I appreciate that your videos are genuine. It’s nice to watch something that someone puts only themselves doing it, and not a big fancy production. Stay true, man!
Taylor Jordan - Thank You, I love reading a comment like this! It’s motivation to get out and do more. I prefer it simple and where I can just be myself. What makes it better is knowing that people are watching it and sharing the experience with me. I will always stay true, always have. Thanks!
After watching the National News covering the "Peaceful Crazies of Portland" its nice to see how the rest of the state is beautiful with normal people!
N4shark - haha yeah I used to say I lived in the Portland area but now I just say Damascus. I don’t know what is wrong with people around here but those crazies definitely don’t represent the rest of us “normal” people. I was surprised to hear Portland brought up on national news today 🤦♂️
You should really do some more research. Protests here were very largely peaceful till the feds showed up. Things have been escalating every night due to the feds use of force on protesters trying to use their rights to protest peacefully. I can share with you videos of a vet getting pepper sprayed for literally yelling at one of the feds. People are angry because they are taking away our right to protest peacefully. I’ve attended a couple of the protests and I promise you the protesters are not the ones instigating violence.
N4shark only 10% of all the protests have resulted in violence of some sort, and sadly the protests are needed for change to really be made in this country. Don’t let media skew your perception of what’s really going on
Its dog tracks. You can see the nails were part of the track. Cats nails are retracted when then walk. Still gets your attention though for sure. Moutian lions are around up there.
Northwest Oregon Fishing - thanks for the info. I had actually just learned about them walking with their nails retracted after getting home.. makes sense. I was/am curious if that always holds true though, since I don’t know, and it wasn’t covered in what I read. Would terrain ever dictate that? It makes sense if it’s flat terrain, no need for the nails out. But what if it’s on a steeper muddy slope? The bears don’t bother me but I sure as hell wouldn’t want to come across a mountain lion
I went out to a spot by Mt. Angel. Was enjoying, what I thought was solitude. I had to climb down a rope to get to this spot. 30mins into casting, a dog comes out of nowhere and begins approaching me. I freaked out! Luckily it was there with its owner and ran off after I splashed some rocks in the water. For a second I thought I was a 411 report. Now I know to take some sort of protection when going out.
PNWHookSet - haha that would be sketchy until you realized what it was. Definitely should have something. It doesn’t have to be a gun. I have multiple things. Sometimes a whistle or air horn is good enough. Anything is better than nothing.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW got myself a survival kit with this essentials. Been thinking of taking my bow and arrows for shooting and protection too, but I'll be that guy, ya know. Ha
PNWHookSet - nice! Haha I’m sure every piece you get together gets you more excited to get out there. Bring your bow, who cares what anybody else thinks. You wouldn’t be “that guy” they would for being judgmental.
Nice work Nick. Nice to see vids like this. As a fellow Oregonian I also want to thank you for the many videos out there. They pretty much taught me how to fish!...gotta to get some spinners off your site soon!
Brian Petersen Thank You, the experience was amazing and I really enjoyed putting this video together considering it was so different from what I’m usually editing. I will be doing a lot more like this. I love hearing that ANY of my videos have helped someone out! That’s what it’s all about, sharing the knowledge so others can have a better chance. I’ve learned a lot from the feedback that I get from all of you as well. The inventorying is blowing up, the next update on the website will be crazy. I’ve been getting things ready for coho and the fall run. Thanks for the support
What a great video. Awesome editing work and AMAZING scenery. Appreciate you keeping it real and all of your videos have provided small and big nuggets of knowledge. Keep doing what you love, your passion comes through.
M SN - Thank you! This was a lot of fun. I’ve never put so much effort into putting something together. Always makes my day to know that any of these videos have helped someone out, whether in a big or small way. Thanks for watching and for the kind words. All of you keep me motivated to get back out there
Great work, Nick! I've watched a few "catch and cooks " with other anglers, but the preparation you put in to this was amazing! Thanks for the hard work, and thanks for your service.
PNW anglers - Thank you, this was so fun. It definitely gave me a bunch of ideas for more videos. Thanks for the feedback! It’s motivation to get back out there.
Michael Elkins - it was pretty amazing. That first day zapped a lot of my motivation. I feel like I always catch fish, and most the time I just let them go. Go figure that when I NEED to catch fish, it’s a struggle. I’m heading back to that first lake for some redemption!
@@AnglingAddictsPNW right!! Thats how it goes it seems like, there has got to be some giant bows in there doesnt look like it gets alot of people pressure
Michael Elkins it’s not an easy place to get to, I could see why there was nobody around. Oh man if I could have been in the middle of that lake I would have been killing it.
KlamHammer - Thank You! Makes my day to read that. I had a lot of fun and these are the types of videos I’d like to be doing. I just didn’t know if anyone would bother watching them or not. I already have more trips lined up! Can’t wait to get out and do more. Thanks for the feedback and support, it’s greatly appreciated
Great video, really underrated channel. The quality is really good. When you said "Its weird being out here alone" I was like "What? You're not alone... Oh wait you are Im just watching a TH-cam video!"
