  • Here is part 2 of my BlackRidge Air Spray Gun with 10 litre Spray Tank.
    I think this is definitely the best spray gun for painting a timber fence.
    Buy your Blackridge Air Spray Gun from SuperCheap Auto
    📌 www.supercheap...
    I demonstrate painting a timber fence with the Spray Gun using the 10 litre Spray Tank filled with fence paint.
    The speed at which this paint gun covers large areas is indeed quite impressive.
    I spray painted a fence 41 metres long and 2 metres in height, and the air spray gun used around 16 litres of paint.

    I use one at work. But mine has 2 gauges on tank lid. 1 Air Pressure gauge & 1 Fluid Pressure gauge. And got rid of the 5 meter hose & got a 10 meter hose.

    In the cleaning instructions it says: "Loosen thumb screws, tip clamps back and tip tank lid down to one side. Loosen spray gun air cap about three turns then turn on the air supply. Cap cloth over air cap on the gun and pull trigger. This will force the material back through the hose, into the tank". Do you understand how this works? Is it using gravity? I guess not since it says to turn on the air supply again, however the lid is supposed to be off tank?. I will be using 2 part paint and purging the lines before cleaning with solvent will help greatly. Thanks for the videos and any advice.

      I found the spray tank easy to clean, and the spray gun needed a bit more effort with the hoses and gun itself.

    DONT SPRAY IN THE SUNSHINE!!! paint should cure slowly, for bonding purposes...

    • @GarryPurcell

      I used fence paint, its a lot thinner than normal outdoor paint, its more like a thick stain.

    • @johnanderson8096

      @@GarryPurcell I knew that it was a solid stain... done in the shade, the stain has more time to bond(sink in being a stain, and cure)... Ive been painting professionally since 75'... Your a good sport... It was a good video, I enjoyed it... Thank you

    Would it be possible to put a 1-gallon can inside the pressure pot without pouring it into the pot? Just wondering if cleanup could be made easier that way.

    • @GarryPurcell
      @GarryPurcell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cans can fit inside the pot, but I don't think it would make a lot of difference when it comes to cleanup.

    A Wally with a spray gun well he's certainly no top gun, why water the paint down no need to do that, now a Wally with a paint brush, you spend all that money on a spray unit and then end up using a paint brush, priceless. R.

    • @GarryPurcell
      @GarryPurcell  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm let me see, I used a water based paint for the fence at 100% strength, and the only water I used was for cleaning the sprayer after using it.
      I assume you have never painted a raw fence in your life before.

      The biggest problem on the day, was that I wanted to get on with the job at hand, but I had to stop myself short, and talk to the camera, plus make sure I was in the camera frame.

    Hi Garry, Thanks for taking the time to run us all through the workings. I was wondering however, is this unit ONLY to be used for water based paint or can paint and thinners be run through it as well? I am looking to paint a bus I have and this size unit would make the job soooo much simpler and quicker but automotive paint is quite different to what you have shown. Cheers Mike

    • @GarryPurcell
      @GarryPurcell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can run oil based paints, but cleanup is messier, if that helps.
      I'm not sure how this system would work with automotive paints.
      I'd suggest you contact your paint supplier, and ask them for advice.

      Hi Garry, I’ve just read one of the comments on here about Oil based paint.. I’m actually setting up my spray pot now to paint my chassis on me prime mover, but now not sure. I’ll probably have to ring someone at Supercheap just to make sure it’s ok to use Oil based paint. Also I have a 2.5 hp / 50 LT air compressor is that sufficient enough?
      Look forward for your reply cheers.

    Its simplier if you use an airless spray gun. This is too complicated. And if you know how to use an airless sprayer you can have the same results as an air sprayer.

    • @GarryPurcell
      @GarryPurcell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      On a small area, I'd agree with you 🙂
      On a large area, such as a fence or an outside wall on a house, I'd stick with the 10 litre spray system.

      Hi Ross
      These are indeed a briliant unit, and make very short work of any large spray painting jobs.
      Just make sure you check all your connections, before you run any paint through it, especially for the first time.
      Remember to take your time initally, and you'll pick up the natural rythym of the spraygun, and before you know it, you'll be finished the job, and packing up.

    Did the wee compressor manage to keep up with the sprayer?
