in to at 7:50? Definitely not a wall which is what I thought we had to do ...😅

I bought a VW eGolf last summer and will never go back to ICE. Now it's time to upgrade my motorcycle addiction to electric as well. Your comments about climate change and being able to adapt were well said. With an EV you discover the ownership experience is simply different, and often better, and the limitations are a small sacrifice for a much larger gain. And you also learn you will have to answer a lot of questions from the Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt crowd. Thanks for the great video!

A more important question is, can you afford one, if the answer is yes then there's nothing else to worry about hahaha. This is the first factory HD I'd consider buying as I am genuinely intrigued by electric motorcycles and I know there's a lot of brand new tech in there but it's just too expensive I'm afraid

Battery tech is still not there , we need a breakthrough as big as going from nimh to lipo was.
But actually the batteries COULD be charged faster ( my rc batteries take 10 mins ) if done carefully and if the chargers could deliver..

Love touring on electric bikes. Have been doing this in Australia for the last 7 years. Just switched to a HD LW and looking for luggage solutions. Do you have more details on how you mounted your luggage on the bike?

    • @DJPTEXAS
      @DJPTEXAS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Check out Kriega systems... they come with universal frame mounts...expandable system, 30l, 20 , 10, ect...

Thanks Diego! That means a lot coming from you. I know that you’ve traveled a LOT further than me on your Livewire. If you’re ever in North County San Diego let me know. We can get out for a ride.

In the two years since you made this video: Are you still riding the Livewire? Have you done more touring on it? Did you figure a better system for mounting luggage/gear? Thx, and thanks for the video.

I am a major EV enthusiast and I can tell you that I have full confidence that it won’t be too long before we have a cruiser type bike that could do two or 300 miles on the highway because of the way the battery technology is improving at such a rapid pace. Like you said, it’s the only way forward.

That was really insightful, the comment about the lack of vibration and noise. That was EXACTLY what I wanted to hear and pushes me further toward getting the Livewire One. Do you think its better to wait for the ONE or just buy the original livewire?

I'm sure it's possible the way you planned it out. It's just that it makes trips take a lot longer still than filling up and keep going right away. Definitely way better than expected tho. Also takes away from unplanned adventures with your bike. Definitely getting there tho

We got used to putting gas in our vehicles. And we're so used to it, the change seems hard. But it's just a matter of making some changes. And it'll be old hat in no time.

Just curious... I have heard that you can't fast charge all the time or it will wear the battery down. Is that true? Great vid by the way!

Im whit you all the way ! super video , i have one to ,and here in Europe , the charging problem is the same and even less charging point then in the usa, but like you say ,its the only way !! thanks for the Video !

good video . is possible if charge stations on way. is just the silent ride thats scares me . is already bad that dommy drivers dont see you on moto . but if they dont hear you . i guess you have to be more carefull . there is a guy that done some road trips on a zero in east coast . your right about your argument . looks like fun . i got a regular moto and is gas station find plan or carrie extra gas . in so az here is even harder for ev but rides are epic .

Many true words! I'm doing the same on an Energica EVA. 🔋🏍️⚡
I was bummed out on being a polluter too.
It's not worth riding on ICE bikes nowadays for your pleasure trips. Or commuting for that matter. Hell it's totally unnecessary 😂

"more people wanting them prices come down" absolutely wrong! its called supply and demand. more people want it, prices go up. great video though! I have one as well and its always a good time.

    • @johnraconteur1723
      @johnraconteur1723 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There is also economics of scale. Higher demand leads to higher production volume and lower production costs.
Now, lower production costs don't necessarily mean lower price tags. Competition within the class at lower prices could lead to lower price tags, but more competition within the class depends on higher demand.
      It's all inter related.

Yeah, batteries will be the sticking point, the rest of the bike is cheaper than ice to make.
If there is ever a real breakthrough in battery tech ( the last real improvement was going from ninth to lithium ) the electric will be much more viable as long as producing the power is green ..

Anybody .. tell me .. why charging is made so hard !!! .. just let me wireless pay and give me some kwh .. dont do all these apps cards and subscriptions !!!
