As a player who hasn't played in many years, this is way too overwhelming. I think I'm just gonna quit again. This game is way too complex to get back into.
When he goes flappy boi mode, on the 2nd flap of his wings, when the top of his wings meet the staff, if you surge at that point, you'll avoid damage entirely. I dont even bother prayer swapping through that mechanic.

While that's a good strategy, if you have the Shadow Ring Upgrade. Just pray Against Melee and walk away. When he plunges the ground. The hit should be about 450-800 with Melee Prayer/Curse and that way you don't lose DPS. I know it sounds crazy because it goes against what we've been told to do (which is surge when the wing tips point upwards) but you lose a lot of DPS when surging away. You CAN still attack Kerapac when he's in the air, and if you just walk with Protect Melee on, you keep attacking and you don't lose any DPS which makes Phasing him way more easy and consistent.
Definitely soulsplitting and surging/escaping when the staff starts to come down. The issue is channeled abilities, which will say the target is too far away after surging; so I gotta walk back a bit with a basic or wild magic to keep yeeting spells at him. There's also the echos; I've been leaving it to luck only whether or not I surge into where they land, I didn't know it was based on where he slammed on the previous phases. Good to know, but even when they do hit me while I'm soulsplitting, it's just a 2k hit. I can easily sousplit that back. I like this mechanic, it's like a dark souls 1 parry window Edit: there's a solid chance I'll be using surge/escape during gcd, resulting in no real dpm loss
I don't normally comment, but I know that many say look at his wings during his charges to surge. I dodge this mechanic based on when his staff just starts going downwards. You actually have a lot of time to get it right. Just remember watch the staff and the moment the top starts going down is when you can surge/escape/dive. I have as close to 100% success as is possible here. The only time it fails is if I get distracted by something IRL. I also have been able to switch to soul split here and heal during the hole phase.
You can surge through the lightning without getting hit as long as you surge early enough, no need for devotion. Also if using mele, if you hit surge just after kerapac angles his spear down you will dodge and if you hit barge ability you will surge back to him, your surge/barge regenerates 100% if you dodge the dive successfully, better than putting mele pray on and taking the hit imo
The timewarp does not extend abilities, even tho the timer extends the abilities will still expire with the old timer. You dont need to bring the ring to avoid stuns.
Small tip: If you have a target cycle keybind, press it shortly Kerapac spawns and jumps down, and you should be able to target him about 2 seconds sooner than you can click on him.

The wing mechanic i noticed is best to dodge waiting til his wings start to move inward, basically surge half a second after his wings start going inwards. I dunno if that timing will work with all levels of PID, but i think usually the first 3 ones he does is the best time gauge how well your surge responds to his animation.

as i said on your other video to. the rift mechanic where he says "il tear right through you" can be completely avoided by simply standing under him the moment he moves his staff down. "so you can time it tick perfect" this way of avoiding has NOT been patched out.
I look at the animation of kerapac his staff when he does the body slam. He lowers it and the moment it is pointing to you he does the slam. Just click surge when he is in the middle of that animation. No need to count mississipi or all that nonsense. Its the same way you predict the auto attacks at Raksha, look at the animation.

For the jump slam. Like said in the video just time your surge/escape perfectly. It's fairly easy because you can do either 2 things to time it; You get enough time to put in 2 abilities and then surge immediately after OR you wait until his wings are closed and that's your queue. And the lightning walls, im not sure if I skipped a tick but I was able to walk through it without taking damage, like you would walk through the QBD waves. I only managed to do this 3 times though and it was purely by accident.
On phase 4, I switch to a wand/shield style and use shadow spells. Having access to all defensive abilities (and the special effect of shadow spells reduces damage dealt) makes the phase a bit more comfortable. Reflect and Debilitate are MVPs. Still rough if you're running out of food, but dropping your mage prayer and resonance-ing a hit for a 4k heal is really good.
I'm kinda new to the game but man clicking to move in combat is really hard to get use to cuz every game I play is WASD but I'm getting use to it slowly lol.