Thank you! i look forward to doing a few more videos kinda like this over the summer... possibly bring my dog as well. lol it's funny you say that about not being alone... because in all actuality i was, but what helped me was imagining the people who would be watching this video and "sharing the experience" with me.. I think that's what i like most about these types of videos and why i will be doing more
Jeffrey S. Green - Dynamic Photography - Thank You! These are the types of videos that I’d really like to be doing. I had a blast. I’ve never put so much emphasis on the camera work and editing...Thanks for noticing. I can’t wait for the next one.
Fish and Forage - Thanks bro, I basically spent 18hrs straight getting everything together and edited. I’ve never put so much effort in to a video before. I could have worked on that for a week lol. Seeing how this turned out, now I’m going to have to up my game for all videos to follow 🤦♂️ it’s more work but I like the finished product more. I just saw your message on IG. I am going to put my load out list on the description page. I went through most of it but that breakdown was pretty quick. An easy to read list with some links would definitely help. I will answer your question on location shortly as well but you named the big lake
@@AnglingAddictsPNW You missed your tent and backpack! I'll check back when you have the list. :) Also that area is great. So many potential places to explore!
Thanks for teaching me what a lighter is. Seems handy! 😂 All jokes aside, great video! I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I certainly need to start doing more of these types of adventures!
Samong Yang Outdoors - lol I always enjoy a little sarcasm, I had to throw that in there. Figured it’d be a good transition into the gear breakdown. And Thank You very much Samong. I enjoyed every moment of this experience (now being home and looking back at it). Your content is pretty amazing. I don’t watch much on TH-cam but your thumbnails always pop out. Your photography and videos are on point! Keep it up! I’d watch a video of you out doing this any day. I was just recently checking out your vid where you packed in your raft. I loved the cows haha. Samong the rancher 🤠 Thanks for watching!
Thank You, this was a first for me and a ton of fun. I have a few trips planned for this next year. I can't wait to get started. Thanks for watching. I hope you like the rest of the content!
jplayball - thank you, this was definitely an interesting trip and a great experience. I’ve done multiple days before but I’m usually sleeping in my rig. Hopefully you can get a chance to do it sometime
Haven't even watched it yet but do more of these please! Lol I knew you loved fishing but didn't know you were down with adventures. Ever need adventure buddy let me know. I know some pretty crazy spots!
Jay Broad - I am ALL about adventures and prefer doing videos like these. Hopefully this video gets some good feedback because it will definitely be motivation to get out and do more of these. I am always cool with having an adventure buddy! And there are so many places I’d love to get out and explore. New areas are always fun. Let me know what you think after you’ve watched the video.
Watched it at least five times now! I know exactly where you were. One of my favorite areas. When I saw that butte behind you on the second lake I knew you were gonna catch some fish.
Jay Broad - haha thanks man! I love that whole area! That butte is a dead giveaway for anyone who has been out there enough lol. I was pretty happy to see plenty of fish ready to bite.
Beautiful in the forests of Oregon. If you get the chance try the Jefferson Wilderness areas. Last year was my first time in that area for Arrow Corps. (BSA) We restored a bunch of trails and stayed in some spectacular locations, Specifically Duffy Lake on the Lava Lakes trails. Have fun!!!
John Raetz - I absolutely love it out there! I will definitely look into the Jefferson wilderness area and Duffy lake. I’m always open to new locations to explore. Thanks for the info and support!
Courtney Clark - Thank You so much! It makes my day to read that. I’ve been trying to improve the quality. It’s always nice to know when someone notices. Your support is much appreciated :)
Thank you, this was a lot of fun. I plan on doing more videos like this but will be doing them a bit differently. i look forward to getting back out! I'm glad you liked it.. It was such an amazing experience
Thank You :) I love comments like these. I think i still have a few kinks to work out but i feel like i'm finding my groove.. thanks for watching and for the feedback
I thought for sure after you opened up that first fish you kept and seen all the bugs and a dragon fly on there you would mimic that on the fly rod, great video and I am now a new subscriber, look forward to more vids
I totally would have but that area isn't the best for the fly rod with all of the trees around. I was catching little trout left and right on flies from the kayak on the other side of this lake during a different trip, just wish there was a bit more spacious bank access. Thanks for the sub. I'm looking forward to a busy year of stepping up my game. Thanks for watching
Shawn Realty - Oregon Real Estate Company - Thank you, this was a lot of fun and the first time I’ve done a video like this. I think I will be doing more like this and implementing more underwater camera shots. Thanks for watching!
Angling Addicts PNW Thank you for making these videos. Your local area videos are really encouraging me to get out there and do more fishing. I’m really bad at fishing, but I do enjoy it whenever I’m out there.
Bugs: Dryer sheets pal. I rub it around the face & neck and let it stick out under my hat. Works every time on many types of biting insects. I thought everyone knew this. Bullet weight: next time take split shots, easy to put on and take off, less weight. Did you buy those worms?? take power bait. Bobbers are a must when lake fishing especially those ones that you fill with water. Fly rod also a must good to see. Always a good idea to take a friend when going bush. Two water bottles might have been a good thing. A link for some of the things your using will be a fine thing. Good video pal, loved it ..
