This is the ideal combo of SMT and persona without all the dating BS. Would prefer the demons with a heavier dose of story which they’ve done a bit more with SMT Vengeance but I haven’t finished that yet.
Definitely one of the biggest, but absolutely not one of the most anticipated. There was like five TH-camrs talking about this before the reviews came in. Glad it’s getting its deserved attention, but 99 percent of people slept on this even after the demo released.
Yes for sure the JRPG TH-camrs were hyping this game up, but those videos were all like sub 20k views except for HappyConsolerGamers video. As a long time Megami Tensei fan, as someone who holds SMT in very high regard, and as someone who loves all things Atlus and all the MegaTen spinoff series, I have to say this - Metaphor may just be the greatest game they have made and might just be the best JRPG we have had in a decade. The way that it *perfectly* mixes Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, and even Final Fantasy V and Tactics together all in one has me absolutely addicted. It’s like they injected everything they have mastered over the past 20 years, and everything they have been influenced by, and blended it to perfection. - The culmination of the best representations Press Turn System from Nocturne and SMTV Vengeance. - The character centered combat of Digital Devil Saga. - The musical themes of Strange Journey - The character development and social dynamics of Persona 5 Royal - The artstyle of renaissance and baroque period paintings. - The relevance and social commentary of real life systemic issues like racism, classism, capitalism, fascism, religious extremism, and socioeconomic inequality. - The job systems, character customization, political strife, and fantasy worlds heavily influenced by Final Fantasy V, FF Tactics, and Tactics Ogre. The game is fucking amazing. This really is going to be the “third pillar” of Atlus, and is 100% worthy of being part of the legendary Megami Tensei universe. Whether you are a mainline Shin Megami Tensei fan, a Devil Summoner, or Persona fan, or just a fan of JRPGS in general, you owe it to yourself to grab this one!

It's very obviously scripted. Doesn't sound boring or anything, but RGT does this for a living, you've gotta be professional and write your script out beforehand.
Not just the best RPG but GOTY. I think the Persona games are better than Shin Megami Tensei. I use fast battle to save on MP. 4:27 Doesn't the game tell you that the enemy is attacking the front line? I'm not a fan of the Archetype system. If I want to change them I have to change my equipment which is problematic. I have a tendency to listen to Atlus games in English. I have played them in Japanese and two I played was only in Japanese. Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Persona Q2 was not dubbed. Besides Metaphor does not appear to be a Japanese setting. The fairy kind of sounded like a mix of Yukari and Mona. I also like the fabulous Irish/Scottish Necromancer (I think that's the accent).
Tend to agree, compared to other game launches on steam like Elden Ring and BG3 ithere were 800k playing it and Metaphor only has 61k right now at launch.
GOTY!! (I just hope my beloved UNICORN OVERLORD gets love too) it’s an amazing JRPG and possibly even a cleverly hidden PERSONA 6, there are many references to that “other world”, Metaphor is a BUY!
I'm playing the Demo now and the English voice acting is really good from what I've seen. Atlus has always been good with English Translations and it looks like that's especially the case with this game
I hate Atlus because in 1-2 years they will sell the full Royal or golden version for full price. Nope. I’ll wait 5 years until the true full version is 20$. Why does no TH-camr ever complain when they complain about $20 DLCs. Royal and golden are basically full $70 DLCs. Sheep never complain about it while going ape sh1t about $9.99 mxts and $10 DLCs. No thanks. I learned my lesson with persona 5.
You know you can only buy it once if you want to, right? You don't have to buy those other versions. So why do you hate Atlus? TH-camrs might not complain because they spend their money however they want, and we who watch them can make our own decisions to do the same. It's not that deep.
As a long time Persona/SMT fan, I’m REALLY enjoying this game so far. It’s a nice fresh take with some similar attributes from other Atlus titles. If you’re a fan of games like the Tales series, Y’s, and Persona/SMT…you’ll like this.

I started playing last night when it unlocked on Playstation for everyone. As I watched Ubisoft burn I've also been paying attention to this little gem
I'm like 5 hours into the demo and I keep stretching it out, cuz I wanna play the rest immediately. But! I'm also only 25 hours into FF7: Rebirth, so I gotta beat that one before I dunk another $95 into a video game.
Personally I’ve only played persona 3 reload and wasn’t a fan of it but this game is great. I’ve got 20 hours into it including the demo and I can’t put it down.