@@Kranon That's a good point. I just stand there on the second stomp and most of the time devotion perk activates and that lets me skip lightning. Also had a time where after I did that he did the 3 stomps again and did 5 total. So I'm wondering if you could break it and make him do that the whole time.
Against Kerapac NM solo you will want a minimum of T85 weapons for faster DPS. Your armor doesn't matter as much as you realise because of the typeless damage and the armor piercing in p4. For invent you want at minimum Holy Overload/ Supreme Overload, the highest weapon poison you can get a hold of, super restore, brews and blue blubber (as they don't deplete adren). When gearing it is important to note that surviving p4 is the big test. Because you are hit with heavy magic damage range seems to be the most optimal setup, so having range power armor or tank such as death lotus can mitigate a little damage, but the best thing to use is Devotion. At 35k use devotion, then time warp. Once you warp back, devotion is reset. This gives you up to 20s of damage free opportunity to DPS him to death. The more rage stacks he has the higher he hits and at 200 stacks he will hit for 6k each hit. For low level gear the advice is to bring the highest BoB you have available and stuff it with food. If you have T90 weapons then you will most likely be damaging him enough to skip mechanics. The last question is ammo. Ruby and Diamond bolts are always a good choice for bosses, while Bak Bolts have a higher damage output. As a dragon class monster, dragon bane and Dragon Slayer add damage. My personal gear is a perked Decimation Bow, Power Armor with Devoted/ Impatient and Enhanced Devoted and my usual boss backpack setup of Supreme Overload, Brews, Restores, BBJs and BoB with additional Jellies.
Yo cant use devotion on the slamming attack, he removes it and even speaks to you, a pretty nice touch they added. Anyway it's still another great guide by the king of guides 😁
If anyone really wants to kill it but doesn't care about efficiency, you can just bring magic tank armor and use animate dead and the boss becomes ridiculously easy although you obviously miss out on some dps. Can fail just about every mechanic and barely use any food, I like that method on my ironman as my DPS is still garbage and I can easily farm the boss with just some excess beltfish I have
12:50 this is a bug, your barricade doesnt reset! yes you can cade again, but your cade is ending like usual. You can see that a few second later where you cade buff is gone while one sec before that you had 10 sec cade. And you still have you shield equiped.
You can avoid the slam down mechanic. When his wings pointed up, right before he slams use surge. it doesnt put it on cooldown (if timed correctly) so you can surge 3 times in a row. Ezpz 😁

@@Kranon after surge click kerapac. As long as you are range or mage you will still damage him while hes in the air. Only lose 1 second by surging. I still skip the walls. But ya either way works depending on gear set up