Maurice Brown I will have to try out the dry sheets. I’m sure I’ve heard of it in the past but never applied it. I’ve always just used spray.... or nothing. All the exact proper gear definitely would have made it easier but since a ton of my gear got stolen, I wasn’t about to go buy extra stuff, just went with a few odds and ends laying around. I did buy those worms though and didn’t want to resort to having to use power bait. It was either going to be a fly, worm or spinner. I couldn’t make it too easy for me. I like a challenge. I only brought the one bottle because I knew how much water was around me along the way and didn’t want any extra weight. Just what I needed to get from point a to point b and then refill. I totally understand the bringing a buddy part but I’m weird in a way that I need that potential danger every now and then.... probably comes from my time spent overseas in the military. My pistol will stop a black bear so I’m not too worried about them. It’s cougars and mountain lions that concern me. Bringing a buddy along still makes it a 50/50 chance, either there is an attack or there’s not. The only difference of having a buddy is that chances are one of us shoots the cougar during the attack and has a story to tell while the other probably dies from the attack. I don’t do much without making a threat assessment first but having a buddy WOULD definitely put me more at ease simply because we’d be making more sound as opposed to me walking solo. I intentionally put my poles and tripod directly behind my head and neck on my backpack since that’s where I’d most likely be attacked by a cougar... I appreciate your feedback and continued support Maurice. Thank you
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Sounds good! I really liked the look of those three trout you caught. I've been dying to get out and get me some nice looking fish like that. I fished on Clear Lake (too windy that day) and went to Trillium Lake but there were too many people to social distance. You know I have never gotten the chance to thank you for your service to our country. I know your channel supports vets and I find that very honorable. Enjoy your day! Laurie
BenBJamun - Thank You! The experience was pretty awesome and it was fun to put out some new content. I’m sure I will being a lot more of these. Thanks for watching!
BenBJamun - that’s awesome to read because that’s how I’d like all of my content to be. It makes for a better experience and I really feel like that experience is being shared with all of you. Lol I’m still cracking up at how fast I crammed that fish down
I never really thought I would be interested in fishing videos but this was really entertaining and your vibe is amazing, i loved the entire video! The scenery is so beautiful and it's refreshing to learn new stuff :)
Celine - Thank you so much 😊 This was the first time I had done a video like this and wasn’t sure what to expect from viewers. This was such a great experience! I’m really glad I decided to do it. Again thank you 🙏 it’s comments like these that put a smile on my face.
Dude, I've watched almost all of vids, but this was far and away my fav. The BIC lighter comment made me chuckle. Hit me up if you're ever around Philomath and you want to fish for searun cutties or Newport south jetty.
Cat Missile - thank you! This was my favorite to put together and the experience was pretty amazing. Haha I had to throw that in there. I wasn’t about to pull the fire starter back out. I will definitely let you know. I’d like to get out as much as possible and really want to start fishing with those of you who want to get together. One of the days haha. Thanks for the support, it’s greatly appreciated
Nolan Moore - lol I thought of that too. I realized I ALWAYS have one on. I think I went without in one of my tutorials videos but otherwise I usually have one on. I finally cut my scraggly hair so it’s nice to not wear a hat lol
Angling Addicts PNW I love watching your tutorial videos, they have helped me out a lot. I’ve recently gotten into different types of fishing and haven’t had much success yet, I know it will come in time. From learning about jetty fishing, to salmon and steelhead. You’re videos give me an itch I can’t scratch until I’m out on the water. Don’t know if you have done or are willing to, but let’s meet up one of the days and go see what we can catch.
MrN0body - Thank You! I’ve never put so much effort into a video. It makes my day to read this. I think there will be a lot more of these in the future
I'm stuck in freaking hot humidity in Arkansas and your fly fishing mountain lakes...... I am jealous brother. I love hiking and fishing those. Good to see Oregon while I'm gone.
jeff h - This trip was insane! I had so much fun. Never done anything like this before but I see many more trips in the future. It felt really good to have a fly rod in my hand again. Glad I could entertain you bro. Let me know when you are back in town. Have fun in Arkansas. Haven’t been there since I went to PEC
@@AnglingAddictsPNW I am on my way home. Let me know when you go, I would love to do a video behind you. And I told you that Klymit recon pad was bad ass. Been using that since C co. So worth the $. Frog to clear lake is a good one. I gotta take you to a better spot to get your fly arm back in shape. Got a beautiful spot you would love. Hope to see ya soon.
jeff h - good to know you are on your way back. I’d love to have you come with on a trip and do some of your own video as well. Anytime spent with you is a good time bro. I’ve got a few more areas I want to hike into as well. And that pad rocks! I should have picked one up a while ago. I went back to bi-mart and grabbed one for tanya as well. I definitely want to do more fly fishing! Wish I had more space at that first lake. I want to bring a small raft up there. We’d catch fish every cast!! You wouldn’t believe the amount of fish jumping. I just couldn’t get to them. Safe travels. Let’s get something in the works
I was turned off from the skin as a kid and haven’t really gotten back into eating it.... though I think I will have to start doing it again, especially for times like this.
