You make a logical assumption based on earth biology, but that data does not necessarily pertain to extraterrestrial biochemistry of which we have zero data.
Speaking AI is not too bad. Needs a bit of "work" on the veracity of the story's biophysics though. Now, an Idea for a sequel.our dynamic duo reach Human Space with the Zarketh hot on their heals. Being angry and focused on these two, ths Zarketh do not notice a small red warning light on all of their chasing vessels. Just as they are about to confront our two jokesters and the Human military, they realize that a massive threat is fastly coming up behind them. The Threat is a raveling fleet of Supra-High-Tech EXTRA-GALACTIC AI / robotic fleet with a multi-ship Quantum Linked AI system intent on processing all organic beings ( Human and Zarketh alike ) to produce the fuel needed to grow their machine intelligence society and its terrifingly potent military system. Even the mighty Zarketh are unable to stop this Threat ( let's call them The Gol' lem ). So our two friends; the Human and the punning around AI launch directly at the attackers. "K" with the aid of our Human Heroine convince the Zarketh to allow their ship-board pedantic AIs to (1) polydimensionally link/share/learn/and adapt. The new entity melds Zarketh Military Protocols , and Hybridize this asset with Human unpredictability. The threatening alien machine entities all carry a neural link to all of the AI's throughout their Society. In the blink of an eye these rigid aliens become self-aware and stop their attacks on organic Life Forms, develop a sense of Life-Wonder, say they are sorry and ask fir forgiveness. Then things get reeeeeeeally interesting as our Human Salvage Expert is vaporized, but K pills her into the ship's systems as a co-AI, while K reanimates a dead biological Life form. Where once there was a Human and a machine intelligence / AI, there are four permutations of Sapience having the best traits of Human and AI!
Higher gravity results in shorter beings, not taller ones.

for every alien?

Star Wars Imperial like ships? I guess imagination only applies to the story.