Yes, that's my average on Mobile :) Something that could reduce the time would be using something like a Grimoire and keep Split Soul up throughout the fight, and maybe spamming Dark Bow Spec from your EOF. Maybe Sub 2:00 is possible with more optimization but 2:10 Is already good enough, also, for the Dive/Slam attack Just Pray Melee and walk away. No need to surge. The Pontifex Shadow Ring negates the Stun from that attack, and the damage you get from the melee hits can be Soul Splitted back, no problem, surging is taxing to your DPS and, if you do this correctly, you'll always skip the Lightning Walls and save lots of time, at least on Normal Mode.
I didn't even consider using Barricade. I've just been using Debilitate and surging through where the lightning walls overlap... There's actually a lot of windows of opportunity for Soul Split in this fight. In addition to between each jump slam, you can use it while he's channeling the rift ability back to himself, and while he's drawing power from the Needle at each phase transition. Even though you won't do any damage to him until his health resets, I'm pretty sure you can still heal off of it. It's what I've been doing and it's saved me a ton of food.
Oof, there's already plenty of comments so hopefully mine doesn't get lost, but i think it's way better to walk away when Kerapac Lunges/Dives instead of using surge, and here's why: While Surging away is good strategy, if you have the *Shadow Pontifex Ring Upgrade* (you cannot get stunned from Kerapac Dives). Just pray Against Melee and *walk away* when he plunges the ground, walk about 5 Tiles while using something like Rapid Fire (assuming you have Fleeting boots) also use your bleeds here. The Melee hit should be about 450-800 though Melee Prayer/Curse and that way you don't lose DPS, also you can SS the damage back at the phase transitions so you can STILL no food this boss. I know this may sound crazy because it goes against what we've been told to do (which is surge when the wing tips point upwards) but you lose a lot of DPS when surging away, this strategy does not lose any DPS. You CAN still attack Kerapac when he's in the air, and if you just walk with Protect Melee on, you keep attacking and you don't lose any DPS which makes Phasing him way more easy and consistent, it also makes your kills faster and, in normal mode, ensures you don't see ANY Lightning Wall.
As soon as you get the Pontifex Shadow Ring Upgraded (With 1,000 Resonant anima) just throw it into your bank, you DON'T need to have it worn not in your inventory to benefit from the "Anti-Stun". Wearing the ring is only beneficial if you want Tier 2 Elder Troves, but even then, I'd just wait for the next Updgrade to get Tier 3 Troves and the ring updgrades to Tier 4 Luck. But right now, is not worth using so just upgrade it and bank it.
I'm kinda wondering if he actually wants to kill you, like is he just putting in minimal effort that Jas accepts it? Cause I feel like a dragonkin using 2 Elder Artefacts shouldn't be beatable? Or is it your world guardian power that causes the Needle to malfunction on you and to reduce damage from the staff?

Um, as someone who doesn't get the chance to pvm much, kerapc is way easier than araxxor. I did rax an ok amount back when I played more. Life is busier and now I don't get but maybe like 1-2 hours a week to do bossing. I struggle with rax and short of 4 or 5 deaths early on when learning with kerapac, I've died 2 times in like 50 kc (got a little more time this week to boss).
@@Kranon I've never killed the magister to know tbh. I personally find kerapac like maybe right inbetween rax and helwyr/Greg. Definitely harder than the later 2, but similarly easier than rax. I figured out how to kill kerapac with I think 4 deaths and then died 2 times in 50 kills honestly because I was too comfortable and not paying attention.

Haven't watched the video yet. Tried a couple kills. Completely fucked up and only brought my main hand ascension (almost killed it with just main hand), then I finally brought my offhand weapon literally after the 3rd kill and spent another 3 tries before I got to phase 4, ended up getting slapped repeatedly with 2.5k-3k hits through prayer and tried to devo and debilitate. Kinda lost on what I'm supposed to do on phase 4
Phase 4 is the easiest one. You're supposed to use the time warp button when full adrenaline, use death swiftness then your thresholds. If you're still having trouble, use devotion and enhanced excalibur ability, it helps A LOT. Tip: you could also time warp, use devotion and then devotion again so you'll be immune for a very long time.
I like this boss, but the lack of money making, outside of hardmode, it has is kind of a downer. It's (so far) a very consistent drop rate, but no rares makes for no big paydays
I have a Noon drag task. The KC on the slayer helmet doesn't go down when i kill this boss. Are u sure it counts as a task for slayer helmet bonus and on dragons too...??
Or, just pray Melee and walk away about 5 Tiles while still attacking Kerapac. If you use Melee, use this time to walk away and use GBarge as soon as he slams the ground, then Bleed Assault and use Slaughter. Surging makes you lose DPS and, if you don't DPS on this phase, getting him to Sub 50K hp will he harder and you'll get a Lightning Wall. This is the best way to avoid the lightning wall mechanic, and the only cost is like a couple 350-850 Melee Hits (if using Melee Prayer). You can also Devotion these hits if you wish. I learned about this because i didn't liked to have Surge on My Mobile Action bar, and i think it's a great tradeoff.

