$230 retail. GC had Sonic blue floor model and it was on sale for $150 for the 4th July sale. The middle lock broke off and GC dropped it to $100 flat. It fits my Sonic Blue Mustang a little tight but it works great
This exact thing happened to me on my Fender Deluxe Reverb Tone Master. It's a great amp, but that 'finishing touch' speaks to QC. On the back of the amp, the tolex was coming off and I'm going to try to glue it back on.
Fender doesn't give a shit. It's a corporate numbers game to them and they know what percentage will likely be returned or sent to landfills. They factor all these things in when manufacturing in communist China. Sad state of affairs. TKL makes their stuff in both Canada and the U.S. Try to buy from them, though I know it's nice to have Fender branding and the Fender look.
I got two of these cases from Amazon. Assuming they'd be comparable to my G&G tweed, I figured it was a good deal. The latches are flimsy and the material was peeling. Returned both of them within an hour of taking delivery. Pretty much garbage.
Well damn, you just helped me spend an extra $100 bucks! 😁. I was headed down the path to a Classic series tweed for a new Player Strat Plus Top that sounds wonderful. Now I'm gonna have to get a G&G based on this and the rest of the comments I'm seeing. This is assuming the G&G's are still up to snuff. Maybe the Gators may be a better value / quality? If anyone has any recent experience with the recent G&Gs or the Gators, I'd love to hear some feedback.
I myself bought the Navy blue case that was made in China and I have the exact same problem. Now I don't know if I should go get some glue and try to fix it myself, or if I should just message Fender to see if I can get a replacement. I've bought a lot of stuff from fender but it sure is disappointing that this case just seems like a Shoddy made in China product.
The glue on the one I had was really sticky and not cured so I doubt new glue would stick without cleaning all of the old stuff off. I'd just call Fender to discuss. Tell them to watch my video if they have any questions. Their tech support is generally really good.
the glaring problem for me on both cases is that the guitar body isn't supported and the headstock and strap pin on the bottom are basically the points of impact while it's in the case
The Tom Morello Strat comes in one of these. i was really disappointed about the quality of the case since this is my most expensive guitar. The other "affordable" cases from thomann, musicstore/fame, gator i have are more robust.
Thanks for the comment. All of these cases have gone up recently too. The Classic cases are 180.00 and the G&G Deluxe cases are 300.00. The molded plastic cases are $230.00 and probably the best deal of those three at the moment.
@@timtompkins6752 The irony. All while he profits from capitalist Fender and others. The guy is a clown. Peddles the faux commie thing like McDonald's does Happy Meals.
Yeah I'd probably go for the molded case over the Classic series; I happened to see this recently, so my confidence is not high they are improving: th-cam.com/video/xTNJakynfqI/w-d-xo.html
@@hoganshideout I ended up ordering one of the deluxe molded cases (silver and inka blue lining). Currently £149 over here in the U.K. with free postage. The G&G’s no doubt will be exceptional quality but they are priced around £229 over here and didn’t want to pay that much.
I wish I would have seen this 2 days ago before I bought one for my Jaguar at Sweetwater. The case is absolute garbage. It doesn't close all the way tight, the top isn't line up correctly. You have to pull the top half towards the right to line it up to even open it because the garbage latches are in a bind if you don't. Surprisingly the tolex is glued ok. Definitely sending this back.
I got one of these with a Fender guitar I bought. It works fine. I've had a few G&G cases. Yes, the knobs/handle/opening of the case feels lesser quality, it's been fine though. Guitar fits excellently and the case closes nice and tight. No peeling on the inside. I've never dropped a guitar case or had one break on me before and don't plan on it. I didn't even know about the Classic Series cases before I owned one. Pay the extra money if you want the G&G, this works for me though. I don't see any reason to get rid of it. It does its job fine. Came with 2 keys, which I've never tried.
bought a green one at guitar center had to go through 7 cases all had the peeling back in compartment. settled for the best of them but still very poor.
I have over 20 guitars, at least 6 of them have Chinese made Fender wood cases. Never had a single issue with them, I've had some issues with some American made molded cases by other brands, which I returned.
Well other than the fact the latches are cheap, the material is subpar and the cases don’t close without leaving a gap… I’m sure they’re great but this shouldn’t be sold under the Fender name?! These case’s should $99 at most not the $299 price tag I’ve seen on some. I don’t even have an American Strat but my $1100 Fender player plus feels like a quality guitar and plays every bit as good as it’s cousin. But Fender should feel ashamed to put this case out with their name on it… either make a better case that closes properly… or change the price to $99 and the case name to Bender
Thank you for saving me $299!!! I just bought a Fender Player Plus Strat in Olympic Pearl with red tortoiseshell pick guard… I was just about to buy this and I’ve heard the new Fender cases are junk?! *Where* can I get a *REAL FENDER CASE?!*
Thanks for the comment and suggestion. I don't still have the case to try any fixes, but I don't think that would have worked. The glue was already soft and gummy. Other than that it was a functional case.
I bought this case for my fender strat player guitar. My question is would this hold up at an airport? Y’all know how they just be throwing luggage around.
Fukken great....I just bought a one of these cases in Sonic Blue. Waiting for it to arrive. You'd expect it to be a great case for the $220 they try to get for 'em. Caught a sale on mine...$190. 20 Years ago I bought a G&G custom shop case for $120 at Guitar center. Now cases are almost double and this is what you get? Hope mine isn't like this. If so, I'll find a way to fix it......and I will write shittty reviews on it and send shittty communication/feedback to Fender personally by email and phone.
Just bought the red version of this case ,same exact problems. Very poor quality. For $200. Bucks. I expected better. How Fender put its name on this is insanity. My telecaster fits in but after a minute it’s so badly knocked out of tune from pressure on the headstock. Again I can’t believe Fender put their name on this garbage. It’s like a knock off. I’m still keeping it. The plastic flight case that comes with the ultras are the best case I’ve seen so far. I just wanted this case to be good cause it looks so cool. It is total crap. Shoulda been like $80 bucks. Not 200 ,great video.
I almost bought one of these cases in dark blue. Thanks to videos such as this one that I decided to spend a little bit more for a Fender Deluxe case. Shame on you Fender for putting out this kind of junk!
Thanks for the video, unfortunately I saw it too late. I had already purchased this Fender classic series case that was made in China. My stratocaster did not even fit into it properly! Can you imagine, an official Fender product, but Fender stratocaster does not fit in well! I will throw this case to rubbish dump and will buy a proper case for my precious guitar. People, don't waste your money on these chinese crap cases!
I have a wood case i got from sweetwater...fender wood case for p bass...the problems are all over that thing..bad latches the sewn on end edges aren't sewn on they were glued with shit glue and never stuck they hang off the edges...i have to glue them on myself i can see with some industrial shit that never will come off. The inside is fine but the case craftsmanship on the outer case is absolute crap and they have the balls to put corona California on a tag inside the case...laughable.

Just got a navy blue case sadly made in China luckily the material underneath the lid for the storage was not peeling
That's good to hear. It could have been a bad batch of glue on these two.
Thanks so much. I was trying to figure out the difference.
