I actually enjoyed odyssey as a game, but, in my personal opinion, I thought the world was insanely repetitive. The same exact forest in almost every part of the map. I had a lot of fun with the photo mode, of course, but it stopped being an original world halfway through the game for me.
I didn't think Odyssey's world was all that great _except_ for the absolutely gorgeous Atlantis DLC. The main world in Odyssey pales in comparison to its DLC.

I always love to go to Norway in AC Valhalla with the exploration music option turned to high. Just slowing riding your horse through forests at dusk or up on the mountains with that fantasy style music just entrances me.
Far Cry Primal is the one to beat for me, a great prehistoric world full of wildlife. And you can turn on survival mode which adds stamina/ sleep/ fast travel costing food. And it has limited lives modes and even a permadeath switch. Permadeath makes animal encounters super tense.
That list was like doing a 'top 20 most beautiful fighting games' and having Punch Out as the number 1. And considering Hunt Showdown was included here which is definitely not a game you can peacefully explore the wilderness I would've been more inclined to lean towards Far Cry 5 which is one of my favourite 'American Wilderness'-style games to explore :P

Although you're stuck in a vehicle, Snowrunner is also a pretty good nature exploring game, makes you go through places no other game would really allow too
Dragon's Dogma 2 is pretty fun to explore in. Sure, you have to deal with monsters all the time, but just being able to stroll through dense forest and find caves and ruins to explore is a blast. Not to say that the original game had no memorable sights, but it was pretty limited by its world design where there was usually only one path to each major location and rarely anything to find by going off the beaten path. Similarly, the Hyrule seen in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom is also pretty fun to explore. Graphics might not be everybody's cup of tea, but it can be fun to climb up a steep hill and survey the surrounding landscape, even more so in TotK where you now have loads of flying islands to explore and the dark foreboding depths to spelunk in
Ghost Recon Wildlands! I loved exploring the vast amounts of varying landscapes and climates that game had to offer, in addition to changing my camo to match those settings!

The world of Forbidden West, including Burning Shores, is probably my favorite game map of all time. To the point where I can’t wait to go back, even now. I also loved Zero Dawn and the Frozen Wilds DLC - such a great series of environments.
Valheim I feel like would be a great addition to this list, I love just walking through the forests and nature in that game with the peaceful music and fauna.
Eh, it relies too much on procedural generation. Imho makes things lose a bit of value or impactfulness. But each to their own, at least when you eventually realize the huge randomness.
Firewatch , Skyrim and Witcher 3 also deserves to be on the list, those 3 are probably my top 5 "nature" games along Ghost of Tsushima and maybe Shadow of the Colossus, AC Origins or Tears of the Kingdom.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is a wild 1 to me, first time i tried to swim to that island i saw very far away and ended up there after 5min blew me away, this game made me realize how good a open world can be but its a shame not many games have come close to it imo.

BOTW deserves a mention . Love just walking through a forest in Hyrule, listening to birdsong and the wind in trees. Also GR Wildlands/Breakpoint are nice to walk through between missions. Valheim I feel like would be a great addition to this list, I love just walking through the forests and nature in that game with the peaceful music and fauna.
And then a troll shows up from behind the trees and start chasing you
@malkaviian 😭 yeah and that too lmfao
Valheim is great. I like to find a nice little spot on the coast and build a little homestead.
Eh, it relies too much on procedural generation. Imho makes things lose a bit of value or impactfulness. But each to their own, at least when you eventually realize the huge randomness.
There's a dash...!
very proud of KCD making it to the list
It's also good to mention Ghost recon wildland, far cey series especially far cry 4 and 5 , Avatar the new game ,
A list that’s not filled with random gameplay to stretch it out and sticks to the point of the video, big thumbs up 👍
Avatar frontiers of pandora has more nature than nature. I guess thats why its not on the list😂.
Any Far Cry game could've made this list
Any ubisoft games could have made this list.
Except Farcry Primal. I spent too much time getting killed by everything to even notice any of the environment lol.
@@daveyjones18 BUT you can have pets and cuddle with them ... big bonus! ;D
Firewatch , Skyrim and Witcher 3 also deserves to be on the list, those 3 are probably my top 5 "nature" games along Ghost of Tsushima and maybe Shadow of the Colossus, AC Origins or Tears of the Kingdom.
No far cry games? How???😮
I've always liked Oblivion's nature setting, justing chilling while listening to the soundtrack😎
No Far Cry 5!??
FC5’s forests are incredible. You can almost smell the pine needles.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is a wild 1 to me, first time i tried to swim to that island i saw very far away and ended up there after 5min blew me away, this game made me realize how good a open world can be but its a shame not many games have come close to it imo.
AC Origins and Ghost of Tsushima were top notch on the exploration part
GoT had amazing graphics and good story but the exploration aspect was its biggest letdown.
@@Teo_-xl7uj yeah, the exploration wasn't good in GOT. But it was different.
I'd say odyssey in terms of exploration
Both amazing games
@@mohammadashikurrahman7530It more than made up for it in graphics because instead of exploring you’re just staring at the graphics the whole time, awestruck
wow there are some peak games in this video!
What... no Avatar Frontiers of Pandora?
Make your own list if that bothers you.
Ghost Recon Wildlands natural world was actually really nice, for me
A seriously underrated game you missed is Generation Zero. The map is absolutely massive. You can explore, craft, and build in the map. It also has a damn good environment. From forests to beaches, mountains, rivers, lakes, and more. Generation Zero was seriously underrated.
Boring game
Generation Zero is the same engine and same developer as TheHunter.
19:03 can confirm, currently playing it for the first time and man i am loving it, the environment is just so gorgeous 🥰
Far cry series as a whole! Far cry 5 had great visuals too.
I feel like avatar frontiers of Pandora is a great game with one of the best worlds out there. Absolutely stunning
Stranded Deep is beautiful. If you like Green Hell, you'll love stranded deep. Survival, building, crafting, etc but in an island/ocean setting. Also I'm surprised Skyrim didn't make the list. 🤷
I rememeber Stranded Deep to be very difficult and unforviging though, your mind is 99% on surviving and a lot less on admiring nature.
@@Lenariet that's true, at first. Once you've got a water still, a bed, a fire and a spear (for fishing) you can live indefinitely. You can get all of those things in about an hour in game. 😉 If anyone wants to play (I'm on Xbox) or has questions I'll gladly help.
Far Cry games could have been on the list, especially 5 and Primal
BOTW deserves a mention . Love just walking through a forest in Hyrule, listening to birdsong and the wind in trees. Also GR Wildlands/Breakpoint are nice to walk through between missions. Origins seems like a strange choice here (sounds like the reviewer had a fondness for it), but for nature lovers I’d say Odyssey or Valhalla were more interesting.
Nothing beats rdr2 as far as the feeling of being a part of a living world. Still blows my mind that nothing has really come close.
FarCry 5 anyone??
Beautiful game
was suprised to see it wasn’t mentioned
Underrated Farcry game in my opinion, I loved Hope County in FC5
Even Just Cause series is not here..
It's always the same games with them🤷🏽
I am gonna add Escape from Tarkov. May sound weird to you but those who played the game know. The nature locations in this game are made so well, sometimes I just find myself sitting in the woods listening to wind and birbs and dogs barking from distance, woodpeckers going ham.. Those who know central/eastern european nature will find themselves home in this game.
You forgot AC Odessy. You always forget it… 😢