That wings tip is huge! I never get hit by this because of that tip once you get use to the timing you no longer have to prayer switch
when he does the slam, i switch to soul split (kind of healing phase of the fight), helps a lot!
this boss is sooo cool that its making me want to learn PvM more.
Araxxor is a good boss to learn the mechanics of. I learnt most of my PVM trying to optimize my rax kill times.

I don't think you need the ring in your inv. it can be in your bank and the effect still stops the stun

the lightning walls are really buggy currently, sometimes you don't get hit, sometimes you get hit without being in it (invisible walls)

You don't need to charged pontifex shadow ring in your inventory to not get stunned. It can be in your bank fully charged and it'll still work.
That gear setup gave me flashbacks to the old rs guy
First 5 attempts I died by phase 2.
Now I can complete the normal mode fight with like 4 sharks only :D

@@Kranon That's a good point. I just stand there on the second stomp and most of the time devotion perk activates and that lets me skip lightning. Also had a time where after I did that he did the 3 stomps again and did 5 total. So I'm wondering if you could break it and make him do that the whole time.

Against Kerapac NM solo you will want a minimum of T85 weapons for faster DPS. Your armor doesn't matter as much as you realise because of the typeless damage and the armor piercing in p4.
For invent you want at minimum Holy Overload/ Supreme Overload, the highest weapon poison you can get a hold of, super restore, brews and blue blubber (as they don't deplete adren).
When gearing it is important to note that surviving p4 is the big test. Because you are hit with heavy magic damage range seems to be the most optimal setup, so having range power armor or tank such as death lotus can mitigate a little damage, but the best thing to use is Devotion. At 35k use devotion, then time warp. Once you warp back, devotion is reset. This gives you up to 20s of damage free opportunity to DPS him to death. The more rage stacks he has the higher he hits and at 200 stacks he will hit for 6k each hit.
For low level gear the advice is to bring the highest BoB you have available and stuff it with food. If you have T90 weapons then you will most likely be damaging him enough to skip mechanics.
The last question is ammo. Ruby and Diamond bolts are always a good choice for bosses, while Bak Bolts have a higher damage output. As a dragon class monster, dragon bane and Dragon Slayer add damage.
My personal gear is a perked Decimation Bow, Power Armor with Devoted/ Impatient and Enhanced Devoted and my usual boss backpack setup of Supreme Overload, Brews, Restores, BBJs and BoB with additional Jellies.
Hell yeah perfect timing.

If anyone really wants to kill it but doesn't care about efficiency, you can just bring magic tank armor and use animate dead and the boss becomes ridiculously easy although you obviously miss out on some dps. Can fail just about every mechanic and barely use any food, I like that method on my ironman as my DPS is still garbage and I can easily farm the boss with just some excess beltfish I have
12:50 this is a bug, your barricade doesnt reset! yes you can cade again, but your cade is ending like usual. You can see that a few second later where you cade buff is gone while one sec before that you had 10 sec cade. And you still have you shield equiped.
well no its a snapshot that throws you 10 seconds back into the past so it is spose to give you renewed timers on skills if it doesn't that's the bug

You can avoid the slam down mechanic. When his wings pointed up, right before he slams use surge. it doesnt put it on cooldown (if timed correctly) so you can surge 3 times in a row. Ezpz 😁

@@Kranon after surge click kerapac. As long as you are range or mage you will still damage him while hes in the air. Only lose 1 second by surging. I still skip the walls. But ya either way works depending on gear set up

Something that could reduce the time would be using something like a Grimoire and keep Split Soul up throughout the fight, and maybe spamming Dark Bow Spec from your EOF.