Hahahahaha. I think everyone who was in the military got a sleeping system and a few extra field items. I got out 20 years ago and still have my whole sleeping system. Even the gortex cover. 😂. Amazing trip. Enjoyed the whole video.
Adventuring the PNW - haha I don’t even know how I ended up with one not on record. Even the flashlight was acquired. Nobody wanted them when we were in Afghanistan because they thought they’d have to be returned. I ended up with 3 of those, mounts up nicely on a rifle too. This was a pretty fun trip. Im going to head back to the first lake with the proper fishing gear for some redemption lol. Thanks for watching. I enjoyed being able to put together some different content to share. I’m going to start doing more videos like this in the future for sure. I appreciate the support bro!
Such an awesome video! Love all of your videos, but this reminded me of one of my favorite shows growing up survivor man. Always been a dream and goal of mine to go out into the wilderness with minimal gear.
Eric Munoz-Garcia - thank you! Like Les Stroud’s Survivor man? I love any of those survivor shows. I’ve always wanted to do the same. That first night alone was pretty amazing on the lake. Plan it and get out there and do it. The experience is amazing. Thanks for watching and for the support. I will be back out and at it soon.
Angling Addicts PNW Ya Les Stroud’s survivorman. It always felt way more organic than any of the other survivor shows. He always emphasized keeping morale high which is super important. The theme is evident in your video as well when you catch and eat that first fish lol. Keep up the great content! As for me I’m open to the idea of trying something similar this summer.
Hot Rods Rock & Roll and Good Times - Thank You, this was a lot of fun and a lot of editing but I enjoyed every second of it. I’m glad to be able to share the experience for those that may not be able to do stuff like this.
Hey I love your videos man, I stumbled upon you a few weeks ago. Anyways wanted to give you a quick tip when you're hungry, eat the fish skin, it has fats and oils you want for energy when you're out there.
cause im an idiot lol.... i kicked my self in the a$$ for that all the way until i actually caught some nice rainbows on the other lake. I was SO sure i was going to be catching fish left and right
PNWHookSet - This was a lot of fun! I sleep in the back of my rig for multiple days all the time but never out in the middle of nowhere. I can’t wait to get back out. Getting your load set is key. I always lay everything out then start picking out what I really don’t need. It’s easy to overpack. And usually if you forget something it only happens once lol, especially if it’s a crucial piece of eqpt. I may do one with the bare minimum and not even bring a tent.. we shall see haha. I love the PNW
@@AnglingAddictsPNW my man, you're going all naked and afraid on us! Lol Before you know it, we'll be seeing ya on nat geos. "Alone". The new things I've invested on were a small portable stove, a life straw and fire starter. Gave the stove a test run in my lates video and dont regret getting it. That 1st backpacking trip will meet its maker. 🤙🏾
dropper bottle full of straight chlorox (not the off brands) WELL LABELED AS SUCH!!! For camping. 2 drops per quart, shake well wait 10 minutes. Potable & safe. Never mind all the overpriced miracle straws/filters. Love the spinner/hoochie/wedding ring lures you put together for my order. Dyin to use em up at Klamath.
Jim Mascaro - I will have to give that a shot as well. I know it’s safe I just don’t like the idea of drinking chemicals.... let me know how those spinners work out for you. I can’t wait to target some salmon and steelhead again. I’ve just been off doing random things lately.. thanks for the support Jim!
Katadyn Pocket Microfilter, expensive but you're not drinking bleach or any other chemical which is kind of the point of a water filter along with filtering out other bacteria, etc.
Luca Finazzi - Thank you! I was kicking myself for not picking up some new bobbers. I had some nice sliding bobbers but somehow they were cracked. I had two to choose from to take on this trip haha. I’m sure it would have made a HUGE difference. I think I may pack in a little raft next time. That lake was LOADED with fish, I just couldn’t get to them from the bank with all the brush around. Thanks for watching and for the tip!
Brandon Warren - Thank You! Ya I don’t bring it up much. I think the only giveaway before was my disabled vet license plate that you can clearly see in a shot on one of my lingcod fishing vids. I appreciate the support man
Angling Addicts PNW you said you had a military sleeping bag that you “ acquired”. Any ways bro thanks for the videos, I think this one was your best for sure.
Brandon Warren - yeah it’s always nice to realize you have something extra that’s not on the record lol. I forgot that I mentioned “acquiring” it. I really appreciate it. I put a lot of work into this one. It’d suck if it bombed
That was nice! I think i know where you were. Hey Nick, gotta tell ya. I was at Detroit on Thursday. I was the only one catching fish! I caught a 19” rainbow, on my ultralight with 4# test. I owe it all to you! This old gal has been fishing all her life, but you have taught me sooo much! Thank you!! Oh, and i just went to bimart and got myself a new ugly stick 😂
NWHomesteader - Bi-Mart better give me my share of that sale 🤣 it makes my day to read your message. Nothing makes me happier than to hear that ANY of the content I put out helps someone be successful. I enjoy sharing what I know as well as others sharing their knowledge with me. That’s what it’s all about! 19”?!?! That’s awesome! I love finding the big ones, they are always a fun surprise. I almost drove to Detroit last weekend with my girlfriend but figured it’d be slammed with people. I usually try to get out during the weekdays. Thank you for the support 😁
Angling Addicts PNW i was amazed how few people were there. We rented a pontoon at the Marina. There were very few boaters... there wasn’t even a line at the boat ramp at the state park. Yes, your content makes a difference!!!!!
