I came here to watch this video after seeing your IG post. I don’t understand the problem. The very definition of a review is to take a product, use it and tell people how it worked for you. Which you did in a professional and honest manner.
Thank you for the honest review. This is why I enjoy your channel. You give fair reviews of products. Everything is not going to work for everyone. Thank you for being you!
Taren: As a regular TT channel viewer, National Class class age grouper and Multiple time Team USA member, I think that your review of the Lever Running System does a real disservice to the Age Groupers your UTube channel serves. Your review was off-base in so many ways. You barely explained the product’s purpose and the science behind anti-gravity running. I noticed that when you used it, you actually set it up backwards and failed to attach it to your treadmill properly. (Quite honestly, a pretty simple thing to do, this is not a complex product to set up.) I personally have used the Lever to maintain running fitness and hang onto a competitive run while recovering from severe plantar fasciitis, high hamstring tendonitis, and multiple less serious running injuries. It is an invaluable training tool when used correctly. Especially for older runners and triathletes, as well as any athlete who is more prone to injury. Given the huge amount of time you spend on the Channel pushing sometimes unproven supplements and other means of improving health, fitness, and endurance training, I am surprised that your review was so careless. Over 40% of runners will suffer from an injury in any given year. Many of us entered triathlon as a way of staying active, maintaining a steady diet of endurance training and dealing with running limitations. Anti-gravity treadmills are well-proven state of the art training equipment for many world class athletes-runners, triathletes, soccer players, as well as most college sports teams all use them regularly. I have used them too. They work. Very well. Having used the Alter-G treadmill many times, I can honestly say that the Lever Running System, which costs a fraction of what an anti-gravity treadmill costs, is equally effective and comfortable to use when it is used correctly. Taren. I love your site, even though I occasionally find some of the things you push a little silly. Given how serious of an issue running injury is to your followers, and the proven efficacy of Anti Gravity training in getting thru it, as well as the pretty quick and widespread adoption of the Lever among many professional runners and Triathletes, i would ask you to take a more serious look at this great product. There is huge upside to the endurance training community in finding inexpensive and easy access to equipment the pro’s use to maintain fitness, recover from injury, or avoid injury altogether. Your followers deserve a more thoughtful and complete review of a product that could really improve their running. I can speak first hand. It has done so for me. Taren, your review was solid! If the company wanted a good or better review, I would recommend they improve their product. Looks like a total POS to me and not worth $100 let alone over 1k! Hold your ground and send that equipment back. Definitely is an awkward piece of gear with not much thought process on it was manufactured!
They had a similar machine at the sports medicine clinic at the university of Toronto except the belt was the top of a big air bag that inflated around the treadmill. I think that was AlterG. One time I was in the clinic and soccer star Jozy Altidore walked past to use it.
I could see this being helpful for runners that are a lot heavier that just need a little less load on their joints to get in more miles or maybe recovering from injury but still want to keep running.
Wow, I thought this was a prank. But it’s a real product. “Jack hawk 9000” I don’t see anything here that would allow a run to keep their normal form, definitely injuries waiting to happen. Im glad you give honest reviews. Thanks!
It’s not an honest review. He set it up wrong and put the entire system on backwards. It’s actually an amazing product if you know how to read the instructions.
I've seen something like this before and I think the concept is good. I think chaffing might be the biggest issues. I'm not going to lie, I totally want to try something like this with my busted achilles. Thanks for reviewing the product Taren and giving us your honest feedback!
The LEVER is really great for all types of injuries (tendon, muscle, bone stress injuries, etc). Taren didn’t set it up right (he set it up completely backwards). I would not give his review even two cents.
In similar products I have used, I ditched using shorts for a lot of reasons. In the end, I switched to climbing harness. I ordered about 6 different versions of climbing harnesses and found one that worked the best. Climbers have years more experience at building devices for supporting full body weight ... much less a small percentage of your body weight as used by the device. I also use various length bungy cords attached to adjustable heights to make micro adjustments to support vs. pressure (this includes how narrow or wide you make the connects of the bungee cord to adapt to arm swing preference). The best bungees are made by boat part manufactures because they are designed to sustain long periods of stress in very hostile environments. This adds more consistency in strength thus reducing loss of elasticity over time. In general, the product has its limitations that over time I am sure will be developed to a high level of efficiency... but, that still doesn't invalidate the product as it is now. This and similar products were and are primarily used for therapy. And, all training at some point requires therapy. So, there is a place for this sort of product. Therefore, it is like all devices. There is a time and reason to use it ... as well a proper way to fit and adapt to the need... regardless of training or therapy.
