    Nick is asking why they didn’t do this in the summer, it’s simple. Udoka wasn’t available then so they didn’t have anybody they thought was a big upgrade until he became availability. Owner was just being patient and he did the right thing because now they have a great coach

      Use ben simmons as a point power forward basically like how way later in his career tim duncan would do he'd drive to the paint or whatever and pass out of the post repeatedly and set up shop to open up the offense FROM THE POST and ben can hold his own somewhat in the post, I think its the best outcome going forward, but make ben like a more....defensive able tim duncan without the scoring in a sense.

      @@joes.2647 The Celtics dropped Udoka. The minute the Celtics dropped Udoka, the Nets have been waiting for Nash to fail so they could hire Udoka. The reason why they fired Nash so fast is because they already had Udoka on the line as the OP said! They didn't fire Nash in the offseason because Udoka wasn't available in the offseason.
      As I understand it, Udoka coached the Nets as an assistant before going to the Celtics. The Nets owner/GM is from the Spurs organization and has history with Udoka. The Nets players also really liked Udoka when he coached there.
      This is why they are comfortable hiring Udoka after the drama in Boston. The Nets management and players already have history with Udoka and don't care about what went on in Boston.

    While Nash's lack of emphasis on defense was an issue, even if they bring in a defensive minded coach, they don't have the defensive players to ever have a great defensive presence

    Lot of people also forget, Idoka was with Ben Simmons at the 76ers prior to his former role with the Nets. He was a key input to Ben who led the defensive unit at the Sixers with Thybulle and Embiid. They were top 5 in the NBA in defense that season.

    This is really simple. Don’t know why they’re making it hard. Maybe for the ratings. Nash was never going to finish the season. They told Durant let us find a coach first otherwise Vaughn would be the replacement. They were either waiting for a coach to be available or seeing how to hire ime Udoka

    The most major issue is that you cannot teach defense to players who have either barely or never played defense. For most of these Nets players, it was never in their role to play defense. Their roles were to either score or shoot the ball.

    KD wanted both Nash and Marks fired that's why they didn't do it over the summer. It would be odd to let go of one and not the other plus it would seem like they were doing it strictly bc of KD. The seasons a mess already so now it's more justified. Nick is just miserable over the Lakers and doesn't want to see any other team except the Mavs do well.

    This is a very good show! I like all three commentators! Nick got it going!!! Broussard adds so much! Wiles has a great slant on the topics! I am torn between Skip and Shannon and this show as being my #1. But, I am ok having two #1 sports talk shows. I am an expat living in northern Japan. It is so satisfying to listen to sports talk.

    Case 3 : Harden & Kyrie Playoff Injuries

    To answer Nick’s question as to why the nets didn’t let Steve Nash go the first or second season we’ll it’s simple. 1st season, the nets are doing good, they make it to the second round and are destroying the bucks but then Harden and Kyrie go down. Second season (which was last season) KD gets injured and misses a lot of time, Kyrie only plays 25% of the season if that and James harden requests a trade and gets dealt so the Nets wanted to give Nash a chance this season but obviously it’s not working so they’re making a change now before it goes really bad. It’s really that simple
