Yeah...if Corny needs to take some time off to do so it is fine with me some things are just more important; and personally I know how he feels I recently lost a few loved ones including my dad and I keep asking why? What makes it worse is because of everything going on I couldn't be there to say good bye to anyone. It is upsetting but this is not about me it is about Corny and all of Bobby Eaton's loved ones they have my deepest sympathies may he rest in peace.

Thing is, with something like this usually you have someone in the marketing department handle this and maybe one of the higher ups which should be Tony Khan. Moxley had no reason to even comment and I don't know why he did because he made it even worse. Where AEW could had maybe just said they weren't aware of what ads would show up in their hardcore match and passed it off as just a miscommunication maybe (might be harder to do since this type of wrestling isn't popular and for a reason), Moxley just fucked it by showing them they don't care about treating a company with respect. They literally also had a Disney ad on while Gage was cutting Jericho ffs.

If I were Tony.. well I wouldn't even have this match at all but if for some reason it had to be a thing, I would had contacted TNT and basically asked if having this type of match is okay or tell them we are having this type of match, is there anything we should do so we don't piss off anyone? Hell, I wouldn't even had had the picture in picture, I think that was the real issue. They basically implied a relationship by having a Dominos ad play beside their deathmatch. Even a Disney ad was playing while Gage cut Jericho's head with that pizza cutter.

At the age of 10,about 36 years ago,I met Jim,Bobby,and Dennis backstage(or back gym) at a spot show in the massively huge town of Reserve,La. They managed to be nice and still be heels Unlike Buddy Landell who called me a little “co*ksucker”. I was more partial to heels,and that meeting made me a perma-heel fan and I still rooted for the Express when they turned face in 1988. Always a fan! Thank you for the memories Bobby!

To the best of my knowledge Beautiful Bobby Eaton was the only Pro Wrestler ever to hold The NWA or CWA MidAmerica Heavyweight Championship for BOTH Nick Gulas and Jerry Jarrett owned Companies, transpiring between 1980 and 1983. AEW has a habit of deflecting any criticism levelled towards them without even considering if what people are saying is constructive or valid. The blame towards WWE is just more paranoid conspiracy theories from people who want something bigger to happen in wrestling because overall the two main companies are bad.

Here's the difference, Jon. Probably half the US population over the age of 35 remembers the Noid and would respond positively based on nostalgia alone. How many people respond positively to death match wrestling? A hundred thousand, tops?
We're literally at a time where nostalgia is a thing and is getting over like how movies make a sequel for an old movie or say Nintendo making a smaller version of their Nintendo console from the 80s. Does Moxley follow anything outside of deathmatch wrestling? I know he isn't a social person which is fine but like I don't buy he doesn't at least pay attention to what's trendy especially when he has a wife who is outgoing.

They don't need AEW but the fact that Moxley is acting like Dominos getting upset isn't something to take serious shows how stupid he is about this. Even if Dominos isn't a huge loss on them, other companies like Cornette said could end up looking at AEW closely and if they notice anything they don't like, they will back off. My other thought too is this could fuck up wrestling again promotional wise mainly if someone else wants to start a show and air it on TV and need sponsors. WWE is fine because they have for years consistantly built their relationships with other brands and celebrities and gained their trust. AEW to most fans they like because "oh it's a variety show". Okay well when you have hardcore matches like this and normal matches, you need to pick which audience you cater to and what type of content you will show so sponsors and other companies can be assured that, "okay this person has this type of content for adults and people who are into hardcore fighting. Our ads target a similar demographic so we should be fine."
@@Raven34643 Basically. I learned marketing and public relations in my college program and this would had been serious to a competent team. AEW isn't even that big yet to blow off sponsors or companies like this, they need to build relationships and trust. Having Moxley tweet that just shows that even their employees can't be trusted and shows that Tony has done nothing to keep this relationship since he never even told his wrestlers to keep quiet when it comes to this and let their marketing or public relations people handle this as well as himself since this is his company.
Domino's is well within its rights to protect its interests.