NWHomesteader - wow now I kinda wish I had gone. Stopped at a few lakes while I was out with my girlfriend and couldn’t believe how many people were lining the banks in the mt hood area. Sounds like you had a good day. I’m going to have to get back out there
Great video Nick, definitely more of these would be awesome. Avocado oil, that’s the good stuff! 😂 a lighter called bic ....good one. Loved how clear and beautiful that underwater footage was, nicely done 👍, honestly it’s been the best I’ve seen so far among the channels I follow! Stay safe out there with them bears & 🐾 😳... thanks for sharing your adventures.
Stephanie Navarro - Thank You Stephanie! Oh ya I was happy to find myself some avocado oil to bring :) Lol Oh the lighter, I had to edit out a quick second of me laughing at what I was doing. I’m heading back out in hopes of getting my cameras underwater more, hopefully be able to capture strikes and bites. We shall see how it goes. I saw how clear it was on the footage and immediately thought “I’m going back” It means a lot to hear that. This vid was a lot of work but I enjoyed every second of it. I will definitely be doing more like this! Thank you for watching!! :)
Angling Addicts PNW - gave me a good chuckle, had to play it back “wait what did I just hear, did he just seriously explain that 😅.” BIC owes you commission now 🤷🏻♀️ just saying. That place seems to be perfect for underwater footage. Look forward to more like it. Which is so awesome to see when it’s done in clear water... at least in my opinion. I dislike the dirt water footage - but it’s no biggie though when it’s there :) I just forward through it. Lol...but that’s really more of a me issue with bodies of water kinda thing, long story 😬.
Stephanie Navarro hahaha I had to throw that in there... BIC and Bi-Mart both owe me :) I was amazed at the underwater footage when I first saw it. I’m the same about dirty water footage but to each their own
ohnoitsmichael - no I did look at both those lakes on google maps earlier and they seemed too green colored, though I know the images are from late summer. I’ve never been up to those before. Is the fishing decent on those lakes? And thank you! With the feedback I’m getting I think I will plan more videos and trips like these. I had a blast!
Andy L - lol I wish... it’s funny how long I sat there after letting that fish go contemplating what I’d just done. I think it was a hair too small and I’m not about to eat a fish that is undersize on video haha... I was being careful and would have eaten it in a heartbeat. I really didn’t want to bring something with me for “just in case”. I think putting myself in that position was more enjoyable for me, having to rely on succeeded
I Acquired all kinds of random stuff over the years lol. That case doesn’t have an NSN on it and though it’s shaped just like a Pas-13 case, it has a divider inside and a an/pas-13 would never fit in it. We did have some mortar guys with us and some commo but this definitely doesn’t go with anything 11B that I can think of
@@AnglingAddictsPNW fyi, when you reel in while a fish is pulling drag you are putting a lot of twist in your line. Same thing if you close the bail by reeling instead of flipping the bail by hand, it puts a half twist in your line every time you do it.
Rick Green - thank you. Ya that method is soooo much easier. I wish I’d known about it when I was younger. Haha ya the no food or water definitely made was some motivation to not fail. Thanks for watching. I’m definitely going to be doing more of these
I think so. It doesn’t have an NSN number on it so I can’t be 100% sure, but someone did mention it before. I think I grabbed it out of a bunch of stuff that was getting tossed during a deployment. I’ve used it for everything haha
@@AnglingAddictsPNW oooooh ok my last deployment that’s what we used to keep a cleaning staff for the 60. Definitely a good grab I’ve never seen anyone use it to keep rods and reels in.
Love your videos man! I was stoked when you got that rainbow. Also how you gutted and skinned that fish was pretty nifty, I’ve never seen it done like that before thanks for sharing that. Quick and clean. Keep the vids coming!
Thank You! lol seeing the bobber go down and come right back up AGAIN!!!!!.... oh i was so happy to catch those fish. I love eating fish cooked with the skin still on but that technique for gutting and de-skinning IS pretty awesome. i ripped off a couple of fish heads before i got it down right lol. Thanks for watching. I cant' wait to do more of these in different settings. i'm pretty sure the next one will be at the cost
Meltingfrog - really? I was so happy to find those few. I think they were getting more sunshine than the others since they didn’t have much interference from overhanging tree branches or anything. Maybe they are ripening quicker due to more of a mild winter. I know I’m going to head back up there and pick a bunch pretty soon 😁
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Yeah man, I was out by the Cedar Creek hole and saw several bushes and about three weeks ago on the valley side of the lower coast range I found fully ripe blueberry bushes already. Gonna go out soon and pick a bunch for a wild huckleberry/blueberry pie.
