LEGO Dance Bot with LEGO Education SPIKE Essential 45345

This week we are trying out a new set from the LEGO Education Spike family, the SPIKE Essential (45345). Our initial thoughts are positive and we think that it is a good replacement for WeDo 2.0. The lack of simple machines elements is a bummer, but the addition of color sensor and the color light matrix will add more playability on the set.
We like it so far and are looking forward to create more models to share.

Hello! my son built this dancing robot and followed the instructions but everytime he codes it the robot keeps on falling apart. We went step by step on the build but it keeps falling apart. Would you mind adding the coding in slow motion or even step by step?

Hi! For this model the tricky part will be the connection of the leg with the motor. If you look from the sideview the red axle that connect both (motor and leg) should be straight, aligned with the LEGO Studs. Also the height that it’s connecting to the leg is very important, too high or too low will make the dancer falls too much side wards, and end up tip over. Once the model is stable, he should be able to dance on even the highest speed of the program blocks. Double check the placement of the motor and the connection of the legs should solve the problem.
