    Found your video in the reviews on hf website. Thanks for showing it in action instead of just blabbing away for hours and hours!

      Thank you. It really has been a good sander and I will get many more years out of it. Thanks again for watching.

    Hey, Gene. I've had one of these for at least 10 years now and despite much use (and abuse) it's still working just fine.
    I think that provided you accept it as a hobby level machine, it'll serve you just fine!
    Cheers, Roy.

      Hi Roy, I totally agree. If you take care of it it will last a long time. But it is not an industrial too. Thanks so much for watching.

      Same here, although mine was made some forty plus years ago and yet still out-performs many other sanders for durability.
      They just don't make them like they used to. 👍

    Great review. I wondered about durability. The videos of it in use really helped. Thanks

    When I bought tools for my business, I usually bought Dewalt...they were tax deductible for business use. For home use, I've bought several Harbor Freight power tools and been very happy with them. I have a router and hammer drill, that are at least 15 years old, and they've held up well. I think for hobbies, their tools are just fine and you don't have to spend a lot of money!🙂

    @DIY Gene - I purchased a MultiCo belt/disc sander (visually identical to your model) mine was manufactured back in 1989. It's been a reliable little workhorse and has never let me down, despite all the abuse I've given it over the years it chugs on un-serviced apart from a bit of oil to stop the tension spring squeaking. Over time I've made a few of my own attachments too for specific tasks, like knife sharpening that requires repeatedly reproducing precise angles. I've had other larger models, but my little MultiCo is my go-to sander for hand finishing most small projects. Thanks for sharing. 👍

    I've had mine for about 2 years, no problems with it. I do wish it had a variable speed, but I hooked up an old ceiling fan variable control and it works just as well.

      I still use the heck out of mine. My only complaint is the location of the vacuum port is under the belt and awkward to get to.

  • @TG626
    @TG626 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've been happy, tho it needed help out of the box.
    Mine the plastic shield for the disc (which you have removed) came predeformed and needed unwarping with some heat.
    I also had to drill new holes in the base for one side of the motor so I could move it far enough to get the belt *tight* enough.
    Out of the box it was so loose I could stop the belt with my bare hand and the motor kept on running. 😮
    As of 2024 it appears to be discontinued. A shame as its replacement, while it seems better made, is also twice the price.

    • @DIYGene
      @DIYGene  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow, twice the price. Glad i got mime. I had to adjust the belt out of the box too.

    12-15-23 This one is on a Christmas sale for $79.99. Thought i would see some reviews to compare this to the Bauer one. I'll be doing just some light stuff in the garage. Little wood and some light car work. Most seem to like this one. For this price I'll go see if the local store still has any.

    I have had this sander for years. It's okay, but if you have the space and budget, I highly recommend skipping this machine and going right for the Ridgid oscillation belt/spindle sander. I found mine used on CL and since I got it I've only used the HF belt sander once.

    4-23. This machine is being discontinued. The replacement is a Bauer brand. $84 on clearance for the old model. I bought another one and I'm keeping it boxed until my current one releases the electrical mystery smoke.

  • @3dtexan890

    I have this same sander but the belts keep breaking on me. I DO NOT have too much tension on the belt and I DO NOT push my work hard against the belt when sanding. I believe these warrior belts are junk, at least that is what I determined.

    • @DIYGene
      @DIYGene  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had similar problems with my hand held belt sander until I stopped using warrior belts. They are crap.

  • @jerryburgess9524
    @jerryburgess9524 ปีที่แล้ว

    My gripe is the motor needs to be more powerful. You can't put much pressure on the piece of wood you're trying to sand or the motor bogs down.

    • @DIYGene
      @DIYGene  ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried adjusting the belt tension? That helped mine.
