I am an Indian and I haven't tasted all Varieties of food that India has. Not even 10% of it. And trust me, that's a lot. I am visiting kerala next month where I am gonna try chilli soda which I've never heard of before..

Yeah...India should not be famous for it's butter chicken and naan... almost everyone says this...they all talk about chicken and meat...There are many different varieties of vegetables that we eat but people never promote them...just because they have been killing for their own bellies...Even tribal people don't kill that many animals...
I am not against non veg...but it's time that we start promoting good food which is not vegan but vegetarian... Vegans are just a mess made out of non-veg people...
Only heard this on Geography now channel.. first time someone outside from India praised Palak paneer and that too became one of his favorite dish...

Actual real life Goan here. Goa is different from the rest of India cause of the huge Portuguese influence and we are 25% Catholic here vs ~1% nationally. So meat is pretty popular here, even beef!
Our staple food though is rice, curry and fish since we sit on the Arabian Sea.

Cuisine in India is as diverse as it”s people. Fun fact: the flavour of food changes every 250 kms in india. India has a lot of non vegetarian food but there’s a beef ban in certain parts of the country since consumption of beef hurts the religious sentiments of certain communities. Do include #Hyderabad in your itinerary since you’ve not tasted the best cuisine if you’ve not been to #Hyderabad, famous for #HyderabadiDumBiryani, #Haleem, #PattharKaGhosh etc. among other delicacies. #Coconut is used extensively in #SouthIndian and #Konkan cuisine and pretty much as a base for certain masalas. #Kerala celebrates the coconut! It’s in almost everything... if not the coconut itself, at least coconut oil. #Rachel better watch out!

    Happy Holidays!
Curry is NOT an ingredient. You can't add it to a cooking vessel. You have to create it using spices and/or meat and vegetables. It is a type of food. It is much like the word stew, which describes a dish, usually having a sauce or gravy that comes from the juices of the main ingredient plus spices and water. Just like you don't add stew to anything, you don't ADD curry to it, you create it. There IS a particular type of leaf called curry leaves that is used in southern Indian cooking, but not in northern Indian cooking, yet both regions cook curry dishes. The word turcari is used in many Indian languages also.
There is a restaurant in Mumbai that has nearly 25,000 Indian recipes in their computer. That's just that restaurant. You could eat a different dish for every meal, 3 or 4 times a day there, and not repeat a dish for 25 years. Then you go elsewhere and be surprised and pleased by the food there.

But today it is across the coiuntry and lots of taste blending has happened .with vvv good taste..
In India nearly 45% people are pure vegetarian. . 55% non vegetarian but, non veg also use lot of vegetarian food at least one meali is veg only.
I think India has lots of veriety in veg and non veg food prabably thousands of combinations.

We get beef in India. It mostly depends on the political party that governs a particular regions with it's ideologies. Like the Northeast and the east mainly Calcutta and Rachi in some places we get beef so does Mumbai and Goa on the West and other parts too which I'm not very familiar with.
Also it depends upon the population of a place. Certain places have more of the vegetarian menu cause of the people living and it's difficult to get access to meat of any kind and certain places it's the exact opposite.
