I've always found that good guitarists are not necessarily the talkative type. Maybe it's just me, but I've been playing for a really (really) long time now and it occurred to me early on that in this mess of a world, we all need to find a voice. I personally believe that without a good way to communicate emotionally with other people, there's really no point in living. Being a guitarist helped me find that voice and overcome the depression I was stuck in. As I watch and listen to this, it brings me back to that realization and it's quite comforting. Thank you for doing what you do and don't ever stop making music.

Agreed. Since I can't sing or play 20 instruments, it really forced me to find my own voice through guitar to the point I struggle with trying to play other people's material and am fine with it. It got me through a lot of tough years and it makes me sad for all the time I've neglected it or failed to connect to other musicians to expand on it.

I started playing in'68 as an escape from dad. But all I did was covers of old folk songs. It wasn't until I came across Andy that I started into the creative process. Not to diss people who are in cover bands, but playing other peoples music was harder for me since I could never quite match the original. Creating makes more sense for me. And I find I want to be heard. I'm 58 and started a small(very small) recording studio for my own music. All because 1. My dad was a raging psychopath and 2. Andy Othling

Dude for the last three years I've been coming back to this track. It's so emotional for me but in good way. I Love you and your willingness to put yourself out there. You're a Light in my universe, brother.
Edit: it's the end of 2023 and I'm still getting my soul quenched with this beautiful song. Thanks, Andy.

This is literally one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. Making me tear up just listening to it. It's beautiful creations like this is what life is all about. You are an amazing guitarist. I believe that an amazing musician isn't determined by how technical and fast they can play but how much emotion is put behind their music. Explosions in the Sky and Omar Rodriquez Lopez are two artists off the top of my head that have two completely different sounds but put sooo much emotion behind their music. Their music is so colorful and powerful enough to inspire and move people and impact their lives greatly. This falls under that category. Thank you so much for the post!

he's using 3 delays as well, they all can be used for something different. What really makes the blue sky neat is it's plate shimmer mode. Pile the conventional reverb from the Boss RV on there and as you've heard, you can get some lush sounds.

Lorenzo Antonio Dominguez Flores With a house music machine, you can't use your fingers for the feel. But house music can convey feel if you push the right buttons at the right time (and the feel is all done by composition). But with a guitar you have feel at your fingertips and composition.

Never heard anybody complain they have too many pedals. ;) If ya haven't seen it, check out Strymon's channel. They have an in-depth BlueSky demo where they cover the plate/shimmer function. It's a unique effect unto itself, and for me, may be the biggest reason for choosing it over others in it's price category. Reverbs or delays cascading into one another is a big part of getting those big ambient swells. Just so many options out there. Our wallets tend to be the only obstacle to creativity.
