    Bishop you made this conversation make so much sense. I was trying to figure out how we benefited, but the way you explained it makes perfect sense to me. It's amazing we're crying about what happened during slavery, but our ancestors went through it on our behalf and would trade place with us with no complaints especially knowing what they went through during slavery!

      This is the most intelligent comment I heard on this topic. Everyone else seems to be on board to returning back to the plantation. The African already had skills prior to coming to America. This is why they were chosen to come here. Wooden needs to stick with preaching the bible and stay away from politics because he's going to lead black people back to the plantation and teach folk to be humble and allow people to be Narcissistic and allow abuse. It makes me wonder if Mr. Wooden has some Narcissism within him to support an abusive curriculum such as this.

    I'm 7 minutes in and I hate to say it but Bishop is deflecting...YES, those slaves left slavery with skills and YES God was good to them but what about the systems that stripped slaves of their human rights? What about being counted as 3/5 of a man in comparison to white counterparts? What about the violence enacted against formerly enslaved people when they DID put their ingenuity to use? What about acts of violence like what destroyed Black Wall Street?
    What about the fact that America has never repented for slavery because many of the systems remain in place. Mississippi was the last state to officially abolish slavery and that came in 2013, if I remember correctly. These Republican talking points ain't it, Bishop. I'm with you on a lot of other topics but this is not it.
    If I keep reading, those people Joseph invited to join him in Goshen were enslaved and as I read the Bible, I see how God dealt with the people that dealt with them treacherously...Yes, we're all under grace but grace ain't whitewashing what we have the power of policy to fix!
    I say all of this as a brother in the faith and a fellow yokeman. I'll come back and watch the rest but at the 7 minute mark, I had to stop and comment...

      Next time. Listen to all of it before you comment! We live in a fallen world is going to always be good and evil. You got two choices to be a forever victim, or turn a negative into a positive by having a work ethic and a determination to do your best your short time here on Earth! You obviously have some racial issues because you can see everything wrong white man has done. But I notice you didn't say nothing about the black people who sold us into bondage in the first place! Mankind Has Fallen of all Races. When Africa starts to send reparations checks then we'll start to be on the right track. Oh and as far as those Israelites being put back into bondage once they had a pharaoh who did not know Joseph! God sent Moses case closed

    • @whoisfredwillis
      @whoisfredwillis ปีที่แล้ว

      @@franklawrence2918 I'm not a forever victim but thanks for your reply. As far as Moses goes, remember how they were FORBIDDEN to stop telling the story? You get that part? So, since white and some black America are tired of hearing about it, they'll choose to change the narrative...that's not gonna work!
      Also, blacks had patents and inventions stolen. Black people were killed for even running for office. Black people couldn't go to school then when school opened for black people, they didn't have up to date information. We have ALWAYS been a people who overcame...that's the idea of black history month.
      This isn't an issue that's going away and neither will this conversation. I just think that black people have to have a little more fortitude. We're obviously tired of talking about it, but that doesn't mean that we side with the oppressors. I'm a believer and a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, race and racism continues to be an issue those who name the name of Christ struggle to truly put under subjection...that is from which my comment emanates. Have a good day, brother.

      Thank you. Unfortunately I think he’s deflecting is intentional. The Florida board of education is not trying to highlight the resilience, bravery, and fortitude of african-Americans. They are trying to rewrite history; and the final destination is to remove the evil and atrocities of slavery and racial discrimination, perpetrated by white Americans in this country. It is detrimental to all because as the Bible teaches when history is not learned from. We are destined to repeat it’s mistakes.

      @@mistweety25 The way Pastor explains it is correct and it’s different from DeSantis and what the teachers are pushing. Both curriculums are wrong. Florida states that - Slavery wasn’t so bad, but that’s not true. It was 100% Bad & Evil, but it was God’s Grace that gave the poor Slaves and Joseph the grace to turn EVIL into good, because only God can do that!! The teachers are wrong because they’re trying to secretly push in all the fake trans and queer message onto the students. Everybody else get to have their history taught in a more accurate way, but both sides are not being fair to us! Black teachers know Black history has NOTHING to do with being trans or queer, and it’s so fake and fraudulent!!😢

    Pastor, the Florida Curriculum is different! Their emphasis is - slavery wasn’t so bad. The Slave owners evil hearts weren’t concerned about the Slaves taking their skills to use when free. Their Curriculum needs to place emphasis on what you emphasized. Through ingenuity the Slaves were smart enough to turn what the Slavers meant for EVIL into something good. Because the moral of the story is, the American Slaves and Joseph couldn’t retrieve any good out of such a disgusting situation, if it wasn’t for God’s help. Thus, the curriculum must be revised to emphasize their ingenuity, and NOT that slavery had advantages!!!🇺🇸❤️

    Now Bishop I love you to the moon and back ten times. When you preach I feel the Holy Spirit speaking through you. Yes! You are a man of God but, don't touch this slavery issue because you have not studied it well. Chattel slavery was the worst kind of slavery and black people are the ONLY race that experienced it. Chattel slavery's definition is severely brutal. It is when another human being has dominion over you. You are someone's property. It permeated many generations over a 200 year span. This form of slavery was the worst and it lasted the longest. God gave man dominion over the fowl of air, animals and everything else on the earth. Not over each other. We are made in his image so that makes it impossible to dominate each other. Joseph's brothers did not sell him into Chattel slavery. History has clearly defined the differences. On the positive side yes we gained skills and were able to market them but it took 200 years to get to that point where we could make soap for a living. I would have much rather my ancestors be treated fairly from the very inception of that institution by teaching a d training skills and allowing them to earn their way. There is a class system in this country that would have kept them down any. I rebuke chattel slavery and all of its demons in the mighty name of Jesus. We need to acknowledge it for what it is and the harm that it did. Chattel slavery did not help anyone. I agree with you on some points. We as a people need to move on. I agree with you about not looking back but we can't rename something evil as good. In summary, I will say this. We (black) folks can make it from this level. We should be well represented in every party and on every level. We can do that and still be peculiar constantly representing Christ. I don't have a problem with the conservative ideology. We can be conservative all day long. We can preach against abortion, homosexuality and everything but let's be clear while we are doing this CHATTEL slavery belongs on that list as well. God bless you Bishop, I love you and you have helped me a lot through your TH-cam ministry.

    Bishop Whooten is absolutely incorrect. May I remind you that the pyramids in Egypt were built by Africans. Historians are still studying how wonderfully crafted these pyramids were made. The Africans were brought to America because they already had the skills. They were not taught any skills. Secondly, so are you trying to tell me the only way you can learn a trade is by coming to a country beaten, raped and abused to learn a trade? White Europeans had a trade and they were not beaten and enslaved to get it. Black people stop saying amen to everything that comes out of the mouth of a preacher. I agree and respect Bishop Whooten, but he is seriously in error on this.
