I Built a 2 Billion Dollar Sphere!

  • I move my $2 sphere down to the pond to where it will spend the rest of it days - or will it? Which is better, the MSG 2 billion dollar sphere, or mine, which I built for $2?
I use re-claimed metal from a giant spool, cut and weld it into a mega big spool which is suspended from the forest canopy to create an extremely unique off grid forest house. In this episode, I work on completing the outside of the ball structure including the cabin door, coverings, hatch, and work through possibilities for inside finishes and waterproofing.
In this episode we carefully move the sphere from up in the pine trees, down to the pond where it will live out the rest of it's life.

"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
Many people ask me where I am from and where I film my projects. I am from Northern Ontario, Canada, and live in an area where off-grinding is easy because I have lots of land to build on and experiment with different buildings and materials. Everything I do is to try to be more self reliant, and to depend less on others. But that doesn't mean I don't like working together with other people on projects. Knowing people who have skills is part of being self reliant, and trading skills is a great way to get more things done!

I was kinda wondering the same thing unless they thought it wouldn’t hold the weight. Kevin the thought I had but it would be a pain to do but to get the rod piece to finish going all the way around the tree stumps underneath it is to lift it back up just a little, at least enough to get the weight off of them, and then maybe you can get the trees to push together a little more so you can connect it. Hopefully that holds once you put it on and then put the sphere back down.

Kevin, have you ever thought about making pine tar? You can use it as a natural wood treatment and also potentially as a fuel if you refined it a bit. You’d also get a bunch of charcoal as a by-product that you can use for the barbecue or possibly for a water filter.

Celsius to Fahrenheit - multiply by 2 and add 30. Example: 15C x 2 + 30 = 60F (approx.). A metre is 39 inches. A kilometre is slightly less than 2/3 of a mile. Wish US would adopt the metric system - it’s used in so many countries. 🇨🇦

A snatch block would double the winches power and take some strain off the winch line so it doesnt break on ya.. we use a snatch block most of the time and then just leave the winch hook hooked to the truck or tractor and grab the snatch block and drag the line out. That way its always easier on the winch ❤😊 ever snatch block basically doubles your winch power more or less

3 mm x 50 mm x circumference + 300 mm overlap of steal strip. Heat the strip with a blow torch so it fits like the metal bands around a barrel.
Lag screwed the metal ban to the each log of the base would prevent the base from spreading apart. As a precaution I would try to attach the ball to the base in several places to prevent the ball from leaving the base. Just because super strong wind hasn't happened at forest floor level doesn't mean it can't happen. Just saying is all.

In the future you could have school kids go on a field trip to see all the work you have been doing, that would be an awesome life experience for kids to lear how to live off grid and such. You could could charge the school if you so desire and I’m sure adults would love to go and visit your property also.
