So I’ve gone all in on Found North. I started with Batch 1 and 2, I’m about to receive batch 10. I’ve picked up every batch through 10 now, plus Peregrine, Helldiver and a couple of their single barrels. I’m working through them in order. I just opened batch 6 this week. I absolutely loved batch 5, but was blown away when I opened batch 6. It’s one of my favorites whiskeys so far in my journey. It’s gotten so much harder to get, but it’s all been well worth the hunt. So happy I started getting these in the beginning. Don’t tell anyone about this stuff. 😂
100% agree Jason. Got hit with Batch 3 and 4 blind and absolutely loved them, and Batch 5 and 6 are even better (with 6 being downright tremendous). Big, big, big Found North fans here.
Found North is pretty amazing stuff. Batch 002, 004, and new 006 are all incredible! Blind them and you'll see them stand up to almost anything comparable. Tried a binnys single barrel that was great too.
Good call on Bardstown Discovery series as an alternative. In that vein, Barrell Craft Spirits is also blending up some interesting stuff that might be similar, and closer in price to the Found North. Thank you so much for reviewing these two. I've loved Batches 3, 4, 5, and 6. I just picked up my first SiB from them but haven't cracked it yet. Cheers!
Canadian whisky done right! I kind of hate to sing their praises because the price and availability might get worse if demand picks up. I've got batch 3, 4, 5, 6 and a single barrel. Love this stuff.
Have Batches 003 and 004 as well as a Single Barrel. All are killer. Very impressed with what’s coming out of there. Excited to get Batches 005 and 006 soon. Cheers!
I have Batch 4 and really enjoy it, keep thinking about 5 and 6. Need to see how I fare on some upcoming barrel pick releases, but will likely be picking up one of these. Thanks for the great review.
@themashanddrum so my first thought when hearing about batch 006 is the Canadian version of Lucky Seven "TheProprietor" 14 and 15yrs. How do you think these compare?
When you said "dark honey" all I could think of was the Weirdo's from Portlandia standing in a grocery store asking a clerk "where do you keep the DARK honey?"
One thing that wasn’t mentioned… the batch 5 is 8 year wheat but the corn (73%) is 21 years old. Both these bottles are great. I don’t go deep unless its really good stuff. I have 10 bottles of each. Same thing I did with the batch 2. Good review. Easy buy here
I think the dislike for Canadian is because of the Canadian whiskey we get and see most often in the US... Crown Royal, Canadian Club.... no thanks. Like I hear about the interesting and different process they have north of the border, and I want to try some of it, but all I see is the mass-produced, proofed-to-the-floor, bottom-of-the-barrel stuff.
Jason, good reviews. I know you don''t normally respond to all the message, but I wanted to ask you. You compared Bardstown Discover series as an alternative. What would you say outside of money part, is the better bourbons overall? Bardstown vs Found North?
@@TheMashandDrum Thanks Jason for the quick response! I really got to buy the batch 6 that I saw in my local store selling for 130$ I was torn between 5,6 or any discovery series. Your palette is aligned with mine most of time so I will go with your comment :)
There are so many fantastic whiskeys between 40-75 bucks that keeps me from thinking something like this at 150 is going to give me twice the experience. This looks like a neat company though!
I'm a big Rare Breed and ECBP fan and completely understand how you feel. I took a chance based on reviewers I trust and bought Found North. These are a level or two above what you find in the sub $100 bottle range. These are among the best bottles on my shelf and I freely admit I'm a cheap bastard and buy based on value. I will be buying more in the near future.
Great review.....however, $125 for an 8 year and only $25 more for 9 extra years doesn't make sense to me. Would pay $150 for 17 years but $125 for 8 would be hard to swallow.
Love to see Found North getting the attention they deserved. Great bottles to bring to whiskey gatherings I’ve found, cheers!

Just opened the batch 5. It’s so good. Your tasting notes are 100%
Found batch 7 the other day and it absolutely blew me away!
Good call on Bardstown Discovery series as an alternative. In that vein, Barrell Craft Spirits is also blending up some interesting stuff that might be similar, and closer in price to the Found North.

Batch 006 was absolutely dynamite to me... A perfect winter warmer. Picked up a bottle of 005 last week, can't wait to crack it open.
Canadian whisky done right! I kind of hate to sing their praises because the price and availability might get worse if demand picks up. I've got batch 3, 4, 5, 6 and a single barrel. Love this stuff.
Love the M&J Found North pick. It’s very interesting the way they do single barrel picks. Cheers 🥃
You did a great job on Bourbon Pursuit!
I agree completely. Both are great, but the dark flavors you get on that batch 006 are right up my alley. I love what Found North has been doing!
Have Batches 003 and 004 as well as a Single Barrel. All are killer. Very impressed with what’s coming out of there. Excited to get Batches 005 and 006 soon. Cheers!
Ya I think if you like batch 004 you’re going to love batch 006! Cheers!
nice review. I have batch 3,4,5,6 and a few single barrel picks including the M&J pick all good drinkers.
Thank you, Jason....Your pick and Batch 6 were AWESOME !!!!
I have Batch 4 and really enjoy it, keep thinking about 5 and 6. Need to see how I fare on some upcoming barrel pick releases, but will likely be picking up one of these. Thanks for the great review.
Those both sound amazing! I loved that FN M&J pick. Thanks for the great review.
Just pulled the trigger on Batch 6. Looking forward to trying it out.
Great review! I just picked up batch 5 & 6. Looking forward to trying these two bottles.
is there a list anywhere of bourbon only sold in kentucky ?
Man... they both sound delicious! Found North is definitely on my radar lol 🥃 Cheers Jason!
I found Found North Batch 6 for $115. I haven't opened it yet, but it is on the "list."
@themashanddrum so my first thought when hearing about batch 006 is the Canadian version of Lucky Seven "TheProprietor" 14 and 15yrs. How do you think these compare?
Haven't tried any Found North yet but have batch 007 and 008 being shipped to me now. 008 was just released today, but have you tried 007?
When you said "dark honey" all I could think of was the Weirdo's from Portlandia standing in a grocery store asking a clerk "where do you keep the DARK honey?"
To be fair darker colored honey has a whole ass different flavor than lighter colored honey. That said, your skit sounds hilarious
Finally got to try the M&J Found North Single Barrel - really fantastic. Haven't had any of the shelfers yet, little too punchy of a price for me.

Haven’t been able to find this stuff in Alberta
The closest thing I've taste to Found North Batch 006 is Penelope 15 Yr American Light Whiskey

proof and wood good day might be a good comparison

That's a good question....I think the American whisky from found north batch 6 is better than the last couple discovery releases. At least to me.
@@TheMashandDrum Thanks Jason for the quick response! I really got to buy the batch 6 that I saw in my local store selling for 130$ I was torn between 5,6 or any discovery series. Your palette is aligned with mine most of time so I will go with your comment :)
Loved the 6 better than 5 in my opinion.

73% of it is 21 year old whiskey
Ahhh missed that part...makes sense now. Thanks
Luv
Eh? 😂
That's not Canadian, we all do not speak that way.
No thanks. As a Marine, I only buy American and only drink Bourbon. We don't run from battle. I don't even eat French Fries! Lmao.
Respect!
To be fare they source from Canada but are an American comp out of Massachusetts. Whistlepig and others do the same.
