Had he wanted that kind of attention, he wouldn't have turn down roles that would have made him much more famous than he is now. I read that he turned down the role of "Jack Dawson" in Titanic, "Mr. Smith" in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and the vampire character (Lestat?) played by Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire.

The characters he played in these movies are more "normal" compared to the other roles he has played. The reactors might even watch some of these movies and see how great an actor Johnny Depp is.

johnny depp, despite being voted "sexiest man alive" twice, never really worked as an actor to look "good." he's a dedicated artist who's always willing and wanting to do eccentric or unusual characters. i've always been a fan. he's so handsome but didn't care for that... he just wanted to act. once i believe he said he wanted to make films his children can watch. he's also a musician and a painter. quite a unique man... once in a lifetime. to me, he'll always be handsome and i've always been excited to see what role he'd take on next.☺️

Because acting is not about looks? Honestly imagine if every handsome actor would play the same typical roles which is mainly a love interest in a movie. Acting is not about acting roles that make your face look good or whatever is about being someone you are not and interpreting that role. Honestly I'm glad Johnny decided to continue his career like that because we wouldn't have such iconic characters today or they wouldn't be the same.
When you ask people who was most handsome actor, they may say Brad Pitt, leo or someone else but for me Jonny is most handsome Hollywood actor from 90's

It would be cool if you showed the girls some clips to let them know his character a bit more. Johnny Depp is a very cool, calm character who has been described as weird, but also abnormally kind, funny, cool, and perfect by his fellow colleges. It makes him uncomfortable when he gets compliments about his looks, and he couldn`t give a damn about what other people think of him even though (I believe to understand) he has social anxiety. It`s very hard to describe him, but he is awesome to watch when he talks.
The man has to man roles to count, and with such a stage presence its hard to believe he wouldn't have more amazing movies from here on out. I love JD

These are the roles that made him epic and what he is today. I believe this is what an actress should have been, taking different dynamic characters and making the audience unnoticeable it's him. I was shocked when I noticed that he played the role of willy Wonka, the mad hat, and Edward, these were just so different. But somehow I wasn’t s as shocked because there were traces of his character, It's just that I wasn’t able to connect all the pieces of evidence until someone told me it was the same actress for the whole time. I'm very glad there is Johnny Depp who takes these crazy and demanding characters so I've had so much fun looking at these movies when I was young. I'm Chinese and I am really inspired and attracted to his temperament and the roles he plays. I don’t think it's weird at all because someone's gotta do the acting and if it's not him it would be much weirder. Just like the iron man its image just sticks to you.

Fear and lothing of Las Vegas, Ninth Gate, Sleepy Hollow, Blow, Ichibad Crane, From Hell, Secret Window, Finding Neverland, The Tourist, Transcendence, Mortdecar, Black Mass, Murder at the Orient Express, Minamata. And his newest movie Jeanne du Barry.
I would have told what the Lone Ranger movie was about and those others, since I dont know if those are known to younger people.
I would have also added Sweeney Todd, which is a musical and he sings in it. I would have added that he was in a tv series between 1987-1990 called 21 Jump Street (and also made a cameo at one of the newest movie version with D Tatum and Jonah Hill)

When Tim Burton was looking for an actor for Edward Scissorhands, the first guy that was on his mind was Tom Cruise. And Cruise looked up the role he was offered and simply rejected it, deeming that Edward Scissorhands was an ´ugly´ movie. Thus, Depp got the role and from there on its simply history. Also And Tim and Johnny became such a good friends and also liked each others work and understood each other... Johnny got a lot more work, especially in Tim´s movies. He has such a wide acting range. He wanted to act different characters and did not want to be that hot, sexy guy in every movie. I have always said that Johnny Depp is like a chameleon, he can do any role....

omg i watched nightmare on elm street as a kid and i remember this scene but only now i realized it was johney depp also i think i watched lone ranger but dont remember the entire movie , watched alice in wonderland too but i didnt recognize that was johney at that time , same with chocolate factory watch the movie loved that crazy character but didnt realize that was him atlast then i watched pirates of carriebian sea finally i was able to know all those were actually johney depp in different roles that i liked as akid or teenaager... i was blown away at once !.... hes such a talented actor... just awesome !
