Dear mr. innit, this video HAS helped me out, just completed my first HM kill over the weekend, in part due to this video! I've got 3 HM kills in a row now and they're still ~9 mins each so I'll be working on trimming them down, but definitely taking advantage of the free death costs with the Thok's buffs!
Great guide! Some thoughts issues that I've experienced as someone still learning HM Kerapac: Kerapac feels like a game of making sure you transition with high health and adrenaline. There are two transitions I have issues with when learning Kerapac. The first is the transition into P4 - you need 100% health and 100% adrenaline going in for things to go smoothly. You can use an enhanced excalibur to make up for this. However, a big part of this is adjusting your dps so that you have the chance to build up adrenaline when you end P3. The hardest part of the fight is (for me) the transition from the first two clones to the last clone. Once you're dpsing the last Kerapac clone under reflect+revenge, the fight becomes much easier and just a matter of rotating defensives to survive. As such, getting out of the first two clones with above 65% adrenaline and above 30% health seems to be the priority. The biggest lesson I learnt that let me start getting kills was to save your adrenaline pot for just before you use time-warp -> devotion. This basically allows you to timewarp yourself back into a bunch of adrenaline, and sets you up to revenge -> reflect as you get into the last clone.
i have an unorthodox and very easy method kiling him solo in hm: i take a yak with me, i dont need any food during p1-3 as i camp soul split (mind you i do not use any low tier gear or perks), however i do not bring a shield, only defensives i use are devotion and debilitate kills are around 7 minutes (6 minutes with bik + wen arrows) during p4 i jump into one clone, and wait until the first of kerapacs clones is poisoned, then i drink the powerburst of vitality and jump into the next one, (you will arrive on the next one with like 30% hp) so i eat up, then if i want to play realy save i also wait until the 2nd one is poisoned and then jump into the third one - eating up again, then i damage down the 3rd clone of kerapac to under 10k hp, not jumping back into the other clones again and just running back to the 2nd and the last, hope my typing makes somewhat sense^^ some unorthodox method for you without needing a shield switch^^ when only 2 clones are left alife of him then i do this time effect you get and klick on devotion allowing me to get savely through this last part of the tricky fight, as the time effect runs out you will have devotion instantly again when all 3 clones are dead only kerapac himself is left. activating debilitate and healing up with sailfish + sara brew every now and then, my gear has impatient4devoted4, enhanced devoted, crackling4relentless5, biting4dragonslayer (however dragonslayer will not have any effect on tetrapak) so they are helping too passively with adrenaline gain and blocking his mage hits in p4 i find that somewhat chill :D but yes its slower as i dont have bloodreaver or ripper demon, and you will eat through like 40-60% of your yak in food
Dang such a Detailed guide. I’m finally at 5:30-6:30 solo times. Was hopeful to get some improvement tips here but just a great guide for firstimers or those confused on struggles.
Sorry it wasn't of use to you! Keep at it though! those sort of kill times improve with lots of experience at the boss ALSO are you on a slayer task? That is absolutely a big step to improving kill times at about the 5 min mark
@@InitYeah yeah I’m on slayer and run bitting geno and get to 4% geno stacks. My problem is probs that I use 3 parts crypt. Helm body and legs. But the fight is to hardcore with full elite tech lol. Even tried using 2 parts crypt and just 3 is so smooth. I think my problem comes with rotations and timing
Got my first kill on my first try with this setup before I was trying to use ranged but animate dead helps so much! Granted it takes a while took me 8 mins to get the kill but slow and steady wins the race
Love it! Would be dope to see an ability overlay so I can see your rotations your using. Just to get an idea of what your mindset is and how you deal with a lot of damage. Thanks for all you do to make this confusing game more fun for me with the little time I have to play
I don't use an ability rotation thing since my dps isn't anything special haha. You should be able to see the defence ability use though on the buff bar! :)
Need to say you gotta do a grand master quest to upgrade the pontifex shadow ring and don't say its easy to get when you gotta do quests to actually upgrade it
Awesome video man! Answered any question I had and I killed it first try, was way more chill of a kill than I expected. Now just need to work on speeding the kill up some ^_^
Duuuuude thank you SO much. This helpS TREMENDOUSLY. An amazing simple guide for a complicated boss. I just need to have a ranged guide at some point because I am SO invested in ranged. But- as I was saying - I literally only come to your videos for all things rs besides quests. YOU’RE THE GOAT INIT!!!!!!!
This is pretty much the perfect guide for beginners at HM Kerapac, and you made it at the perfect time. I'd put it off for over a year until I finally made myself watch this from beginning to end yesterday,. Today, I got my first 6 kills in the same hour (would have been 7 if I hadn't made a silly mistake I won't make again), and it was SO much easier than I thought it'd be. Couldn't have done it without you, though!