There's actually a lot of windows of opportunity for Soul Split in this fight. In addition to between each jump slam, you can use it while he's channeling the rift ability back to himself, and while he's drawing power from the Needle at each phase transition. Even though you won't do any damage to him until his health resets, I'm pretty sure you can still heal off of it. It's what I've been doing and it's saved me a ton of food.
Oof, there's already plenty of comments so hopefully mine doesn't get lost, but i think it's way better to walk away when Kerapac Lunges/Dives instead of using surge, and here's why:
While Surging away is good strategy, if you have the *Shadow Pontifex Ring Upgrade* (you cannot get stunned from Kerapac Dives). Just pray Against Melee and *walk away* when he plunges the ground, walk about 5 Tiles while using something like Rapid Fire (assuming you have Fleeting boots) also use your bleeds here.
The Melee hit should be about 450-800 though Melee Prayer/Curse and that way you don't lose DPS, also you can SS the damage back at the phase transitions so you can STILL no food this boss.
I know this may sound crazy because it goes against what we've been told to do (which is surge when the wing tips point upwards) but you lose a lot of DPS when surging away, this strategy does not lose any DPS.
You CAN still attack Kerapac when he's in the air, and if you just walk with Protect Melee on, you keep attacking and you don't lose any DPS which makes Phasing him way more easy and consistent, it also makes your kills faster and, in normal mode, ensures you don't see ANY Lightning Wall.
As soon as you get the Pontifex Shadow Ring Upgraded (With 1,000 Resonant anima) just throw it into your bank, you DON'T need to have it worn not in your inventory to benefit from the "Anti-Stun". Wearing the ring is only beneficial if you want Tier 2 Elder Troves, but even then, I'd just wait for the next Updgrade to get Tier 3 Troves and the ring updgrades to Tier 4 Luck. But right now, is not worth using so just upgrade it and bank it.
I'm kinda wondering if he actually wants to kill you, like is he just putting in minimal effort that Jas accepts it? Cause I feel like a dragonkin using 2 Elder Artefacts shouldn't be beatable? Or is it your world guardian power that causes the Needle to malfunction on you and to reduce damage from the staff?

Um, as someone who doesn't get the chance to pvm much, kerapc is way easier than araxxor. I did rax an ok amount back when I played more. Life is busier and now I don't get but maybe like 1-2 hours a week to do bossing. I struggle with rax and short of 4 or 5 deaths early on when learning with kerapac, I've died 2 times in like 50 kc (got a little more time this week to boss).
Kerapac is the Magister 2.0. At least normal mode.
@@Kranon I've never killed the magister to know tbh. I personally find kerapac like maybe right inbetween rax and helwyr/Greg. Definitely harder than the later 2, but similarly easier than rax. I figured out how to kill kerapac with I think 4 deaths and then died 2 times in 50 kills honestly because I was too comfortable and not paying attention.

Haven't watched the video yet. Tried a couple kills. Completely fucked up and only brought my main hand ascension (almost killed it with just main hand), then I finally brought my offhand weapon literally after the 3rd kill and spent another 3 tries before I got to phase 4, ended up getting slapped repeatedly with 2.5k-3k hits through prayer and tried to devo and debilitate. Kinda lost on what I'm supposed to do on phase 4
Phase 4 is the easiest one. You're supposed to use the time warp button when full adrenaline, use death swiftness then your thresholds. If you're still having trouble, use devotion and enhanced excalibur ability, it helps A LOT.
Tip: you could also time warp, use devotion and then devotion again so you'll be immune for a very long time.
I like this boss, but the lack of money making, outside of hardmode, it has is kind of a downer. It's (so far) a very consistent drop rate, but no rares makes for no big paydays

I have a Noon drag task. The KC on the slayer helmet doesn't go down when i kill this boss. Are u sure it counts as a task for slayer helmet bonus and on dragons too...??

Or, just pray Melee and walk away about 5 Tiles while still attacking Kerapac.
If you use Melee, use this time to walk away and use GBarge as soon as he slams the ground, then Bleed Assault and use Slaughter.
Surging makes you lose DPS and, if you don't DPS on this phase, getting him to Sub 50K hp will he harder and you'll get a Lightning Wall.
This is the best way to avoid the lightning wall mechanic, and the only cost is like a couple 350-850 Melee Hits (if using Melee Prayer). You can also Devotion these hits if you wish.
I learned about this because i didn't liked to have Surge on My Mobile Action bar, and i think it's a great tradeoff.
