But are they clones? Since they all have feelings like fear, excitement, and anger (when they get superspicy), but yeah the point of the game is that you will lose pikmin

When you think you're late but you forgot today's daylight savings and have to delay one hour:

I dunno what blew my mind more the fact that this madman only killed 1 of the 4 burrowing snaggerat's in the boss arena and knew which one specifically had the ship part inside of it and then sent those fucking Pikmin back to base despite the fact there were still 3 burrowing snaggerat's left on the field that could have potentially eaten them
Or somehow he was able to still get those Red Pikmin across the water without needing Blues and needing to backtrack. Is that glitch still in the US release or was this not patched out in the Japanese release?

@@KnightofFunnyJunk They were using a trick that is (i think) in both the US and Japanese version -- if your camera isn't on an enemy when they're hostile, they just won't attack Pikmin. The reds were able to carry the Geiger Counter back safely, without triggering the other 3 Snagrets, and without triggering the two Bulborbs in front of the box, because they weren't on screen. It's sort of like "out of sight, out of mind".

Just thought I'd look up a speedrun of one of my favourite childhood games and Holy Crap. I cannot believe how optimized this run is! This was so impressive to watch, I almost can't imagine how this could get any faster. This World Record is so well deserved!
They can get faster if he use reds instead of blues for emperor bulblax for the extra damage
Para duck But going back to the ship and replacing them takes more time than the time shaved replacing blue Pikmin damage with red Pikmin damage.

This seems like a TAS run then a normal run by a person.
Speed runs always amaze me. Mostly because of the fun little things runners find or take full advantage of when it comes to mechanics. It's those that amaze me more than when they glitch stuff, but that's a personal thing I like.

I watched your 59:54 run a few days ago and was really impressed by the efficiency and lack of mistakes. This 2 minute time-save seems almost invisible, shows how even small timesaves here and there, can make a big difference. Consider me a big fan :)

And here I thought my average of 13/14 days was pretty alright... lmao
Things I learned from this Speedrun:
That the minimum time you can complete is 6 days, not 7
That you can throw Pikmin onto the box blocking off the Burrowing Snagrets and guide them
And that muliple bombs can actually daze Emperor Bulblax for longer.

The box sequence skip is only doable on the Wii version because in GC, you can't change the distance that you can throw Pikmin.
Well, you actually can do it on GC, but the position that you have to throw Pikmin is extremely precise...

I finally beat Pikmin after 15 years or so of not being able to beat it as a kid, this is seriously one of the most impressive speedruns I've ever seen.
It’s moments like 30:03 that must drive a speed runner mad. Excellent job, makes me want to come back to this wonderful game

My best is 11 which is quite good. I just haven't got the skills to complete the areas in 6 days. First day going to Forest of hope, Navel and distant spring, what I do is clear the map (kill all the enemies and open the walls) so then the next day you go there you can get the parts really easy
My first run of the game was 19 days, and that's with taking 2 days to fight the Mamuta and Goolix, so it was technically 17 days.

Cutscenes are a speedrunners nightmare.
Neither of these are, because they're essentially breaks for the speedrunner during an hour+ long gaming session. It's when sequence breaking these are possible; that's a nightmare.

Should it not be allowed to skip end of day cutscenes on the Wii version because that is 3 minutes faster and unfair to GCN players?
Of course it should be allowed. The point of a speedrun is to go fast. The only thing that should be banned is if it's hacking, or modifying the game in some way. Tricks (or in this case, cutscene skips) only in one version have no reason to be banned, imo.
There's no reason to ban something that's faster, especially on a version that actually plays differently
The point is that GC and Wii pikmin play completely differently so they should be tracked as different categories
(Not disagreeing but I feel like you're missing the point in this specific scenario :P)
