A fun urban coda to your wilderness adventure. You picked the same array of experiences that I did on my first short budget visit to New York. I can see how Central Park's landscape would offer a bit of transition refuge from New York's wonders. So many pretzels! Cool to see the digital walls and ceilings for the Empire State Building experience and thanks for pointing your camera up at Grand Central Station's amazing constellation ceiling.
It was nice that we had just enough time to see NYC. Pretzels are so good! You can’t really get them from home, at least where I live. I’d like to come back to explore more with more time, and money 😊
A whole lobster is a great meal. Its funny that, 400 years ago, the Pilgrims wouldn't eat them, even though they were starving. Good video. Good Luck, Rick
Loved your tour! Definitely a thru hiker tour always food lol Best to you always hope you had a safe flight home and doing well post hike. Thank you for taking us with you and seeing everything through your eyes. Beautiful eyes. Trail on! TnT class of 86
Hey-what a change of atmosphere huh guys? Experincing all kinds of changes, you are such a wonderful adventurer! So much to experience in this life and you really know how to go out there and do just that! I thank you both for this post😂❤🌍🙏
It really was a drastic change, but we did know to expect it. Still, quite the difference 😅 But it was nice to get to do a little road trip and to see NYC before going home 😊
Glad you had some time in my hometown. NASA must know NYC as you guys did the 'savvy' tour of Manhattan. Central Park was much better before the instagrammers blocked every pathway. Anyway, thanks for sharing. Hope you are recovering nicely at home.
It was so great that we had time to see NYC 🤩 Nasa has actually never been there before, but we have a hiker friend who lives there and they gave some ideas about the things to see (on a budget and with just a few days of time) It was wonderful 😊 And thanks, I am home and slowly getting used to “normal” life again, it’s an adjustment, but it’s also good to be home and see everyone I’ve missed while on trail 😊
I did a cross country bicycle trip from Seattle Washington to Bar Harbor. Tradition is you dip the rear tire of the bike in the ocean on the west coast and the front tire in the ocean on the east coast. I recall dipping the front tire on the boat ramp you showed in your video.
Oh wow! That’s a long trip!! Amazing! Fun that I managed to film the same ramp, I was fascinated by the way the water churned and receded each time the wave hit it.
I completely understand wanting to see NYC while you were so close to it but can’t imagine how bad it must have smelled especially after walking in the woods for over six months. Hope you had a nice trip home and enjoyed a nice sauna.
Haha! 😁 it wasn’t that bad. Well, occasionally yes, but not most of the time 😄 I did have a nice trip home, slept most of the flight and had my mom and stepdad pick me up from the airport. Had my favorite meal from home straight away and yeah, sauna! 💖
We must have been at Bar Harbor at the same time. I took a boat ride and bought some little presents for my grandkids there. It would have been funny to run into you and NASA there!!!
Oh! It would have been fun to see you there! Boat ride sounds nice 😊 Did New York get in contact with you by the way? I gave him your number when we saw them.
@@thruhikerintraining5867 I did not hear from New York. I am bad about not answering phone numbers I don't know but if they leave a message I call back. Thanks
It definitely was a huge difference, but we did know to expect it tried to prepare for it 😄 Still, especially Times Square was a bit much with all the people and lights and noice! Though it is beautiful in its own way. Bar Harbor was soooo pretty, I’d love to see it on a sunny, warm summers day again 💕
Yes, that’s defensively I thing I want to make! It’s going to take quite a lot of time and planning though, so I’m not sure I fast I’ll get it done. But it’s going to happen 👍🏼😊
Nice video to end the trip. I kinda miss your daily updates. Good to see you are putting up some shorts now. I'm curious if you have had any adjustments to deal with since the trip was over? Some report having a hard time getting back in a normal flow of life. I hope things have gone smooth with you.
I do have some more videos planned, I’ll see if I can upload about one per week. But can’t make any definite promises about the schedule. Yes it’s absolutely been an adjustment to go back to “normal” life. I did go almost straight back to work and in a way it helped. But also I was still jet lagged and also very much not completely present in my mind. It takes a while to kind of land back into the reality of normal life. My mind was still in the forests of Maine for a long time even though my body was already back to Finland 😄 And I feel quite restless still, and of course I miss my friends from trail so much! I don’t quite miss the hiking just yet, and it’s been good to let my knees and feet get some rest. But I known that will come as well.
@@thruhikerintraining5867 Most thru hikers speak of an adjustment period after a hike. Some handle it better than others. You sound like you are getting to a good place. Take your time on future videos. We will be around. I would be interested in hearing how your gear held up and if you would do anything different in that regard. And many that visit the US do a good, bad, ugly, video of their impressions of this country. Would be nice to hear your thoughts on that. You took your trip at the right time. I'm hearing and seeing many trails closed after the hurricane came thru. Hopefully they will be open next spring. But in places it will take a lot of chain saw work. And I'm still not sure of damage done in many of the towns along the way.
Oh yeah sorry, I think I wrote it wrong. Or misleadingly. English is sometimes still difficult 😁 So Nasa of course flew back to his home state and I flew back to my home country.
@@thruhikerintraining5867 Your English has been great. Even fluent speakers can’t find the right word sometimes. I was impressed by your vocabulary. How long have you studied English? I was hoping that meant you were both going somewhere together.
Wonderful Fall tour! Loved it!
Thanks for sharing! Quite a drastic difference from the trail.
It really was 😅😅
Thank you. Interesting to see what happened after Summit Day. ❤❤❤

Whatevet a great road trip video.👏🌲
A beautiful and yet bittersweet ending to an absolutely amazing adventure!! ❤️🙌
Yeah, agreed! Luckily there’s more to be had 😊💕

Thanks so much ☺️
Yes I had a good flight and am doing well, though it’s taken a while to get used to being back home.
Nice that you got to see NYC before flying home. Congratulations once again on your completion of the Appalachian Trail!
Thanks! 😊 Yes it was good to see it, since I skipped seeing it while on trail. It’s quite a city 🤩

I would have felt like I was on a Time warp. Going from trail to New York. 😂 liked Bar Harbor Maine stop.

Nothing parties like a rental - have fun - did I hear you say, "That's a big ass pretzel?
I did say that… 🤭😆
enjoyed watching all of your walk ...well done from Wales.
Thank you! ☺️💕
I am confused. So far as I know, U2 live in different places. The end of your video said “we” . . . “had to fly back.” Where did you fly to?

Ihania videoita😍🤩. Nytkö videot loppuu?
Kiitos 😊 Ei vielä lopu, mulla on vielä ideoita joista haluan tehdä videoita ☺️