@@InitYeah if ur gonnna make a ranged one I would consider a bow as well as a strykebow so u don’t lose bik arrow poison stacks if u are making the range guide❤️
Definitely gonna try and give this guy a try out at ranged. I’ve done an okay amount of normal mode, so I think phases 1-3 should be okay. Just gotta get that phase 4 in. Out of curiosity, how worth it would you say Duo HM Kerapac is? Is there any big changes in the mechanics to note during duo mode?
I had a thought on the vitality pot strat. While you'd lose 10% adren, you COULD combine that vital pot with a sailfish soup, giving that clone an additional 15%+ health if he's still dying. Definitely going to try that myself.
@@InitYeah Can confirm got my first kills with this strat! Even pushed through one where I phased at the wrong time and had to deal with lightning during the last phase. Man tank armor + a defender is great. Still trying to time time warp but I found immediately at the start of the phase is just a little bit too early as it teleports you out of standing under kerapac's first ability. Using it immediately following that instead works okay, though just about any time you use it will be a challenge to stay in due to kerapac constantly forcing movement. I got the most use out of it in p5 trying to dps down the clones and keep defensives up when your movement is more predictable and if I was ever not sure what to do with it due to panicking I could just mash my zam staff EOF until out of adren and get that all back. Finding the best places during the kill to use it will definitely make the biggest difference in consistent future kills, but I CAN do it even with some scuffed mechanics, that's the important part!
I forget if it was the case on release, but it is worth noting if you properly escape or surge his slam mechanic, it refunds the CD of surge and escape.
You can also do this in ranged in the same way. You want Any 2h bow Bik arrows Vamp aura Blood reaver and scrolls Wen scripture Weapon poison +++ Cinderbanes Shield / defender (as a switch) Crossbow (as a switch) Hydrix Bakrimnel Bolts (e)
For me, one thing that helped was switching to incite fear on p4. Even though I don't have a FSOA, the extra adren helped so much to spam defensives and still get the big offensive hits out. Nice video :)
That helped me as well. Incite fear + tsunami and tendrils is basically a second adren renewal, CRITICAL during that last phase as I'm desperately trying to keep adren up to chain defensives.
So I got SUPER unlucky, don't let it put you (or anyone reading) off.. lol. Mine was at 844kc all solo. BUT it's a 1/150 in solos so it's still a great boss! I did, it's on a stream :) brb with the link Edit: Link: th-cam.com/video/zf8_0mUN3c4/w-d-xo.html :) I think someone commented the time of the drop below lol
Few days ago i got my 1st Kerry HM kill. But my killtime is MAD. Guess that just getting used to the boss. Whats the killtime to aim for tho? (Solo now 7:30/8min duo 5min)
@@InitYeah For whatever reason it does work on the clones. Normally I do a regular sun camping dw at the start of p4 but if you staff spec maybe I can spec and swap to inquisitor to make up for my dps loss not 4ta.
Does disruption shield and divert help in a similar way to reflect/resonance here with the obvious difference in effects or are they somehow not as useful?
Does the strategy change for duo? My bro and I have died 4 times already in phase 4 haha. Can get to it easy enough but we need to work on our defensive abilities
It becomes a bit easier, but the idea is pretty much the same! Hop in opposite side clones, then kill one each, then both help kill the middle one and then go to kerapac :) Remember to use devotion as your clone dies to extend it. But yeah practising defence use will help a ton! You will get it, keep at it! Gl :)
2:15 wait wait wait did i understand correctly that once i have the highest upgraded version of the pontifex ring that the luck effect of t3 luck is also made passive? Meaning i do not need the lotd relic power anymore to have t3 luck?
i just upgraded the ring 1 month ago and i have it in my bank and kerapac does not stunn me but obvs still deals melee dmg edit: fully charge and overcharge are 2 different things btw
Could you make a guide on ranged please ? I've seen you and others use crossbows and it looks like you're throwing darts and hit 6 times rapidly. It looks like a lot of dps but don't understand it. Thanks
That ability you are talking about is greater ricochet :) - it hits the same target 7 times when you have the caroming 4 perk. When you see someone using darts BUT they are using crossbows really, that is just a weapon override skin!
Due to nerfs in the Ring of Death since init made this, it could possibly make this boss harder for you. Possibly would suggest for people to use a ring of vigor or something.
I've been using range with bik arrows lately at hm kera. I get much faster kills than with mage with dual seismics and full cryptbloom but p4 is pretty stressfull.
Disagree tbh; normal mode is accessible for lower levels and still has some good drops. It's for 2 different sections of the playerbase, making it relevant to everyone not just the endgame. If you can do the hardmode variants, then yes it's pointless to do normal mode (unless afking or something), but if you can't, it isn't just written off as a boss. I like that they did this.