Here’s a brief summary for those that would like to know about the Dominos / Noid case:
In 1989, a Georgia man named Kenneth Noid took two Domino’s employees hostage at an Atlanta area restaurant because he thought the pizza chain created the Noid to mock him. No one was hurt during the hours-long standoff. Noid was later charged with kidnapping and assault, but he was found not guilty by reason of insanity and institutionalized. In 1995, he committed suicide.

I really used to think Moxley was cool. When he left WWE I thought "Good for him, he was underutilized and overshadowed by Rollins and Reigns." I knew he had his origins in the deathmatch crap, but I figured surely he'd left that in his past, learned how to wrestle from his time high on the card in a major promotion and now he's gonna take over the world working New Japan and AEW (back when I had hopes AEW might turn out to be something too).
And here we are today. Every time he opens his mouth, he sounds like more of a mark then me and I've never wrestled a day in my life, he defends this deathmatch garbage, seems somehow genuinely convinced Nick Gage, the man who mutilates himself and others in front of 10s of people in a field for probably a few $100 at best is some underappreciated megastar to be and works the same, insufferable, 20 minute hardcore match week in week out.
I've come to genuinely just be over anything to do with him. Meanwhile, Rollins is... doing some weird stuff but he's still a great wrestler who knows what he's doing and, in spite of working for a terrible company that puts on a terrible product around him, Roman Reigns is the biggest actual star in wrestling.

The only thing I would add to this and I'm surprised Jim didn't say it, but WWE wasn't necessarily trying to bury AEW by "snitching" on them. They're trying to distance themselves from the situation and say "hey, this wasn't us", because all it would take is some uninformed media outlet to post the storyline "WWE superstar Chris Jericho cut by pizza cutter on TV while Domino's Pizza ad plays in the break", something like that. Even if it said former that still would put heat on them and it wouldn't be a good look.
Even if WWE did stooge them, it's still AEW's fault for doing it to begin with.
Stooging was perfectly fine when the far left was doing it to people last March-May for not wearing masks in their own yards, back before those same people suddenly decided all cops were evil.

On January 30, 1989, a 22-year-old man named Kenneth Lamar Noid walked into a Domino’s Pizza in Atlanta, Georgia, with a .357 magnum revolver and took two employees hostages. After a five-hour standoff during which Noid demanded $100,000 in ransom money, the employees in question escaped. But the damage to the Noid brand was done: not only was the headline too good to ignore (“Domino’s Hostages Couldn’t Avoid the Noid this Time”) but it turned out that Kenneth Lamar Noid actually believed he was the Noid-or, at least, the Noid’s original inspiration.
At first I thought Moxley was just a mark for hardcore wrestling, but his reverence for Nick Cage goes beyond simple markdom and into the world of delusion.

Say what you want about Nick Gage and/or Deathmatch Wrestling, at the end of the day I dont think even Jericho was aware of when TV was gonna go to commercial let alone what the damn ad was gonna be. Dudes are in the ring in front of a live crowd. They got other stuff to deal with.
Could something have been done from a managerial standpoint, perhaps, but considering Dominoes bought that time slot and things just happened to end up the way they did, well now we can learn from this and put a safeguard in place.

Of a sudden someone from the back on a earpiece said hey the dominos pizza spot is on tell gage to use the pizza cutter….like I said what are the odds? That’s the problem with commercial split screen….you might get something like this happening and things go off the rails….to me it just was oddball timing of it…not that I am defending this match you knew what you were getting when you had a death match on free TV which is why I say this L belongs to the network

How has Mox with so little talent achieved so much in wrestling? Typically if a wrestler only knows 2 or 3 moves, he has to rely on charisma. But, mox has neither wrestling training or natural charisma.
Surely seeing one of the Stone Cold wannabes matches would be enough to cancel there sponsorship deal.
People wonder why he never really did personal appearances or spoke on shows.
