I have received an offer letter from James Cook University for the MSW (Professional Qualifying) program, including a pathway program. I was under Genuine Student (GS) assessment, but yesterday I received an email from the university saying that they have deferred issuing the eCOE for Indian students until they have more clarity on visa settings. They have asked me to complete my acceptance in the meantime by signing and returning the contract and paying the Commencement Deposit. This will allow the university to issue the eCOE quickly as soon as they are able to, in accordance with the Australian Government's policies.
They have also asked if I wish to proceed with the Genuine Student assessment process now or if I would like to defer my studies to 2025.
In your perspective what should I do?

I completed my Bachelor's in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery in 2023. I had applied for the July 2024 intake, but yesterday they have asked me to defer to the February 2025 intake.