I might be late to the party Nick, but paw prints with claw marks are canine, and without claw marks are feline. I'm assuming you know what a bear print looks like. Cool video buddy.
Bravo 4 Adventure - yeah I learned about that shortly after getting home. The one on the left was a different print than the one on the right. Would big cats still keep their claws retracted if they were going through mud like this going up hill? Oh man this was fun.. lol oh ya I know what bear tracks look like and know to never follow them when you know you are walking towards a dead end 🤦♂️
Alex Butler Thank you! I had a huge grizzly come up on me in Alaska. Bears scare me but cougars and mountain lions are my concern. I feel like I have a better chance with a bear. Cats come out of nowhere and go straight for the neck.... no thanks. I felt more comfortable with my bag on and the poles popping out of the back. Lol as soon as I saw the bear I dropped my bag. No dead weight for this guy haha
Alex Butler - haha I don’t ever want to see a cougar when I’m out.. you know they are there and that’s sketchy enough. I’d imagine once all those berries start to ripen the bears will be around more. That is an awesome and plentiful food source out there
Alex Butler - wont be fishing the sandy this weekend. I usually don’t do as much salmon and steelhead fishing this time of the year. I can’t stand all the people out on the water so I typically avoid it and go do some other type of fishing
Angling Addicts PNW yeah a lot of people are out and about especially in the early mornings ...i don’t where to fish anymore I feel like I have been up and down the sandy and can’t even get a bite 😔
Have you ever fished Tumble lake? I’ve been thinking about hiking up there and giving it a go. Probably just some little trout in it but they are still fun to catch!
Bodie West - I haven’t. I did see it when I was searching around on google maps though. I may check it out before the summer is up. I want to explore as many of those places as possible. With all of theses little lakes around it’d be nice to be familiar for a good number of them. The more options the better!
Eugene Gordin Thank you Eugene! I found that bag when I was in Afghanistan in some stuff that was going to get tossed out. I thought “ fishing poles” the moment I saw it. This was the first time I’ve ever used it. Pretty glad I grabbed it. I haven’t seen much like it around here. It’s really convenient. I will let you know if I run across something like it
@@AnglingAddictsPNW thank you for the quick response! Will have to try find something online or...make myself :) That would be a cool item to manufacture btw. I saw you have your online store ;)
Eugene Gordin - that little case was so convenient. I can’t believe I hadn’t used it for carrying rods until then. I’m sure anything like it would be speedy. Shouldn’t be too hard to make something like it. Haha oh man, I had just started getting some spinners together and don’t even have a storefront yet. I cannot believe what it is turning into now. With coho fishing right around the corner I’ve been building up the stock so I can have more free time to be out fishing
@@AnglingAddictsPNW yeah, running any kind of business is A TON of work. However, there is nothing more satisfying than making something with your own hands especially if your product is giving so much joy to the people using it. I'm a software engineer and I do not get even a fraction of joy I used to have when I did woodworking back in the days. So keep it up man, you rock!
Things that can kill me are always on my mind :) I figured i'd come across a bear before anything else, especially after seeing how many berry bushes were around. I plan on trying to get back up to that first lake this spring/summer to explore around a bit more
S Davis - it would be really cool if they were. They basically eradicated most of the predators in the Mt. hood National Forest back in the 40’s... apparently they have been starting to make a comeback. There are only 124 documented wolves in Oregon as of last year.
John Bakken - I will look it up so I know what it looks like. I hardly know a thing about fly fishing but after this trip I remembered just how enjoyable it was. I feel 100% more connected to everything around me, and getting that fly to land softly and where you want it takes patience and practice. I will definitely be doing a lot more fly fishing now. Thanks for the tip.
Bravo 4 Adventure - thanks! I like this style and seemed to be the best approach for getting 3 days into a shorter video without any confusion or gaps in the “storyline”
Just found your channel and watched your 7 day trip through my old stomping grounds. This looks like a place I took my wife before the burn. Memaloose??
That 7 day trip was a blast! I wasn't planning on a trip that long, which is why the intro is incorrect when i say however many days it was going to be. I was having too much fun to go home. Sorry for the late reply, i must have missed this, but yes, this is all past Estacada. I haven't been around since the burn. I'm curious how things are going to look out there. kinda sucked to wipe that area out of possible places for me to do videos for a while. There are still a lot of places i'd like to hike into..
@@AnglingAddictsPNW go find shining lake, off of Indian ridge West of high rock. If you know the roads around the Timothy lake area you have a good chance of finding it.
Rocky does it all - thanks bro! I hear ya there. I think I’m going to do a longer trip pretty soon. Being alone on that first lake was so amazing. I want more
@@AnglingAddictsPNW that would be epic bro!! Kayak was a bit much but a micro inflatable might get you some deeper water for bigger fish? But definitely craving that Wilderness adventure.