Been using something similar to help recover from a torn meniscus and other running injuries for the past 4-ish years.. Therapists use it for injury situations. Works well but not cheap. In my instance, I use a climbing belt instead of shorts because it provides better support and you can try different type of climbing belts to get best fit and adjustment plus simple to put on. Type used is Lightspeed lift. BTW... that has WAY to much wiggle and give in the support structure and I don't see much way to adjust where the cords attachment locations can be centered on the support sections.
The Boost gravity treadmills are awesome if you are recovering from injury. You can usually book sessions at local physios for about $20 for thirty minutes. Search your local area. That looks like a toy.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 I guess you have to at least try it.....🤣😂🤣 the pants sound fantastic! I love how polite you were. 🤣😂🤣😂. I was having a bummer of a day. Thank you for the laughs! $1100 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣. So good!
Thanks for the review. This looks like a total fail. Running/walking in the shallow end of the pool got me through an injury. It's tougher than it looks!
The system is only a fail when you set it up completely wrong, which is what Taren did. The Lever is a fantastic product to help maintain some running fitness if you’re injured or for those looking to supplement some of their mileage for something with a lighter load!
...could help. Versions of this device have been used by PT's for years. This is especially true for special need children or a person with visual impairment, balance or inner ear issues. Exactly how much help depends upon how much support is needed. For those with issues that may cause some sort of fall, the type of mechanical device that have a frame support and chest attachments ABOVE the person are best.
Did you ever try this out again. I see several comments saying it was set up backwards. I am coming back from a broken knee and once i can start walking again i think this might be helpful
You’re supposed to undo the Velcro BEFORE putting the shorts on (which he didn’t do). Would also help to actually put the system on the treadmill the right way, and not backwards 🙄🙄
It is similar. Using the Lever system is closer to actual task of running on land, but lets you run at a decreased percentage of your body weight (and you can modulate it), which is really helpful for tissues that may not be able to handle the full load of 2-3x your body weight.
As someone who hasn’t tried this, I’m glad you gave an honest review. It’s a chance for the company to adjust their product to make it more user friendly. Thanks Taren!
Word of warning, the set up of our product was done incorrectly and in a dangerous way. The unit was put on the treadmill backwards, the support straps were not fastened to the treadmill arms correctly, and the shorts were put on without first releasing the velcro. These three things are very dangerous and could lead to injury.
Given the less than flattering review based on his complete misunderstanding and obvious lack of research about the product prior to use it would be only appropriate that he publicly apologize.
You put the LEVER system on backwards and put the shorts on the wrong way. The LEVER system is amazing if you actually set it up and follow the instructions correctly *facepalm*
First rule of business is to not blame the customer (especially a product reviewer), but rather establish feedback to accommodate the lowest denominator among users. At this point, it appears the only advantage the product has is its price point compared to similar products. Whether that difference in price equates to more or less value to the consumer is dependent on the how people use these sort of evaluations as a resource.
I saw your instagram post about how this company reacted. If they are not happy about the feedback then they should not be sending out products for review. Plus I really don't understand how they can justify the price point whether it's them or others..just not worth it.
The company did not react badly - all they did was make a comment on this video stating that the set up is wrong and gave a warning because doing that can lead to injury.
If you see his post on FB, you see those were only clips he choose for the video... but, his re-evaluation of the setup is what he defined his final review. A fair review in my opinion. An, opinion coming from someone who uses a competitors version of the same product.
What a waste of money. What happened to water running. Or Have a rest and do some stretching. Then build into it, maybe some specific strength work. Do some of that and donated 10% of he cost of these device you would use once or twice to a cause that makes you fell better
Not everyone has access to a pool like that. Pool running is also a little different than anti-gravity devices! For some injuries, like tendon injuries, rest is actually not the best. Tendons need to be loaded to heal. So if you can do modified running like this, under that tissue’s threshold, that’s the best recipe for recovery :)
Please remove this video! You put the LEVER system on backwards and the shorts on wrong. Please do your research before on how to set up the system before making a fool of yourself 🤦🏼♀️
Taren! Thank you so much for the mention :) Hope you guys have an awesome weekend! x
I been thinking of starting yoga. Does it count as strength training ??
@@ba77leman We do work with our own body weight a lot in yoga, so there is a little strength building, yes :)