Rocky does it all - honestly I think I may just pick up a tiny cheap raft for like $40 and put it in my backpack. I’m definitely going back to that lake. I’m pretty sure if I just sat there in the middle and threw out a fly, it’d get hit every time. I’m planning on throwing a camera underwater considering how clear these lakes are
Your Local Angler - it’s not..... but I did want to go check out twin lakes. I was right there but then cut down through the forest heading towards Detroit/estacada. Have you fished twin lakes before?
@@AnglingAddictsPNW I have, on my fly pole use any brown caddis or any brown dryfly and you can catch brooke's all day I'd be glad to take you and film
Your Local Angler - awesome! And good to know. I’ve been wanting to catch some Brookies. hit me up on my email so we can stay in contact and see if we can make something happen.
Birdgrabber Man - I’m glad to be getting the feedback from all of you and everyone has said most likely dog so far. There are black bears and cats around so regardless of the tracks, caution is very important out there, especially alone. Thanks for the feedback.
Birdgrabber Man - thank you, this one took a bit more work to put together but I really enjoyed the experience as well as being able to put this video together. I think I just set the bar a little higher for myself :) Thanks for watching
“It’s called a lighter and this one is made by a company called BIC.” 😂😂
Daniel Christianson - as I’m trying to maintain my composure and be serious lol
That's what the news focuses on. Most people are out trying to stay away from others by enjoying the forest and weather. 🤙🏾
@@lucasdunster2729 hows it going with day 102 of peaceful protest Portland sure looks great
N4shark only 10% of all the protests have resulted in violence of some sort, and sadly the protests are needed for change to really be made in this country.
Dude that was epic you for sure need to do more videos like this
PNW anglers - Thank you, this was so fun. It definitely gave me a bunch of ideas for more videos. Thanks for the feedback! It’s motivation to get back out there.
Yes Alone 1 in Oregon great video like it a lot.
Doodle Time - I must have missed this... oh man this was an amazing trip. It was nice to get away and just go explore alone
What a trip bud!! Way to tough it out man some beautiful scenery up there
Michael Elkins - it was pretty amazing.

Great video, man! I'm excited to take my own backpacking gear out soon! Your video quality is goin thru the roof! Keep em up!

Thank you
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Laurie Holycross - Thank You Laurie, this was so much fun and a great solo experience

This is so awsome I want to get out there and do these things also
It makes for a great adventure, as well as a learning experience.. it’s kinda nice to be “off grid” for a bit and reconnect with nature

when you through those fish back, I was like why the hell is he throwing fish back?
cause im an idiot lol.... i kicked my self in the a$$ for that all the way until i actually caught some nice rainbows on the other lake. I was SO sure i was going to be catching fish left and right
Yeah buddy! This is what the PNW is all about. I have some preping and supply building to do before I try one of these trips.
Gil G - Thank You! I’m glad you found the channel as well :)
dropper bottle full of straight chlorox (not the off brands) WELL LABELED AS SUCH!!!
Bro I love your content. You’ve really taught me a lot just watching your channel
Brandon Maynard - Thank you! It always makes my day reading comments like these. Glad to know I’ve helped 😁🎣
Good content. Maybe try to use a smaller slimmer bobber so the fish doesn't feel that much resistance and spit the hook so fast
Keep it up man. Thanks for the spinners.
Thank You! Hope they catch you some fish!
I didn’t know you were a vet Nick. Thank you for your service.
Angling Addicts PNW you nailed it man. Keep it up. I always enjoy watching your videos.
👍 Nice
I’m going to have to get back out there
Great video! Just fyi, that was Jefferson at the end of the video, not Hood
Oh ya I was happy to find myself some avocado oil to bring :)
Lol Oh the lighter, I had to edit out a quick second of me laughing at what I was doing. I’m heading back out in hopes of getting my cameras underwater more, hopefully be able to capture strikes and bites. We shall see how it goes. I saw how clear it was on the footage and immediately thought “I’m going back”
It means a lot to hear that.
I’m the same about dirty water footage but to each their own
was this at Warren Lake and Bear Lake?
Awesome video, man. More like this please!!!!
ohnoitsmichael - no I did look at both those lakes on google maps earlier and they seemed too green colored, though I know the images are from late summer. I’ve never been up to those before. Is the fishing decent on those lakes? And thank you! With the feedback I’m getting I think I will plan more videos and trips like these. I had a blast!
that was great ! should try for a week long adventure !!
Rob M. - Thank You! I will definitely be stepping up the timeframes that I’m out. I’d love to do a week long trip like this
Again a really good video Big 👍
Another fun video. When you let that first trout go I was thinking, oh man he definitaley has a granola bar and maybe an MRE for backup.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Sweet, I am sure them bones tasted as good as the meat.
What the name of the water filtration system your using?
Katadyn Hiker Water Purifier - amzn.to/32JEUhm
Nice video
Thank You, this was a lot of fun. I look forward to doing more of these beginning in the spring. I really want to do one down at the coast!
Acquired😆 is that a pas 13 case for the poles?
I Acquired all kinds of random stuff over the years lol. That case doesn’t have an NSN on it and though it’s shaped just like a Pas-13 case, it has a divider inside and a an/pas-13 would never fit in it. We did have some mortar guys with us and some commo but this definitely doesn’t go with anything 11B that I can think of
It could be mounting lion tho that is unlikly considering there were claw indents which is rare in mouton lion tracks
Love your videos man! With that being said, tighten your f'n drag, you're killing me lol.
Lmfao thanks, will do 🎣
@@AnglingAddictsPNW fyi, when you reel in while a fish is pulling drag you are putting a lot of twist in your line. Same thing if you close the bail by reeling instead of flipping the bail by hand, it puts a half twist in your line every time you do it.
Great vid! Good tricks to gut & skin a fish. Whoever talked you into no food or water, they owe you a cold one.
Rick Green - thank you. Ya that method is soooo much easier. I wish I’d known about it when I was younger. Haha ya the no food or water definitely made was some motivation to not fail. Thanks for watching. I’m definitely going to be doing more of these
Is that a 60/81mm mortar cleaning staff bag?
Your a mortarman haha! I saw the cleaningstaff bag
Lol I’ve got all kinds of gear from the military... mortarman shoot... I was 11B Infantry
Is that the little green one?
Huckleberries seem to be ripening much sooner down lower and towards the coast this year. I've seen several fully ripe bushes already this year.
Meltingfrog - that sounds DELICIOUS! I’m definitely going to be taking advantage of the resources this season
@@AnglingAddictsPNW They make some of the best pies I've ever had. A bit tart and not overly sweet. You should definitely get after them. :)
Meltingfrog - haha as soon as you brought it up I was thinking yep I’m making that too 😋
I might be late to the party Nick, but paw prints with claw marks are canine, and without claw marks are feline.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Yeah buddy, they keep them retracted most of the time, which keeps them sharp. Better for climbing and catching prey.
Bravo 4 Adventure - very good to know, thanks man
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Heck yeah buddy...don't become prey! hahaha
Were are you near Mt Hood?
Oregon Outdoors - yeah that whole area is close to mount hood. There are a TON of lakes all over the place. I found these by looking on google maps
What a beautiful video !!! I would have not been there if the bear was around ... brave man.
Angling Addicts PNW yeah i don’t know what I would do if I saw either 😅 are you gonna hit up the sandy this weekend ?
Is that Odell, lake in Oregon, sure looks like , it to me,,
It is… I want to go back and give it another shot!
Angling Addicts PNW right on! When I go up there I leave a comment on another video about how it goes
Bodie West - sounds good, thanks! And good luck when you do get up there
Great video, man! Love your channel! Where did you get this fishing rod bag? I was trying to find something similar with no luck. Thank you!
Beware if your in the berries thick . Your i August that’s when the bears are more active
Things that can kill me are always on my mind :) I figured i'd come across a bear before anything else, especially after seeing how many berry bushes were around. I plan on trying to get back up to that first lake this spring/summer to explore around a bit more
There Wolf tracks!
S Davis - it would be really cool if they were. They basically eradicated most of the predators in the Mt. hood National Forest back in the 40’s... apparently they have been starting to make a comeback. There are only 124 documented wolves in Oregon as of last year.
Get a damsel nymph on that fly line. Thanks for the content.
Hahaha, dude I just got to the part "these things are called lighter" hahaha
Bravo 4 Adventure - you know me bro, I have to throw sarcasm around whenever I can hahaha miss you man
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Miss you too bro, keep it up. I kinda dug the vlog/chronicle style here.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW go find shining lake, off of Indian ridge
West of high rock. If you know the roads around the Timothy lake area you have a good chance of finding it.
I love this video, makes me want to just live there and not come back!😂
Rocky does it all - thanks bro!
I’m planning on throwing a camera underwater considering how clear these lakes are
@@AnglingAddictsPNW YEEEES! crystal clear lake footage!!😍
Gamakatsu octopus or drop shot hooks have a better angle on yhe hook to pin a fish than a regular j shaped bait hook
I'm no expert but I do live on the north Umpqua highway but is this twin lakes
Your Local Angler - it’s not..... but I did want to go check out twin lakes. I was right there but then cut down through the forest heading towards Detroit/estacada. Have you fished twin lakes before?
@@AnglingAddictsPNW I have, on my fly pole use any brown caddis or any brown dryfly and you can catch brooke's all day I'd be glad to take you and film
Your Local Angler - awesome! And good to know. I’ve been wanting to catch some Brookies. hit me up on my email so we can stay in contact and see if we can make something happen.
Nice vid. BUT THE SKIN OF THE TROUT IS SUPER TASTY!!
Bro I wanna be there... location please
You should try and collab with NorthWestFishingSecrets
We've talked about it a bit before but haven't gotten around to it..... life of a youtuber is a busy one lol
I kind of feel like this guy was inspired by NWFS which is good because he is Leif is cool
Possibly a wolf track, but definitely a canine track.
Nicely put together video. Smooth flowing and great scenery.
Defiantly wolf
wouldn't mind seeing one from a distance ;)
Do a collab with NW fishing secrets
Couv Boiz - we’ve actually talked about it. I think it’d be fun. Man he’s blowing up!! His channel just quadrupled in size over a couple weeks.
